Summary: Awful grainy picture - DO NOT BUY
Review: The Polaroid PVD-0700 is awful! The picture quality is worse than my $89 15-inch TV - very grainy. I was surprised to see the poor picture quality on the floor model. I assumed there was a problem with the demo. I purchased it despite the in-store poor quality because of the good reviews. My husband and I both thought the picture quality was abominable and I returned it the same day. I re-visited Circuit City and purchased an AMW model: M270 which I had seen before my unfortunate Polaroid purchase. The cost $199 regular price. Pros: picture quality is very clear, slimmer than the Polaroid, has remote, sound is clear and loud with headphones. Cons: sound is low but clear without headphones, does not come with car adapter or headphones. I've never heard of this brand, but the performance is great.

Summary: Quit playing after one week
Review: The unit quit playing after one week and was returned to Best Buy. Low quality and decided to get a refund rather than exchange for a new one.

Summary: great player for 250
Review: This is a great little player for the money, you will not find a name brand for less. I used it on a car trip for 13hrs straight and the player didn't over heat like others I have used. Just make sure you don't have the battery in while it is plugged in a are watching. The piture and sound our great, no problems

Summary: great DVD player for the price
Review: This is a great machine for the price. The screen is a good size and the picture quality is good even when viewed from the side. The small overall size, even with the battery attached (the battery effectively doubles the thickness) makes it very portable. It also comes with a couple of accessories not found with the more expensive machines, like a car adapter as well as a 110 plug, and a splitter that allows you to plug 2 sets of headphones in. The sound is the only place were this machine falls short. The sound is okay at best with the built in speakers, but any background noise makes it nearly impossible to hear anything from them even with the volume all the way up. Not surprising since due to the size of the player the speakers are only a little bigger then headphone speakers, but with headphones or portable plug-in speakers the sound is superb. Besides the sound the only 2 complaints are that you can not control the volume with the remote and that the power switch is too easily turned on by accident (do not travel with the battery attached or you will find you have no charge when it comes time to watch a movie). The battery lasts 3.5 to 4 hours, long enough for 2 short movies or 1 long one. So if you are looking not to spend a fortune, nothing else come close in in the under $300 range.

Summary: Great player
Review: This is really a great player. We got it for christmas and we used it on the plane home. It works perfect. It's easy to make region free (just see the online manual at amazon) and it plays mp3's and you can view cd's with jpg files on it.

I also use it to connect my canon 10D digital camera and even that works great.

The only thing that i don't like about this player is that it doesn't tell you the level of the battery. So when it's done it just shut's down.

But besides that it's a great price for a great product.

Summary: Buy the Warranty or buy a better player
Review: We bought this unit for car trips with the kids. It worked for a few trips and 3 months but now no longer functions. The screen is jumbled and the sound is only strange noises. If you buy this unit I recommend an extended warranty or to buy another unit with more quality. Even when it worked the quality was OK at best.

Summary: Great Picture
Review: We have only used this on one trip so far, but it was very easy to hook up in the car and the picture was very crisp and clear-better than I expected. We immediately had to stop and buy a cassette adaptor because the sound was not loud enough to be heard over the road noise. We purchased a unit that had video games included, and my twelve year old son said they were not very good games, but they were good enough for a six year old. I purchased a warranty with this unit since no matter what reviews I read about any of the DVD players, people had problems with their durability. So far, so good for me.

Summary: SECOND BUY AND LOVING IT!
Review: WE PURCHASED THIS DVD PLAYER FOR MY 6 YEAR OLD SON AFTER BEING GREATLY DISSAPOINTED WITH A 7" INSIGNA BRAND WE GOT AT BESTBUY...ONE WEEK IN USE AND IT BROKE DOWN REFUSING TO PLAY DVD'S. SO WE DECIDED TO TRADE IN FOR THIS POLAROID INSTEAD....THE PRICE IS REASONABLE AND THE QUALITY IS GREAT! MY SON HAS HAD IT FOR 5 WEEKS ALREADY, HE TAKES IT EVERYWHERE (EXCEPT SCHOOL:O) HE HAS DROPPED IT, BANGED IT, SCRATCHED IT, ETC. AND IT STILL PLAYS LIKE NEW. SO FAR NO SKIPS AND NO PROBLEMS PLAYING ANY DVD OR VCD. CONTROLS ARE SO EASY TO USE MY SON LEARNED THEM QUICK. HAS CAR ADAPTER, BATTERY FULLY LOADED LASTS ABOUT 3 HOURS. PICTURE IS CLEAN AND CLEAR, SOUND IS GREAT, IT'S NOT MEGA-LOUD (BUT THEN AGAIN, WITH YOUR CHILD BEHIND THE REMOTE, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO GIVE'EM THE BOOM-BOX-VOLUME OPTION!) BUT IT IS LOUD ENOUGH TO HEAR IT CLEARLY....OVER ALL FOR THE PRICE & QUALITY IT IS A BARGAIN! I'M BACK HERE TO SHOP FOR A SECOND ONE FOR MY 13YR. OLD SISTER....BY THE WAY...HIGHLY RECOMMEND AT LEAST 2-YR INSURANCE PLAN IF YOU BUY IT FOR A CHILD! :o)

Summary: Poor service
Review: We received this unit as a Christmas gift. On 12/30 I opened the package for the first time. Upon power up, I discovered that one pixel was always green. The place of purchase did not have any more and will not be getting any more, so they told me to call Polaroid. Because the unit was purchased on 9/25/04, Polaroid told me that it was past the three months warranty and I would have to pay for parts and labor to have it fixed. While I understand their policy, they made it impossible for me to receive it as a Christmas gift and then have their defective product fixed. I am returning it to the place of purchase today and buying one from a different manufacturer.
