Rating: Summary: Last house on the left Review: Being Wes Cravin's first picture it strays from the Nightmare series and his other films. The parents of a rape victim track down her attackers and torture them. This film has loads of gratuitous violence and gore.
Rating: Summary: At long last it's finally on video!!!!! Review: I have been waiting for months on end for this classic to be re-released on video. This is the very first film Wes Craven ever made and though it tends to drag on in parts it is a classic. Based on a true story it's the tale of 2 teenage girls that go on a marijuana hunt before a concert and find themselves victims to a band of murderers on the run. After the girls are murdered the killers are forced to unknowingly seek refuge at the home of one of the girls they just killed. When Mary's parents find out what the band of hooligans did to their baby girl all hell breaks loose...I won't give it away but let's just say that Mrs. Collingwood takes the Bobbit case to a whole new level at the expense of one of the killers...a must see for fans of obscure horror and cult films.
Rating: Summary: They don't make films like this anymore Review: Mari & Phyllis going to see bloodlust in concert... they are kidnapped by 2 escaped convicts, Krug Stillo, Fred Podowski, and tagging along with them is Krug's girlfriend Sadie, and his son Junior. They are driven into the woods where their life ends in rape & murder. The gang unknowingly and co-incidentally take refuge at mari's parents home. When Mari's parents find out what happened to their daughter, they show the killers that civilised normal people can be pushed to the limit.Director Wes Craven made his debut with this film and what an impact it made. When first released in 1972 it was banned. Craven made several attempts over the years to have it released, but he didn't make the cuts needed to have the film released...until Craven made the correct amount of cuts... in August 27th 2002 (May 26th 2003: UK) the film was released. This film was based on true events. The names and locations were changed to protect the identity of those still living. This film is not for the faint hearted. It shows the madening space between life and death. Overall Review : Buy It!!
Rating: Summary: How could Wes Craven do this?!!!! Review: This movie is nothing like people say it is. It is the worst movie I have ever seen. The only part good about it was the breasts( I say breast I was afraid I wouldn't get posted) and nothing else. I didn't even finish watching it.
Rating: Summary: completly stunk Review: this movie really sucked, nothing more. I gave it one star because Wes Craven is my favorite movie writer/director.
Rating: Summary: Disturbing, but... Review: The film's concept is utterly terrifying and it has its disturbing moments, but the movie as a whole never fully gels as entertainment. Wes Craven's first film is about two girls who are brutally raped and tortured by a sadistic clan of hillbillys lead by a man named Krug.
Honestly, this film is not too good. Craven and Sean S. Cunningham (producer of the 'Friday the 13th' series) started off with a terrifically horrifying concept, but as then-amateurs, they didn't have the skills to pull it off very well. Not to say that some of this isn't scary. The rape scene is one of the most disturbing scenes in film.
The film is shot almost like a documentary. It was made for almost no money and has an entirely unknown cast. None of this hurts the film, it actually adds to it. The film's only real fault is the screenplay. Instead of working with the story, the movie tends to exist to test your patience. Fans of Craven may want to watch this just to see where he came from, but for everyone else, it isn't really worth your time.

Rating: Summary: Disturbing and flawed...but still worth seeing. Review: Before watching this film, I read many reviews. I prepared myself for a scary trip. It was not scary. It was tense and uncomfortable, at best. Once I realized I was not going to be freaked out or psycologically damaged, I began to watch the film for the piece of history that it is. It WAS ground breaking for it's time, and it does have some great moments: 1. After Mari's rape, the recognition by the gang members that they have crossed a terrible line and that they were now changed forever, 2. The chicken-truck lady, and 3: the doctor & nurse scene, to name a few. Watch this movie with a spirit of nostalgia and analysis, and you won't be disapointed. If you are looking for a terrifying ride, move on.
Rating: Summary: Something For Ted Bundy To Get Off To Review: sure, its listed under "horror", but not exactly what i was expecting. i'll tell you first that i am a huge horror/thriller fan with many film viewings in my past including extremely gory and sadistic films. but this one took it too far for me. the basic plot is that a small gang kidnap a couple of girls, take them to the woods, torture and rape them, kill them, escape to the girls parents house (not knowing they're the parents), and end up duking it out with ther parents once they find out that the group that has come to stay in their house are the killers of their daughter and her friend. the majority of this film? i am not kidding, folks: the uncut version is an extremely realistic collection of scenes that have them raping and torturing the girls. i mean, i like it when horror violence gets on the sick side, but this is way too far. i want to see a good horror movie with interesting kills and a plot to it--not just rape and torture. it shows every bit of it! once the girls die, we are only left with normal violence in the parents house. but before that, its just ill. be warned. there are some films that people say are horrible and twisted and i (and you) will see them for that and enjoy them in their deluded nature. but this is different. this is in no way enjoyable. its utterly stupid and pointless rape and torture. it won't stimulate your need for horror, and it won't stimulate your sex drive either (even though there is much nudity). its just sad how some people can overlook good cinema and enjoy this wreck of a film as if it were a cool thing. trust me--its sucks. the only reason i gave it 2 stars and not 1 is because IF i were to be able to look past all the stupidity in these scenes, its somewhat of a nice ending with the chainsaw and the parents going nutty. but really, its not worth it. as an example, movies like "evil dead" were gory, sick, twisted, dark, evil and extremely off for any of our parents, but this is simply unenjoyable at any extent. its not the same. i really don't see why this is a film.
Rating: Summary: Last House On The Left Review: I'm telling anyone who wants to rent/buy this movie...it's bad! I mean bad-ass!!! I'm 48 now...saw it at drive-in when first came out in like "72...chilling, unspeakable acts, demented, and the low-budget effect only adds to the creepiness! and so does the music! I never remember being able to ever finish the movie, have picked it up twice since from video store and still have to shut it off towards the end, and i don't think i'm too light-weight...being a teenager at the time, hitch-hiking,smoking weed, having fun and yes, going to concerts brought it all a little too close to home...this is the real deal...not this pre-packaged horror "halloween" crap today (all johnny-come lately's)...TCM is another good one (the original) but still not as macabre as this thing..plus the mood isn't the same anymore as it was back then...for if you're 45 and over, and saw it, is still a jaw-dropper.
