Summary: Leatherface Is My Hero!!!!
Review: I received this movie actually a VCD of it all the way from Canada and it finally arrived at my house after 3 weeks......boy is this movie sure worth the wait!!! In the beginning of the movie it has a Narrator talking about the terrible crime that happened in South Texas near a Macacre Farm house. Then a noise of sounds like cybols crashing and the echoing of the bells then comes the title "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" in the background you hear the brutal scene of some decapitating a dead corpse and all of the sudden a camera flashes to certain body parts. When the camera flashes is over the camera pulls back slowly as it shows the slashed and impaled corpse on a post!! The plot on this movie is good also. I love the camera work on this movie as well from the scene where a Semi truck goes across the highway and bumps Franklin off his wheelchair, to the detailed camera work of when Pam is in the room with all sorts of bones, to the closeup of none other than Leatherface himself!!!! The most bizazare camera angle was when Salley was tied up in a chair my the dinnertable and it shows extreme closeups of her flipping out with just the right music in the background!!! Another good thing about this film was the killings done by Leatherface.... I mean come on the shot of the Sledgehammer to the head of Kirk, the impaled back of Pam when she is stuck on the meat hook then stuffed in a freezer, to another sledge shot to the back of the head on Jerry, and finally the Brutal Chainsaw attack done on Franklin by Leatherface!!!! You must be lying if you think "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" isn't one of the best Horror Cult Classic of all time!!!! The most weird thing is this film is based on true events that happened in Wisconsin at a farmhouse done by Ed Gein!!!!!! Tobe Hopper did a splendid job on this film and he and the rest of the film crew did very Wonderful on this Classic Horror Cult Film!!!!!! One of my favorite scenes is when Leatherface is swinging his trusty Chainsaw around and around at the end of the movie!!!!!!!! You will tremble after seeing one of the best Horror Cult Films of All Time....... "THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE"!!!!!

Summary: Can't get much better
Review: Raw, riveting, gritty, all-out terror in this unrelenting masterpiece from Hooper. This is pure horror- no excessive gore, gratuitous sex and violence that is so typical in modern filmmaking. Too bad most of the sequels were so bad.

Summary: I'm never going to Texas!!
Review: If you want a good scare, this is the movie for you. It's actually really creepy once you think about it. These kids were just taking a nice drive in the country and then that man with the chainsaw.... Well, you know the story. It's not as gory as you may think, they don't ACTUALLY show people getting their skin cut on with a chainsaw, but there is a particulary nasty part with one of the girls and a big hook. It didn't give ME nightmares, but I'm sure it will to someone else. Not much of a plot, but maybe that's why it's so scary. I'd give it a "B".

Summary: One Of The All-Time Best Horror Movies, Period.
Review: When I was a kid, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was one of those pictures that every kid talked about, but none of us had actually seen. I always knew that after all the hype, when I finally saw it, it'd probably be a letdown. I couldn't have been more wrong...

Chainsaw follows a familiar plotline- The group of teens being picked off by a maniacal killer. The similarities end there, because A)- Chainsaw was one of the first movies to use that plot, and B)- It's actually a great movie, something very few of it's successors could claim. The movie has a cheap, dirty feel to it, and it achieves an almost documentary realism, something I've never seen done so well. Despite the fact that there isn't much actual on-screen gore (In the commentary, Director Tobe Hooper reveals he was trying for a PG rating!), this remains the most disturbing film I've ever seen. It almost feels like you're watching it happen in front of you. The acting is better than you'd expect, and the characters of Leatherface, The Cook, The Hitch-Hiker, and Grandpa will stick with you for a long time. Hooper and Writer Kim Henkel have created a truly chilling mythology, and the Family's obsession with "The Meat" is REALLY scary.

The DVD contains a nice widescreen transfer, commentary by Director Hooper, Gunnar "Leatherface" Hansen, and Cinematographer Daniel Pearl, trailers and TV spots for all of the Chainsaw films, deleted scenes and bloopers, a still gallery, poster and product gallery, and a spot about the props and sets. Great extras, but it'd be worth buying just for the film: It's a classic!

Summary: still strong
Review: Tobe Hooper's landmark classic still shocks after nearly three decades. The atmosphere is almost palpable in its intensity. This is relentless stuff indeed and unwary viewers should approach with caution.

Summary: American Gothic at its best.
Review: This is one great horror film. This has it all. You got hippies driven around in a van, reading books on astrology, visiting the cemetery. Hitchhiker cutting his hand open, and doing some sort of voodoo pyro magic. Got the annoying fat guy with an afro. Got the out of control generator. Women flying out windows, people getting run over by trucks. Not to mention the famous cross-dressing chainsaw wielding freak know as Leatherface. Yep this movie is 2 hours of cannibal chaos. Back when this film was made this was some hardcore stuff. The directing is perfect and sets up everything with lots of suspense and dread. When you watch this pretend you're back in the early 70s watching this on the big screen. This is horror done at its best. And thank the gods they didn't put nudity it this! Although people who are easily woozy or sickened should not watch this. 5 stars. Check it out.

Summary: SCARY!
Review: This movie was very scary, and disturbing. Based on actual events, this is a very realistic film. I hear that some jerks in hollywood decided to remake this film, if you are reading this review, or anyone out there that has conections out there please tell this whoever they are that it had better beat the original. If anyone is out there that can do that please do. Tell me how it went buy writting a review here. For everyone that hasn't seen this yet, see it. It is the best slasher ever!

Summary: The definition of true horror
Review: ...the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is still one of the most revered, and terrifying, films around, even at nearly 30 years later since its release. A group of teenagers pick up a drifter, and when he begins to mutilate himself thats when the fun begins. The kids end up at the home of a family of cannibalistic killers, led by Leatherface who would become an all time icon in horror movies, as would his chainsaw. Director Tope Hooper uses disorienting camera angles stresses the limitations of the film's low budget to create an overwhelming sense of dread (much like Sam Raimi would later do with the original Evil Dead film) that really set Texas Chainsaw Massacre apart from other horror and slasher films. All in all, if you want a really good horror film that even outshines every horror film made today, then check out this all time classic...

Summary: What a piece of trash
Review: I was at my friends today and excited to see this over all the hype. Well, all I can really say is that the only reason people hype this is because they like sick things. Now, trust me, I am not weak hearted, I enjoy horror movies such as the Halloween series but this movie is just blood, gore, and guts. No plot whatsoever...just murder and screaming. I enjoy scary movies but the difference is that unlike great horror flicks, this is just horribly brutal with bad acting. If you are easily scared or even have the slighest idea of what a good film is, don't see this. I for one was not scared, just disturbed, I do not get scared over movies unless watching them alone at night and this was not the case. I was eager after it was over to log onto here so that I can stop atleast one person who was interested in watching this moronic movie.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Personaly this is the most disturbing movie ever made.
Review: If you want to watch a horror movie with grotesque images, kids being killed by a mad man, a girl screaming for about the entire latter half of the movie than this is the movie that you need to buy. Horror movies today compare in no way to those made in the 70's and 80's and Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the king of them all.
