Summary: SCARY!
Review: This is a very scary movie that is getting a re-make. Yes the one thing that could destroy this movie is the re-make. Don't see the remake, watch this one alone, in the dark. This is scary, very scary and is based on a guy named Ed Gein, wich makes this movie even more freigtening! Rent or buy, You'll be shocked, scared, thrilled, and extremely disturbed. If you like movies like Scream, this film is too scary for you then. Skip the sequels, they all [...]!!!

Summary: Classic terror that will stand the test of time.
Review: Brutal, stylish, atmospheric, terrifing, and classic. These are just a few different words to describe one of the GREATEST horror films ever made. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is everything listed above and much, much more.

The movie itself doesn't have a great plot. In fact it is a simple story that goes like this; a group of teen-agers are traveling to spend the summer at two of the teen's grandfather's house. Once there, they each fall victim to a masked murderer who has Ed Gien-like tendencies. The murderer wears a mask made up of human flesh(hence the name "Leatherface"), and uses toys like chainsaws and sledge hammers to murder people with. What he does with the remains is makes furniture with his victim's bones. That's about as far as I go with the plot, because you just have to see the film to see this simple plot expand into a montage of horror, which surprisingly is more psychological than visual.

In fact, the strengh of this film lies in the fact that the horror is more psychologically disturbing than anything else. Tobe Hopper really knows how to work the camera, because with a name that features the words "texas chainsaw massacre", the film really only uses a few onces of blood. The rest of the violence you instantly visualize in your head. Hopper really gets under the skin, when the muderer has a hostage in his home and is laughing at her; causing her to literally, go insane.

Though the violence is brutal, the movie surprisingly lacks a lot of gore. The scene where the hostage is being tormented, is really the most disturbing scene in the whole movie, because thanks to both the actress's superb acting, and brillant use of camera work and editing, we get into the hostage's mind, and almost go insane ourselves.

The movie is everything a horror film should be. It is scary, bottom line, because let's face it, that's what really counts in horror films. I could go on and on about this movie, but I will spare the readers of this, and leave a little bit about the movie to your imanginations.

Now the DVD itself. This is a great DVD, that has plenty of extras that are plenty of fun. The blooper reel is particulary fun, because it's called the "blooper reel" for a reason. The comentary is amusing, but not brillant, because some of the comentators loose a bit of what they are thinking half-way through a sentance.

But what really makes this DVD a must-have, is the picture quality! This is a movie that was made over 25 years ago, but thanks to the extremely bueatiful transfer, the movie looks like it was made no later than 5 years ago! That is reason alone to have this movie on DVD, rather than VHS.

As I write this, Texas Chainsaw Massacre is in production to be remade for a new generation. Will it live up to the original Tobe Hopper classic? Doubtful. But whether it does or not, one thing is for certain; you have to crawl before you can walk. In other words, you must see this classic horror film, before Hollywood get's their hands on the final cut of "their" remake.

To sum it up, this DVD is a must-have for ANY horror fan. Even a non-horror fan can learn a few things about indipendant filmmaking, because this is truely a movie that does A LOT with a little. If someone is just starting to get into horror films, this is a horror film you MUST see and MUST own. Plus the fact that this is a great DVD package, doesn't hurt either. Texas Chainsaw Massacre has and will continue to stand the test of time as one of the great horror films of all time.

Summary: Horrific and Brutal
Review: This has got to be one of the most nauseating films ever made, and it leaves one with the images of horror in an incredibly sickening way. The film follows a family who are cannibals and they kidnap victims for their chili recipes. What is the most disturbing about this film, however, is its blatant disregard for human life and its violence against women. Not only that, its a trainride to depravity and its the mere suggestion of its horrific end which is gut-wrenching. Not recommended at all.

Summary: Tobe Hooper's legendary cult classic!!!
Review: This is the best Chainsaw movie ever directed and filmed! Most people simply put this movie down because, of the very low budget for the film and the subject matter. People are saying ... like "Who wants to see a guy wearing a mask kill off a bunch of virgins in the boonies" and that really ... me off because, Tobe Hooper is Alfred Hitchcock for the next Generation! He brought that inspiration on me when I first rented it uncut on vhs! He knew how to not put to much gore in a movie but, at the same time he would use an element that never leaves the viewer behind and curses them with pop up surprises! This was how Hooper shocked everyone that was brave enough to actually go out and watch it when it first came out in its theatrical format. Like when the guy in thw whell chair says something like "Cindy stop I think I heard something" and all of a sudden Leatherface comes out from nowhere and her poor invalid brother is left to die by Leatherface. That was truly a surprise that shocked everyone! Hooper is a master of horror that is very underrated just like this classic piece of 70's horror. This movie has the most shocking ending and the scariest dinning room scene ever! Tobe Hooper has also directed horror classics like The Poltergeist, The Funhouse, and Salem's Lot. When you mix elements such as gore, an excellent plot, a terrific killer, and things that you see in your mind but, not visually on screen with chainsaws and horror. Then you have yourself a well made cult classic based on a real life ...! Buy this and enjoy the terror of chainsaws cutting ...

Summary: The Saw is family
Review: Whenever one talks about horror, Tobe Hooper's classic the Texas Chainsaw Massacre is sure to come up. This low budget classic about a family of cannibals will forever be remembered as the slasher movie that started it all.

Summary: A modern masterpiece of terror.
Review: In 1974, Tobe Hooper created a motion picture experience that was based on a real life murder and created a horror phenomeon around the world.

The story is about a group of College Students who are travling somewhere in Texas, but their Car breaks down and they need a place to stay. But when they go into an old house, they discover that it's occupied by a family of Cannibals including " Leatherface" who want to have them for dinner.

Well it's not really gore infested at all, it's preety mild but scary and distrubing cause of the atmosphere and Leatherface poppin out of nowhere, it's a must own Horror movie for fans of the genre, forget " Blair Witch Project" Junk and watch this instead.

Summary: King of all the Slashers!!!
Review: This is by far one of the most disturbing, scary, and realistic horror movies ever made. The acting is incredible, and the guy in the wheel chair is quite humorous, and Leather-Face is the face of terror. This movie was somewhat based on actual events and an actual person. His name was Ed Gein. It has somewhat of a slow start but it gets scary and quickly. Just when you think it can't get any scarier, it digs even deeper. The screams will chill you to the bone. They actually sound as though they were being murdered. Oh guess what this movie has intelligent people in it! The film makers gave reasons for what they did. It also has an intelligent killer. Leather-face doesn't waste anytime killing intruders. If you haven't seen it, do soo...

Summary: THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER MADE!!!!!!
Review: I first saw this movie when I was around 15, and I thought it was horrible. Later in life, I began to deeply understand the greatness of this movie. I love it. It is the greatest movie ever made. Period. I have seen it close to a hundred times, and keep going back for more. The DVD is loaded with a lot of cool extras (it was the first movie I bought when I first got my DVD player). The other reviews will give you a synopsis of the DVD extras, so I won't go into that detail here. If you are a true fan of horror, and you have never seen this movie, then what are you waiting for? Go buy it now, and watch it a minimum of 100 times, and see it for the greatness it exudes. Oh, yeah, did I tell you what a great movie this is?

Summary: Could this movie get any dumber????
Review: I saw this movie after hearing that it was one of the scariest movies ever....I think not. The actors were awful and the plot was too unbelievable. I was laughing almost the whole time. This isn't a scary movie. I would NOT reccomend this movie to anyone....It's not worth buying!
