Rating: Summary: One of the best faces in horror ! Review: THE NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET series is one of the best horror film series ever. This is one of the best box sets ever. Freddy Kruger knows how to haunt and scare people. My favorite NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movies is Parts 1,2,3 and the lasts two films. This is a good buy, the eighth disc is something else. This is a good christmas present. One of my good friends watched the first one and she threw up when Johnny Depp's character gets sucked into his bed and blood comes out. I recommend this movie to any who likes horror films and FREDDY KRUGER.
Rating: Summary: Great--if it wasn't for some of the movies Review: I bought this DVD collection without ever seeing any of the "Nightmares" except for part 1. Anyways, everyone gave 2 such a bad review, but when I was watching it I thought it wasn't that bad. But it is. The middle and the ending is just horrible!! I hate it! Three is awesome, four's pretty good, five's kinda iffy, six sucks, and 7 is great. I got a DVD player just for this set, but you know, I kinda think I should've just got the VHS collection. There are lots of extra features, but not as many as you think. I mean, everything listed on the special features list is on there, but it's not as great as I thought. But, pretty good. If you already have a DVD player, get this. If you're thinking of getting a DVD player not just for the Nightmare films, get this too. In my opinion of the nightmare films, best to worst: 1, 7 and 3 are tied, 4,5,6,2. So there you go!! Enjoy!!!!
Rating: Summary: Greatest Box Set Ever Review: AMAZING!!!!!!!.....First off unlike the other horror kings <Jason, and Myers> Fred was in every movie of his series. Dont get me started on the one Myers wasn't in plus the rumor goes that it wasn't him in the last one either, and Jason wasn't in 2 of his. Second there is no BoxSet for the others. I would kill for a Jason BoxSet, but they are not done making the movies. The movies have great video transfer. But the Extra disc is amazing. It is something seen to believed. It also comes with a booklet highlighting each movie, and 3-D classes.
Rating: Summary: DEFINITIVE COLLECTION!! Review: With one extra bonus dvd, the enciclopedia. Buy it!!
Rating: Summary: GREAT Review: I think that the DVD Collection of the Nightmare series is phenomanal because all the technical asspects of the films are better. Also the extra stuff you get in this set is excellent (I think) you get an dictonary among other things. Overall I think this is a must have set by most people becuase you not only get all 7 movies, the quality of the movies are excellent. If you like horror movies, I strongly suggest that you get this set of movies.
Rating: Summary: A terrific collection. Review: If you enjoyed The Nightmare movies, then this is the collection for you. All the blood, gore, and wickedness that kept you awake at night after watching one of these is all here including 2 pairs of 3D glasses for Nightmare 3, a little book that tells about each movie, and and 8th DVD that shows never before seen scenes on all 7 movies. A must for Nightmare fans and a good choice for any horror fan.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant fims Review: I got this boxset for my birthday and although my mum and dad were weary of the pricetag it was definetly worth it. For your money you get 7 mostly brilliant films (2 is awful) and the first and seventh have a brilliant audio commentary track. The eighth disc is the icing on the cake its just loaded with extras. It takes at least a week to just watch the films never mind watching (and finding) the extras
Rating: Summary: One, Two Freddy's c...Ok, ok, so that's already been used :) Review: Mind blowing. I've always thought Fred Kruger as the ULTIMATE horror villan, though I'd never seen any of the NOES series. There was just something about the way that he looked that put fear into my heart. This collection is by FAR the best DVD collection I have ever got. While many say that Nightmare 2 is the worst, I personally felt that it was one of the best. While I will always have a place in my heart for the old Fred Kruger, I have to say that the new one in New Nightmare is much more darker and the makeup ROCKS! I didn't like his new "glove" though. It felt too fancy. The old glove has a much more "glorious" history. You will buy this collection. You will enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: This Nightmare On Elm St Collection is Amazing! Review: This Nightmare On Elm Street Collection is Amazing! I own both the DVD Collection and VHS Collection. The DVD set is way better due to the many extras found on the bonus disc titled The Nightmare Encyclopedia which has all 7 Movie Previews that were shown in theatres, it also has Music Videos including DOKKEN's "Dream Warriors". It has a interactive game called The Labyrinth which is very hard, if you have a DVD-Rom you get even more extras like all 7 Screenplays and an interactive Freddy that haunts your PC courtesy of Togglethis.com. What can I say you get so much more! All the Movies are in the best Quality ever with the exception of the bad film transfer of Nightmare 2! As far as my personal review of each film I give Nightmare 1 five stars, Nightmare 2 two stars, Nightmare 3 five stars, Nightmare 4 four stars, Nightmare 5 two stars, Nightmare 6 two stars, and than Nightmare 7 Wes Cravens New Nightmare five stars. I have to also say NANCY who is played by Heather Langenkamp brought this whole collection to life with her roles in Nightmare 1, Nightmare 3, and Wes Cravens new Nightmare. Without NANCY who we were all so familiar with from the start, this collection would not be so Good. I also give a big thanks to Wes Craven for taking the laughs out of Freddy and taking him back to what he was in the original Nightmare 1, a Horror Icon not a comedian! I highly encourage anyone to buy this collection! The DVD set is truly amazing for any Nightmare On Elm Street fan!
