Summary: Very good picture and sound - great price!
Review: After shopping around for a portable DVD player, I was lured by a sale on this model. For under [money], you get a very good picture and excellent sound quality. The remote is compact and the screen pivots which is an added bonus. It's great for playing CDs (regular or MP3). You can also hook this up to a TV and the quality is comprable to most mid-range DVD players on the market. Highly recommended for heavy travellers or someone looking to hook up a DVD player on their spare TV.

Summary: A Lie if you think it plays JPEGs
Review: BEWARE of the fine print! I was so thrilled when I first read it can play jpgs. I thought this can replace a laptop when I am traveling. When I got it, the fine print says it plays jpgs on a SD memory card. Now, who is going to go out a buy a SD memory card and the transfer their pictures on there? What a big LIE! With a laptop, all I have to do is burn all my pictures on a cd and take it with my other cds. Now I have to pay extra money to buy SD memory card, a reader, and the works. This little memory card cannot have all the memory (~128mB) of your cd (700mB). In addition, all my investment in Compact Flash cards are worthless now.

I ask myself now why I didn't pay the extra money for a [$$$] low end laptop that can play dvds. I don't know. I guess I was taken by the corporate tagline. Sorry for any spelling errors but as you can see, I am visably upset.

Summary: Impressive Player
Review: I bought this product after reviewing the ratings on this and other brands. I must say the ratings proved a correct guide. At first sight the product looked sleek. When I tried a DVD (Jurassic Park 111), the clarity of the video on the LCD screen and ease of play really stunned me. The Audio was also impressive, especially with stereo speakers. The real test was whether it could play my DVD+RW that I cut on my computer using Pinnacle studio DV8. To my satisfaction it played without any problems. I also tried a Video CD and this worked quite well.

I then tried to connect to my Infocus projector and this also worked well. The only drawback is that the unit did not come with a separate s-video out connection. After reading the manual I discovered that the s-video out connection is achieved via a separate cable which connects to the video jack and is not shipped standard with the product. I have since purchased this item and awaiting receipt of the item.

The bottom line, Impressive product. Plays video and audio well with a lot of user features to suite one's taste.

Summary: A Product That Doesn't Do It All
Review: I bought this product because I thought that it would do it all... Unfortunately, it does none of it. The DVD playing feature, which I should have considered the most important, was the most lacking. The picture is nowhere near as sharp as the Toshiba SD-P2000, and frequently, the colors look dull or faded. The controls are probably the worst feature of this unit. To fast forward, you have to hold down the seek button for a good five seconds before it even starts fast forwarding. Frequently, I would press the button to fast forward, and would accidentally skip to the next chapter, making me completely lose my place in the movie. The sound quality is very poor, and during silent portions of movies, you can hear an audible static. I had hoped to use the SD card to view pictures from my Minolta DimageXi, but the software doesn't even let you zoom or rotate the pictures. Also, I had hoped to play my DVD-R movies burned by my Pioneer A-03, but I could not get them to work in this player (all of my burned movie discs play fine in both my PS2 and my APEX DVD Player). Also, the battery is huge, and ruins the small form factor of this unit. Even with the battery, the battery life is terrible for a unit with such a small screen. I returned this and bought the Toshiba SD-P2000, and I couldn't be happier.

Summary: Big performance in a small package
Review: I received the LV-65 as birthday present and I haven't stopped playing with it! It gives me the freedom to watch movies where I want, without disturbing my wife. The battery charge lasts about 2 to 2 1/2 hours depending on the brightness setting. I looked on-line for replacement batteries (2 hours won't do on four hour flight!), and I found a 4-6 hour battery for under $. The sound from the on board speakers is not bad if there is not too much ambient noise. When using headphones (Grado SR80) the sound is fantastic. It has features and controls on it that are easier to navigate than my home unit. The SD card slot gives me another media source to watch video clips I've edited on my computer. The control buttons on the unit may be a little small for big hands, but the remote control is a decent size. The picture on the screen is amazing, my wife and family were surprised at the picture quality. To sum it up, if you want a portable DVD player with great sound and a great picture I reccomend this one. Compared to others at this price, this is the best!

Summary: Best portable DVD on the market.
Review: It's all about picture quality and this Panasonic is one of the best. Colors are incredible. You can also adjust the screen size and brightness as well as the color. Flexible screen for viewing at a variety of angles. One of the most durable players also - no problems. Don't waste your time with an off brand that will break down in no time, spend the extra money and get a real quality unit that you'll enjoy. The remote works great also. It's also small enough to take anywhere.

Summary: Great Fun for Long Trips
Review: My family recently took this player with us on a long road trip, and it was a great way to entertain the kids. In addition to DVD movies, I recorded several hours of Video CD from my PC TV capture card, and burned hundreds of MP3s onto a few CDs.

Sound through the speakers wasn't quite loud enough for freeway driving, so we hooked the audio-out to an FM transmitter to feed the sound through the car stereo.

Overall we've been really happy with this player. The one negative point came when we bought the car power adapter. Prepare to be gouged if you do the same. It easily cost four times what I would have expected, so don't consider it an after-thought add-on. But for our situation, it was a necessity.

Summary: The Ultimate Portable Multimedia Entertainment
Review: This is the most amazing portable entertainment device I have seen this year, other than the Apple Ipod. It combines the best elements of a portable DVD player and a portable MP3 player

Highlights:
1. It plays EVERYTHING - DVD, VCD, SVCD, MP3 CD-ROM, JPEG files, even MPEG4 !!!
2. It handles almost ALL CD/DVD medias: Audio CD, DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RAM, CD-R, CD-RW, and SD memory card.
3. It is the SMALLEST portable DVD player with the Li-Ion rechargeable battery attached. Light and easy to carry
4. Excellent picture quality
5. A screen that can flip 180 degree and can collpase onto the player itself with the screen facing upward.
6. Excellent navigation on MP3 - it utilizes full screen area to display tree-structures of folders containing MP3 files - select the folder, and select the song you want to listen to. Plain and simple.
7. Excellent sound quality
8. Excellent construction

Room for Improvement:
1. An simple LCD screen displaying battery remaining, track number, elapsing time, etc. would be helpful although given the small size of the player this would be difficult.
2. The controls are hidden when you close the lid. You can use the wireless remote control though.
3. Cannot walk around (forget about jogging) with this player. No shock buffer for MP3. However, you don't want to run around with a...player anyway - that's not what this player is design for.
4. Battery life too short - 2.5 hours on DVD (granted the battery is TINY)
5. Cannot find a replacement battery yet (for long trips)
6. Does NOT display ID3 Tags - However, as long as you burn your disc as ISO level 2 it can displays up to 16 characters of the file name.

Bottomline:
...this player is a steal consider how much it can do in a package that's slightly larger than a portable CD player.

Did I mention that other than playing DVD, it also plays SVCD and displays JPEG files?
