Summary: Very Cool Film...
Review: Although it can't touch Deodato's brilliant CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, Lenzi's film is entertaining in it's own right. The story is simple, almost to the point of absurdity and can be summarized as this... People go into the jungle and don't come out! Best appreciated with a bunch of friends and some fried chicken. They don't make 'em like this anymore so get your hands on it while it's still in print...

Summary: Weak
Review: Cannibal Holocaust is 10 times better than this. There are a few good scenes though

Summary: Not the goriest film ever made
Review: First of all, they'd like you to believe this is the goriest film ever made. Not even close. That title belongs, and probably always will belong, to Peter Jackson's (yeah, the same guy who made Lord of the Rings) Dead Alive. The gore in that movie is so extreme it actually becomes comical. Nor is this the goriest film in the Italian cannibal movie genre. I have to give that one to Cannibal Holocaust. And sadly enough, I don't even think this is the goriest film by director Umberto Lenzi. I think Eaten Alive A.K.A The Emerald Jungle was grosser. So, for my money, this is a pretty good pasta land chunk blower, but far from the best. I give it three stars.

Summary: Grumble in the jungle
Review: Although it's great to see this movie uncut on DVD and some effort has been made with the extras, the picture quality itself leaves much to be desired.
I know the movie is more than 20 years old, but taking into account Shriek Show can manage wonders with titles like Burial Ground and Zombie Holocaust, Grindhouse have fumbled the ball here.
For real gut-crunching cannibal 'fun' I recommend Cannibal Holocaust - which is available uncut, widescreen, with trailer, interview with the director and issolated film score from Substance DVD in America.

Summary: A GREAT HORROR MOVIE BUT..........
Review: I AM DEAF SO I WOULD LIKE TO SEE CAPTION OR SOME TYPE OF SUBTITLES INCLUDED IN THE MOVIE SO I CAN UNDERSTAND IT.

Summary: Fast foward review
Review: As far as sexy sleaze goes, we got one scene here of the girl getting hook hung through the gazongas, and it's OK, but she's not really nubile, busty and innocent enough for it to be a classic, and it doesn't last very long and she sweats too much and she's dirty.

The rest is for gore freaks, don't even fast forward by it. I'd pass on this and look for "Cannibal Holocaust" with the native girl impaled, it's much better for sex sleaze (though it's only a two star, way too much muddy nudity - like, real mud). Cannibal flicks don't really make it on the sexy sleaze scale.

Summary: Good extras for a good movie
Review: The DVD is good for its extra features though the commentary by the director Umberto Lenzi is sometimes hard to understand because of his english level.
When you see it for the very first time, it is really disgusting specially if you think that all the animal killing scenes were actually shoot without any special effects. Scenes like those nowadays would be forbidden to do.
I can conclude saying that if you are a DVD collector, you should buy this DVD uncut but if you are looking for a masterpiece, you are probaly looking at the wrong title.

Summary: A mixed bag for gore fans only.
Review: This movie is an endurance test more than a film you'll say you enjoyed sitting through. But i rate it as 4 stars for the endurance test part. That's not to say it's a good film by any means, because it's really not, other than as an excuse to show graphic violence. The scenes showing animal cruelty and killings were totally unnecessary and very upsetting to watch and were put in for shock value only, and do nothing to advance the story. There was no point to showing a snake terrorizing and then eating a cute little animal that looked like an ant eater. I would recommend that anyone skip that scene on the dvd totally. I have the dvd and refuse to watch that scene ever again. The acting is beyond bad, with the exception of the crazed guy who gets his genitals cut off by the cannibals. His performance through the entire film was the only spirited one worth watching. I liked his facial expressions during the tense and emotional moments. I enjoyed the sense of dread and the feeling that something horrible was going to happen once they all arrived on the island. Once they all got captured by the cannibals then the gorefest and fun begins, and fans will not be disappointed. This movie delivers the goods. The special effects were surprisingly very well done considering the year the movie was made. The dvd extras and packaging are amazing. There are more extras on this dvd than there are on many big name Hollywood productions (Warner Bros. and Paramount dvds being two examples of companies that give few to no extras). Just a trivia note: the movie was released by Sylvester Stallone's son. Sage Stallone is part owner of Grindhouse Releasing. Gore fans and cannibal movie fans will enjoy this movie. Despite the wooden acting and slow boring scenes during the first part of the movie, I definitely recommend this one. The violence against the animals should have been cut out though. I mean who the hell needs to see that? It didn't make the movie any more fun or enjoyable by putting those scenes in.

Summary: A sub-par cannibal flick
Review: I just finished this film, and I'm rather glad that I rented rather than purchased. Of course, having just seen the much more intelligent and (in my opinion) much better made Cannibal Holocaust (from Ruggero Deodato... available on import VHS/DVD from Europe), it's a tough comparison to make. The acting throughout this film is thoroughly wooden, and the dialogue is quite bad at it's high points. There really is no plot worth mentioning here, as there are three that end up intertwining by the end of the film. The gore is okay, but not as well done as some other efforts from the same time period and failed to convince me of anything. But there is plenty of it, and it should be enough to satisfy the typical exploitation cinema fan. Meanwhile... The Story (or what little one there is):

Three people travel to the Amazon to help an Anthropology major disprove cannibalism. After losing their jeep in a mudhole along with all of their valuable whiskey, they continue on foot. A way into the jungle, they meet up with two men, one of whom's leg is injured. One of the men tell the others a story of how they were attacked by cannibals and barely escaped. The anthropology major, still unconvinced, continues the trek until the five find a cannibal village... and that's where this plot summary ends. What little of the plot that I left out will be filled in easy enough by watching the film.

As my title states, this is a rather sub-par film, though miles ahead of that Eaten Alive rubbish that Lenzi also made. I found the soundtrack to be a particular nuisence, but no more over the top than other soundtracks from the genre. The acting is a throw away, and the special effects are pretty low key. The animal death (A turtle, alligator, monkey, anteater, and some others) is unexscusable, as always, but also fails to fit anywhere into the narrative. The directing is okay, pretty good even if you consider the direction of some of the other films coming from Italy at the same time. But I would recommend a rental before a purchase here, as the film doesn't really satisfy with anything but the few and brief gore scenes. I do recommend Deodato's "Cannibal Holocaust" and "Jungle Holocaust", the latter of which is available on DVD here and the former of which is available from various other sources online. So rent to see it, buy if you really want. It is your choice after all.

Summary: Idiocy
Review: - Why people make these kind of movies is a question that suits Area 51 well... Canniball Ferox has no plot, no acting and really grotesque scenes (wich was the best part of the movie)... These kind of movies gives europe a bad reputation... Stay away from this... film... at all cost!

Could only be less enjoyable if the VHS/DVD squirted acid in your face...
