Summary: Excellent Expensive Toy
Review: Picture quality is fantastic. Lots of fun to take visiting. Couple of negative points though -the price for one. If you have $1,000.00 you just don't know what to do with, go for it. Other problem is the battery life. I don't know for sure on the DVDL50, but on the prior model - the DVDL10 the battery life is less than 2 hours which doesn't get you thru most DVD's. Extra batteries are $200.00. Hmmmm. Does run off of A/C, but when you're out and about (i.e. camping- yes, really roughing it I know), that doesn't do any good. But, for all of those who are into gadgets and expensive toys, go for it!

Summary: The Best Portable DVD Player SO FAR
Review: I didn't have a lot of choices. This was it. The sound and quality of the video, as well as the inputs/outputs (s-video), are excellent, especially the VIRTUAL SURROUND SOUND. I have tried many of the dvd's I have, especially one's that are loaded with special effects. They all are spectacular, once viewed portably. Although the price is a little steep, it sure remains good to use especially for one who travels a lot.

Review: I get only 2:15 of battery life on average, barely enough to watch a good movie. I'd love to see cheaper packs, or a camera battery add on option. It plays +R but not +RW disks.

THIS DVD PLAYER WILL GIVE YOU HOURS OF COMFORT...I HAVE USED IT WITH A FRIEND AND DISPITE ITS 5 INCH SCREEN .... WE BOTH COULD VIEW IT WELL....I GOT THE EXTRA BATTERY PACK AND USE THE ELECTRICAL PLUG AT TIMES.. ITS WELL MADE ...QUITE DURABLE TOO! THIS COMPACT DELIVERS THE PUNCH ..IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE SOMEWHERE WHERE THERE IS A MONITOR, YOUR BUDDY HAS A CABLE THAT WILL TRANSMIT THE SOUND OR MOVIES ONTO THAT LARGER MEDIUM TOO! SO IT HAS MULTIPLE FLEXIBILITIES ! ITS WORTH EVERY PENNY,...I LOVE MY BUDDY!
