Summary: Evil Dead is a horror classic. One of the best.
Review: Evil Dead takes place in a cabin in the woods where a handful of post-teens encounter demons summoned by the book of the dead. An absolute masterpeice! There is, for this genre, an amazing amount of suspense, and even for this genre, an amazing amount of gore in this late 70's flick. Many critics rate it the most gory movie of all time! But don't let that throw you- It is what horror is supposed to be- a carnival ride in the form of a movie. Definately recommended is the first sequel- Evil Dead II- Dead by Dawn. Not to be ignored is the subtle level of dark (and I mean dark) humor in Evil Dead. It's at the tp of the line for horror fans and just people looking for a good scare alike.

Summary: This the perfect horror movie!
Review: This is a great movie. It has horror, comedy, action, and suspense. Evil Dead fits all the criteria for a perfect horror movie. And anyone who is a Bruce Campbell fan has to see this movie. Anyone should!

Summary: Kick a!!
Review: Evil Dead really rocks. It's one of the classics of the horror genre, and should be a part of any serious horror fan's video collection. Although the fx aren't that good, the acting of Bruce Campbell more than makes up for it.

Summary: An excellent film for it's day.
Review: The film, "Evil Dead" is one notch above the usual horror-slasher-zombie films. Set in a desolate cabin in the dark woods, this movie sets out with a typical premise; a group of four young people are being stalked by an ancient evil force in the woods. This evil was awakened by a scientist in the cabin who was reading from an ancient Sumerian text of the dead, the "Necronomicon ex Mortis". A book written in blood, and bound in human flesh. The evil returns and slowly traps the frightened people there in the woods, takes over their bodies, turns them into Zombies, and kills them. The lone survivor, Ash, is forced to do battle with the forces of evil. Overall a good time, and for a film made on a shoestring budget, (less than 50,000 dollars I hear), it was a fun time. Director Sam Raimi did a fantaboulous job of making this film one of the New American Cult Classics. I would definitely see it, and would highly recommend the follow-ups, "Evil Dead II: Dead Before Dawn", and "Army of Darkness". Horror purists may groan at these, as they incorporate more humor, but overall, a worthwhile few hours. Buy the ticket, take the ride!

Summary: Gory and Full of Cheese
Review: This movie has everything you could ever want in a horror classic. Tons of blood and gore, bad acting, and Bruce Campbell, who has the coolest chin on earth! Its also the beginning of the greatest horror trilogy of all time, and takes itself so seriously that Sam Raimi decided to do a remake with a lot more humor and even more gore. Evil Dead also earns style points for being the only movie where a woman is raped by a tree! Its so tasteless and imaginative that you can't help but laugh.

Summary: A damn good horror flick
Review: Raimi is a genius! This isn't really much in the plot or originality department, but who cares? It is so much fun. Yes the acting and film is bad, but the camera angles and insanity of the story make this a winner. The scene where a woman gets molested and raped by a tree is in poor taste, however.

Summary: Simply the BEST!!
Review: On a Friday night in September my girlfriend decided that she wanted to rent a scary movie and relax on the couch for the evening. I, thinking I've seen all the good ones, go to 5 different video stores and ask the counter clerk what the best horror film in the place was. 4 of the 5 walked past The Exorcist, Friday the 13th, and all the other crazily successful horror films and straight to The Evil Dead. I couldn't believe that 4 of 5 movie clerks picked a movie I had never seen. I obviously rented it and wow!! It has it all...humor, surprises, gore, and cheesy acting. (Cheesy acting is key to a good horror flick) If you haven't seen this one, GET IT!! You won't be disappointed.

Summary: DEATH! This is the best movie ever!@
Review: Yes, the acting is corny and the special effects werent done on a computer, so fricken what!@ Horror movies of today do not even compare to the horror movies of yesterday! This movie has it all: Zombies, gore, naughty trees, EVERYTHING. Get this movie now if you like quality horror and not billion doller budget horror that are just filled with special effects that make you sick!@#

Summary: A True Disappointment
Review: After reading the good reviews of this flick I've seen on the internet, I decided to go and rent this one. I don't know what the reviewers were thinking (they must have been on crack) because this movie sucked! The acting was cheap and the demons were not frightening at all! For college-level work this was good, but its got competition out there that it just can't compare to. The romance of the main couple in this film was just not believable to me -- I kept finding myself forgetting they were boyfriend and girlfriend since it just didn't seem to fit. The only fair aspect of this film was the gore (rather low-budget, but still good) at the end of the movie. In conclusion, after watching this video, I wished I had done something else with my time!

Summary: Gore and more gore
Review: evil dead was a gore fest and I loved every minute of it! A must have! You have to buy the collector's edition! You wouldn't be disappointed. Groovy!
