Rating: Summary: Quality of video excellent, screen is great Review: Just received this unit a few days ago after toying between this model and the 2500 and 2600. Screen is excellent and the design is more flexible than the other two. The unit is light but the battery pack attaches to the bottom back part of the player and adds considerable heft. This said, it has a Lith-Ion battery so it will last quite a bit longer than a NiCad, and have a longer life. Complaints about lack of volume out of the speakers hold true for this model, its loud enough, but only just and not with any background noise. Use external speakers or headphones. One word of caution: If you are looking to play DVDs outside of region 1, this is not the player for you. I have hunted high and low, no hacks exist to unlock the region code for any of these Toshiba models, go with another brand.
Rating: Summary: Nice player BUT Review: This is an excellent player, with many nice features. The screen is sharp but, and this is a very big but, the viewing angles are so narrow as to render this almost unusable and is really unacceptable in today's world of LCD screens. It's a shame because the unit is well-designed and well-made. The inclusion of Component and S-Video outputs allows you to use it as player with larger screens which is a major plus but not enough to negate the narrow viewing angles. If the only way you plan on using it is sitting still on an airplane for several hours, you'll be happy. If you move around, or want to put it in the back seat of your minivan for 2 kids to watch, this is not the one for you-or them.
