Rating: Summary: Sam and Bruce have done it again! Review: In this movie which is a remake more or less of the first film, Sam Raimi has figured out what was missing from the first film: THE HUMOR. Our hero Ash (Bruce Campbell) Takes his girlfriend Linda to a cabin in the woods, where he awakens something evil in the woods. Sounds like the first film, but this is different. The daughter of the owner of the cabin has to get to the cabin to see her father not knowing he is allready dead, with pages from the Book Of The Dead her father has been searching for, for years. There is a great headless woman dance scene, ane the classic Ash fighting with his own hand. Bruce Campbell is a master at this kind of film. Very good indeed!
Rating: Summary: Funny as hell. Review: This one ind of scared me a little the first time i watched it. But now when i am down and need a good laugh i watch this movie.
Rating: Summary: I'll recommend this film based mostly on Bruce Campbell Review: Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn is played for laughs, so anybody expecting scares should steer back. But if it's dark humor you're looking for, this could be a film you might enjoy. For anybody whose seen The Evil Dead, this film is basically a remake of that film, only even more outrageous with a bigger budget. If you've seen the first film, you'll recall that Ash (Bruce Campbell) was the only survivor of the massacre in the cabin after the evil dead was awoken from the chants uttered from the Necronomicon. He has to board himself up inside the cabin, hold off any demons plus his dead girlfriend with a shotgun and chainsaw. Eventually he receives help from some visitors and they must all battle the spirits in the woods. At a short 85 minutes it's reasonable to expect this movie to move at a fast pace, and for the first half of the movie it does. There's plenty of hilarious situations in those 45 minutes such as when Ash is attacked by the head of his girlfriend and when his own hand is possessed by a demonic force. This isn't particularly scary but it's fun to watch. However, the second half of the movie doesn't live up to the great set up. When the four visitors arrive, the movie then turns into a by the numbers routine where the body count starts to rise and any sort of humor is almost absent by then. In the last fifteen minutes it seemed the movie was redeeming itself, and for a while it did. The scene with Ash going down the basement to look for the pages of the Necronomicon with a witch somewhere down there is thrilling to watch. However, the last five minutes are utterly bad, but to be fair I'll cut the filmmakers some slack since the end did set up for the superior Army of Darkness. Some have stated the special effects and the direction are the reason to watch Evil Dead 2, but that's not so. Most will agree with me that Bruce Campbell is the real reason to watch this film. He truly has a lot of fun with his role and his fun is infectious, at least up to a point. Talk about luck for Sam Raimi. He and Campbell were friends in college and they were looking to just make a quick buck with The Evil Dead. Little did each know they would be revered and Campbell would be considered a great actor by legions of fans. It's too bad his name isn't that well known because he's just as good with physical comedy as Jim Carrey.
Rating: Summary: The best out of the Evil Dead Trilogy! Review: I rented all 3 Evil Dead movies one night, and I have to say that I enjoyed this one the best out of the three. This one basically cuts out a lot of what happened in the first Evil Dead movie; some of the characters are deleted, and it takes a few minutes to realize what is going on. Still though, this one has more of a comedic spin than the first one. Ash and his girlfriend travel to a cabin in the middle of nowhere to spend a few days, and accidentally end up unleashing the evil spirits that surround the woods. Then when help finally arrives, the trouble starts all over again, and Ash finds himself in a climactic battle with the ultimate incarnation of evil, before being sucked into a timehole and landing right in the Middle Ages. Make sense? Of course not! But who cares! With Bruce Campbell's brilliant heroic/comedic performance, mixed in with the obviously-over-the-top gore and humor, this film is simply brilliant from beginning to end, the best of the three Evil Dead movies. Get it!
Rating: Summary: Hilarious movie! Review: A great bit sillier than its predecessor, ED2 nevertheless comes on strong. While it may be the weakest in the trilogy, it's not a weak film by far.
Rating: Summary: Spellbinding.... Review: The first time I ever saw this movie, I caught it about 15 minutes into the show. It was nearly 3am and I was really tired but I'll be buggered if I could turn it off. I just watched in morbid fascination as to what was going to happen next. The whole movie is an exercise in surrealism. Later, working in a small video store, I used to recommend this movie to choice customers on the bet that if they could turn the movie off after the first 15 minutes, I'd refund their money. Out of the 50 or so times I issued that challenge, never not ever once did anyone ever ask for their money back! In my opinion, that should say more good things about the movie that I ever could.
Rating: Summary: Evil Dead 2 Dead By Dawn Review: I find Bruce Cambell to be a terriffic actor. His performance in this film should have been more recognizable than it was. This film was very bloody and horrifyingly funny.I would recommend this film to anyone who is a true horror movie fan.
Rating: Summary: Evil Dead 2 Review: What a tour-de-force of outrageous gore and high comedy. Bruce Campbell puts in what can only be described as a brilliant performance. What is the point of remaking the first film - this is. It take all the best bits of the first film (whcih is also amazing) and adds so much more. I never tire of this film!
Rating: Summary: Scary, Funny, Entertain. Did I forget anything? Review: About a week ago My brother gave me the DVD version of THE EVIL DEAD 2. After watching it I bought the other 2 movies it was that good. I hoping for a fourth one.
Rating: Summary: still the best horror film Review: I was lucky enough to have seen this movie before it was released at a screening for the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, & Horror on the USC campus. I loved this movie so much that I took my friends to the opening midnight showing in Westwood where the actors signed autographs and many of the audience were dressed in costume. This movie made me a fan of Bruce Cambell who did an amazing job. But, most of all it showed me the best directing I have seen to date in cinema. The camera angles and trick photography are to be admired. This movie is filled with some of the bloodiest scences around yet is the funniest horror movie you will come across. Even after over a decade this is still tops on my list.