Rating: Summary: Excellent, but a little something missing! Review: I was ecstatic about seeing the "Nightmare on Elm Street Collection" on DVD as I am a huge fan of the series, and, staying in the U.K., all you can get, at present, is the first three, on very, very jaw-droppingly poor quality VHS cassettes. I should know, I bought them. So, as my DVD Player is a Multi-Region receptor (try harder Warner, R2 Land players can play titles with RCE!) I bought this set too. When it came, I couldn't believe it: my dreams had come true.I opened the shrink wrap, and from there onwards, I discovered not a lot, but still some, disappointments. The DVDs themselves are in those crappy cardboard snap cases, and the black covers in cardboard don't do the discs any justice either, since you're afraid to touch the cases in fear of fingerprints burying the images on the front of them. I then put the discs in, and discovered that the box set only has 1.85:1 widescreen versions of the films, not full screen. Now call me old fashioned if you will, but I prefer full screen where I can get it, but it doesn't really matter, as my player has a ZOOM button, or alternatively, you can change the settings to 16:9 before putting a disc in, as they are enhanced. The backgrounds are mostly great, but I found subtle digital smearing and grain in the backgrounds when the camera was focusing on a character's face and not the background. This is NOT that serious though, as the picture quality is still amazing, as is the audio. Shame about the later films in the series being so tired and bad (you may have different opinions, but they definitely shouldn't have went past Part 3.) Now to Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, the mostly flawed disc. The film transfer is beautiful, of course, but when you come to the 3D sequence (tacky or what) the transfer hasn't been restored, and the picture suffers from flecks, speckles. You name it, its there. The 3D sequence does not even work, especially with the 2 Giant "Freddy's Head Comes At You" parts. You do not feel as if the items are coming out at you at all, and in fact, I found the scenes that were supposed to jump out at you more effective in the 2D version. And if you choose to watch the film in 2D (a menu comes up after you press PLAY MOVIE) you can't watch any of the Jump To A Nightmare features in 3-D unless you take the disc out and put it back in again. Now to the disc that you really have been having nightmares about: The NS Encyclopedia. To clear this up, THE SECOND ALTERNATIVE ENDING TO NIGHTMARE 1 IS NANCY DRIVING OFF IN A NORMAL CONVERTABLE AND MARGE SURVIVES, NOTHING SPECIAL. YOU CAN GET IT BY GOING PAST THE FIRE EXIT DOOR TO THE FENCE, AND TYPING IN THE NUMERICAL CODE "20", OR IF YOU HAVE A TOSHIBA PLAYER, PRESS +10 TWICE, THEN "0" OR YOU CAN GET IT IN THE CHAPTER SEARCH. Title 1 Chapter 505. The book is a disappointment, though, due to some production fault, I ended up getting two (I also got FOUR pairs of 3D glasses!). Well, that rounds up my review. Excellent, but with a few, though very minor disappointments. I couldn't help feel that I would have got more buying the Nightmares on separate DVDs, as they contain Full Screen and Widescreen presentations: the only catch is Freddy's Dead is not in 3D (it may be crap but it is still a novelty.) If my review has put you off this box set, then sorry, but may I recommend Parts 1 and 3 to buy separately, they are the only really good ones. If you are a die-hard Freddy fan then you would probably like Part 7 too, but that one just had something missing that the other good ones had. I hope my review is helpful to all of you. Thanks for reading this. Goodbye!
