Review: Heh heh, funny movie. VERY funny movie. Loved Bruce Campbell, loved the point-of-view shots (you get the POV of about a gazillion different objects), and love Sam Raimi. The one-liners are the best part. The Three Stooges humor is also a plus, especially since it's incorporated into all the skeleton n' monsters (which makes it all the more effective). Haven't seen the first two EVIL DEAD films, because I'm a loser. This movie is funnier than Ross Perot and Bobby Knight COMBINED!

Summary: Fantastic Movie, bad DVD.
Review: The Director's Cut did not do this film justice. Yes, it was nice to see the alternate "Apocalypse" Ending, but at two of the key scenes in the film, the video quality was equal to that of a BAD VCR version. Get the normal version and rent the Director's Cut. You have been warned. Think of the Director's Cut as one of the wrong books in the graveyard that Bruce Campbell has to choose between, same concept, except this time, the magic words will not save you. "Klatu Virata Niktu" (originally from the movie, "The day the Earth stood still", in case you didn't know.)

Summary: Beware the director's cut
Review: This was an incredibly funny and entertaining movie with plenty of quoteable Ash'isms. My only recommendation is to steer clear of the Director's cut, which added some filler scenes but cut some of my favorite lines. For instance the ending is different and not nearly as funny/clever as the previous ending. I highly recommend the movie but not the director's cut.

Summary: Groovy!
Review: This third part of the Evil Dead trilogy moves further away from the scare factor of the first and leans more towards comedy - it doesn't miss out on it's fair share of blood, guts and Deadites though! Ash is back, meaner, more sarcastic and even more ticked off than ever. Thrown back in time to the Medieval ages, he soon becomes embroiled in a war with the Deadites and has to deal once again with the Necronemicon, the Book of the Dead. Add to that the fact that he ends up fighting his evil self, who leads the Deaite forces and you've got yourself a fun filled, sometimes scarey but very funny film which ends on a twist. You don't need to have watched the other two films either as this stands well on it's own. So, if like to have a good night's entertainment but want to watch something a little out of the ordinary then choose this - you won't go wrong.

Summary: A Good movie But?
Review: This was a good movie but the picture wasn't that clear at times sometimes it was clear and some sceans where pretty grainy. Like the video version. My point is if your going to put a movie on dvd then make the whole movie in digital. Not 70% of it.

Summary: Poor Picture Quality
Review: The only redeeming aspect of this disc is the inclusion of the alternate ending which works much better than the theatrical version. As for picture quality, it stinks. I've never seen a DVD with such poor quality. The colors are muted and deteriorate throughout the course of the film. During the final battle at the castle, the picture completely loses coherence and is bathed in blackness. My VHS copy of the film has much better picture quality. I assumed that the disc I purchased was defective, so I returned it for another copy just to see the exact same piss-poor quality on the new one. Army of Darkness is a great film, but this disc does not do it justice. I suggest buying a different version.

Review: Ash (Bruce Campbell) is a housewares salesman at an S-Mart department store before a venture to the house from Evil Dead 1 and 2 sends him through a time tunnel into the Middle Ages. Suddenly, as the "Promised One" of prophesy, he is expected to save the locals from an upsurge in evil. Armed with a chainsaw and a 12-gauge shotgun, Ash sets out to put down an army of skeletons and woo one of the locals (Sheila, played by Embeth Davidz), all the while trying to find a way back home. Army of Darkness is openly campy -- and proud of it -- blending a unique mix of horror, swords-and-sorcery, and the Three Stooges. If you've seen the previews, you know what to expect. They accurately depict the tone and content of the film without giving away all the slapstick and one-liners. While Army of Darkness isn't one gag after another, there's enough humor present to make it funnier and more enjoyable than the recent joke-packed Loaded Weapon One. Bruce Campbell, returning after the two Evil Dead films (the working title of this film was Evil Dead 3, but Universal requested a change to attract a larger audience), is in top form, delivering ridiculous lines with a deadpan seriousness that would make Leslie Nielsen take notice. As the reluctant hero, he's a walking anachronism who shoots up ghouls, turns his Chevy into a tank, and can't remember how to pronounce a series of magic words that pay homage to Robert Wise's The Day the Earth Stood Still. There are some very memorable Three Stooges-type moments, complete with sound effects (pops, zings, and so forth). There's eye-poking, headshaking, and other slapstick standards. What makes these moments especially bizarre -- and effective -- is that most of the time, Larry, Curly, and Mo are represented by ghouls and animated skeletons. Every ounce of fat has been trimmed from this production. It's a comic book brought to life, with no time for characterization, exposition, or subplots. Army of Darkness moves with breakneck speed, but its direction is straight, so there's little chance of anyone getting lost on the way. No matter what your opinion is of the movie, you're unlikely to be bored. The special effects are of a hit-and-miss variety. The skeleton and creature effects are superb, and look much more expensive to produce than they were, but the matte overlays are cheesy. During a send-up of Gulliver's Travels, the editing of the big and little people into the same frame is executed so poorly that one wonders if it may have intentionally been done like that. Sam Raimi has never done a completely-straight film before, but Army of Darkness outdoes his previous efforts for sheer outrageousness. Those who like this kind of thing -- lots of action and gore, silly dialogue, over-the-top acting, and a self-mocking campiness that permeates all eighty-one minutes -- will love this movie. Anyone who prefers a more "traditional" motion picture will probably do best to stay away. Then again, you never know...

Review: Fist of all, this is a limited edition :). Anyway this release by itself justify the purchase. If you'd like Army of Darkenss you'd love Army os darkness Director's Cut. The original ending thar this release bring its a MUST. If you're a fan of Evil Dead Trilogy, you have to buy this release
