Rating: Summary: Absolutely terrifying Review: This would have to be the scariest movie I have ever seen. It absolutely sent chills down my spine. The fright factor is a definite 11 out of 10. Once you get past the whole 'this is a true story' schlock (face it, people, when they say it is loosely based on the Ed Gein story, the truth is there are so many holes in the seam connecting the real life story to the movie, you could stick a turbo jet through it), and sit back and enjoy this gory slash and hack movie for what it is, the images alone are enough to give you nightmares for a month. Now, it takes a fair bit to freak me out. I first saw Evil Dead when I was 12, and I was into the scariest horror novels around before I'd turned 14 (why they never made any of John Saul's books into movies is beyond me), so I do not scare easily. I thought the final scenes of Hannibal were rather warm and fuzzy. Then again, who didn't? But this movie scared the hell out of me. If you love being scared, and have a really strong stomach, then get this movie. Personally, I prefer the original edition to the uncut edition. Leatherface's first appearance is much more abrupt and frightening. The way he dances around and waves his arms about in the uncut version is just kind of silly. But the real gut wrencher is in watching each of the teens going looking for their friends, and waiting for them to get jumped as well. I thought the whole 'Grandpa' bit was sort of dodgy, but that could be overlooked. The whole nuance of the film is just pure classic. And it isn't the concept that it is based on a true story that makes it frightening. Because anyone with an ounce of sense knows the story of Ed Gein was nothing like this movie. For me, it is the knowledge that it _could_ happen, any time or anywhere, that is truly frightening. God knows there are enough sickoes out there to make it likely.
Rating: Summary: Not very scary Review: Yes, this movie is based on the true story of the Wisconsin sicko Ed Gein. Who also inspired Silence of the lambs and Psycho. However the movie didn't really scare me until the last scene. But if you really want to be scared read the book the a to z encyclopedia of serial killers and learn about the worst sicko of all time Albert Fish and other freaks.
Rating: Summary: Too realistic horror film.... Review: It is a truly realistic and shocking natural horror film. It is too realistic film, which I have never seen and gave me a shock. There are not brutal scenes, which like a blood-spattering scene when people killed by insane family. However, it is more cruel and traumatic film than any other horror films. This film is a true story that happened in Texas of the bleak desert. The farm which is a background of this film, is the place that cannot see green trees and plants even if trees are there but they are all blighted. Like these scenery factor makes this film¡¯s environment to be more fierce and sanguinary. Tobe Hooper, the director of this film who became a master of horror film, but his other next films is not particularly good candidly. I can surely say that this film is the best work of him. The quality of screen is not so good but it makes to show more graphically. No music but most of its sound are filled up with scream of victims and sharp noise of chainsaw. It also makes feel more brutal. A small number of people are killed in this film, which is a low budget, 84 minutes running time. However, it is more merciless, heartless and cold-blooded than any other horror film ever made in which tens of or hundreds of people die. Frankly speaking, it describes very horrible and realistic, as I do not want to watch this film again.
Rating: Summary: Scariest movie of all time! Review: Without a doubt, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is the scariest movie of all time!
Rating: Summary: I'd like to know more about Ed Gein. Review: Yes, this movie is based on a guy called Ed Gein, I know a lot about this guy because I for one think it is interesting and I could tell you right now this isn't a correct movie.I f you want ot know the real truth about Ed Gein rent or buy the movie Ed Gein. This movie may be interesting but it is a poorly made movie although this movie is freaky like he'll hang his victim's on hooks atached to the sealing before he kills them and when he kills them his family would eat it and use the bones for making furniture and rumor has it that him and his family would use the intesstents in their world class chilly that was once used a small fare in Texas. The really freaky part is he would use the skin of his victims to make a mask and I read he had three masks, the old lady mask, the woman mask and his favorite the pretty ladies mask.Ed Gein in this movie called Leatherface was also a cross dresser as in gay.If you're interested in this story see it and if not I wouldn't even bother.
Rating: Summary: Wow now this is mest up! Review: This is the scariest, most twisted, and most diturbing slasher film of all time! I hear that it is based on some guy named Ed Gein. This is really scary, and I recommend it to anyone who doesn't get scared to easily.
Rating: Summary: This was ok Review: I recently rented Texas Chainsaw Massacre to see what all the fuss was over this. I read reviews and figured it'd be pretty good. What I saw was 30 minutes of watching kids going around in a van and then wanders up to a old house to get killed by Leatherface. There is no gore in this movie and its really not scary at all. I found it to be good when Leatherface chases the girl and kills Franklin, but the rest of the movie lacks alot of what it was hyped up to be.
Rating: Summary: SCARY AND DISTURBING Review: This is a very scary and diturbing movie, and I think all people who wanna get scared should see this. It is the KING OF ALL SLASHERS, and it was based on a true story. I'm not gonna see the re-make though, because I'm sure that it won't do this film justice.
Rating: Summary: Leatherface! Review: This is the scariest slasher movie. Yeah the name sounds corny, but I assure you that it is worth your time. No it's not "another" slasher. This doesn't follow a formula, because this really happened! It was based on the killings of Ed Gein, and we all no that there is nothing scarier or more disturbing than real life (think The Exorcist) and this is a classic horror film. Some don't like it because there is no gore, or nude girls running around, but those don't make horror, that makes for violent porn. This is a very messed up movie, and doesn't need to be re-made, so skip the ridiculous re-make and stick with the classic, unless the director of this one comes back to do the re-make, there is no way that I'm seeing it. John Carpenter's Halloween stands no chance against this film's atmosphere. Skip the sequels, and just see this one, they are so bad. Now tonight watch this alone in the dark and remember that this happened.
