Summary: Great Product ! The best !
Review: After an exhausting week of researching portable DVD, we chose this one. Actually mine is the MPD720, I beleive it comes with the travel case, but the same as the MPD700. We looked at Sony, Initial, Panasonic, Cyberhome, etc, etc, etc,
The features on the Maganovox are great, picture is awesome, sound is to be expected from 1" speakers, but okay. Battery life I get a about 2 1/2" hours. Not once have we had trouble, no glitches, freezing up, or anything!!!
We have had this player for a couple of months now and have been on several LONG trips and have used it a great deal! Still working perfect! GOOD JOB MAGNAVOX!
This also seems to be the most durable of ALL the players!

Summary: Poor Customer Service
Review: As mentioned in an earlier review, one can order an extra battery from Magnavox. However, getting through to a live person proved frustrating for me. I needed the battery for a long trip, and was told I would receive the battery (if I paid extra) in time. To make a long story short, it did not arrive on time, and I no longer had a use for it. After being on hold, being disconnected twice, and making several phone calls, I was told that I could return it at my cost, and pay a 15% restocking fee. This was despite the fact that 3 people had guaranteed I would receive the battery on time. No reason or apology was given to me for why I did not receive it on time, and Magnavox has lost a good customer due to this treatment.

Review: I bought this unit for my wife and it lasted about 4 months and died. Magnovox exchanged it under warranty and we got a replacement very quickly. The replacement has now died after about 4 months as well. I do not recommend this unit at all. Magnavox's warranty it very good but the product is very poor. Too bad, as this is an excellent priced unit with many features but if it doesn't work they are worthless.

Review: I completely agree with the customer who said they received poor customer service. I had almost the exact same situation happen to me and I am still waiting to get my refund for the extra battery I did not receive in time for my trip. I love the dvd player but Magnavox/Phillips needs to rethink their Customer Service Call Center employees. It is a shame that every person I spoke to was giving me different information. Please try to train your employees on all the same information.

Review: I had been researching portable DVD players for awhile and had initially settled on an Audiovox D1501, which is a 5.8 inch player that is selling for about $235.00 (It has great reviews). I was at Target a day after I ordered the thing from Amazon, and I actually saw a D1501. Nice unit, but pretty thick and the case seemed to be kind of a flimsy plastic. The way I treat stuff I would have had it broke in no time. Sitting next to the D1501 was this Magnavox. Slimmer case, heavier duty, and a 7" screen. The price ($300.00 on sale) was more than I had wanted to spend, but it seemed like a better way to go. I bought it and am very happy with it. Excellent screen resolution, sound, and it plays my recordable DVDs (which I understand some of the cheaper portable DVDs don't do). All in all, an excellent unit and one I would highly recommend to friends and family.

Review: I have the MPD-720. The big differences I see between this one and the MPD-700 before is that Magnavox deleted the S-video and optical output jacks, and combined the audio and composite video outputs into one output jack (the cable is included). I'm bummed about the missing S-video as you really can see a difference in picture quality on your TV when a DVD player is hooked up with an S-video input versus a composite input. Oddly enough, the unit includes a coaxial digital output for digital sound processing into a home theater system, but the manual doesn't tell you how to use it - and I doubt that most people who buy this player will use it. However, the suggested retail price dropped from $399 (for the MPD-700) to $279 for the MPD-720.
For a player in this price range, I thought the picture and physical build quality was a bit above the average. I'm using this DVD player in my car to entertain my 18 month old. It comes with a car bag to mount to the back of your seat, as well as a car power adapter. The mechanical operation of the player is a bit noisy, but I really don't notice it that much in use. It also comes with an AC power adaptor, two headphone jacks - but no headphones are included. The speakers on the unit sound tinny but are acceptable. For better sound in my car, I use one of the headphone jacks to output the sound thru my car stereo via a separate cassette adapter I bought.
For the price, this a good player - especially for my intended use. However, if you want an even better picture quality and better options to hook it up to a home theater system or large TV - you'll probably have to look at other players and most likely pay much more.

Review: I looked around the internet for reviews on different portable dvd players. I started to get worried because all of the reviews I was reading it seemed like everyone had problems with their players. I originally was planning on spending $400-500.So after doing my research I decided to go with a less expensive DVD player. I chose the Magnavox player because, although there were only a couple of reviews online for it, they were both positive. I've had it now for around 2 months and LOVE IT. The sound is great with or without headphones. The clarity of the picture is much better than some of the other 7" screens I looked at.
It gets plenty of Baby Mozart for my daughter in the car and has yet to skip or shut off, which was one of my biggest concerns. I would recommend this product to anybody looking for a portable dvd player. It's less expensive than most other players and I have been extremely pleased with it.

Summary: No extra batteries available for this product
Review: I recently bought this DVD player for an upcoming 5 hour plane ride and it appears to be a good, solid product. The battery in this, as in most portable DVD players now, lasts only about 2.5 hours. I was very prepared to purchase a second battery for my trip, however I was unable to find one. The universal batteries out for DVD players now don't list Magnavox players as a compatable brand so I called Magnavox's customer number to see if they sold the batteries separately. I was told they didn't have batteries for this product for sale and also that they didn't have a date when they would start selling them. So unfortunately, this player will need to be returned to the store. If you are looking to use this mainly for long distance (battery only) travel, then this might not be the best product to purchase.

Summary: good customer service
Review: i wanted to post this since i saw some people had issues with customer service. i just called them b/c my ac adapter quit working, and a new one is in the mail. i called magnavox not phillips, so that may be the difference. they just took my info on where and when i bought it and said one would be coming in the mail in 7-10 days. no charge. other than that (which may actually be my fault for accidentally plugging in my laptop with the dvd player cord), we have had no problems with the player, and it has been a lifesaver in the car and on the plane with my kiddos!
