Summary: Spacek and Laurie should've won Oscars!
Review: This has been my all time favorte horror movie for years and it still is. I have seen it countless times and it never gets old. I also think its one of the best Stephen King movies besides Dolores Claiborne, Shawshank Redemption, and Stand By Me.
Its about a tormented young woman(played brilliantly by Spacek) who is constantly made fun of at school by her peers and terrorized at home by her religious fanatic mother(Piper Laurie does the job so good i was so glad she wasnt my mother!). Carrie has telekenesis which means she can move objects with her mind. SO when she gets invited to the senior prom and someone plays a cruel prank well lets just say Carrie gets even! Like another reviewer im sure i can quote this movie word from word. Everything about this movie is excellant. The acting, the direction, the beautiful score by pino donaggio. Nancy Allen, P.J. Soles BEtty Buckley all turn in great performances too. This is the best horror movie and others have tried copying its shock sequence over the years and cannot come close! And i cannot believe a reviewer saying they preferred the garbage called The RAge CArrie 2 over this? Were you watching the same movie. that one was laughable. i was laughing at the flying Cds.
If you have not seen this brillaint piece of filmaking see it. And Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie should have won their Oscars!

Summary: A tad overrated, but faithful to the book
Review: CARRIE is definately a true Stephen King classic; good acting, one of the creepiest films of the '70s, good special effects and nice gore. It is a little overrated, but not that much. It follows the novel quite accurately, and anyone who liked the novel will definately like the movie. Also, the chemistry between Piper Laurie and Sissy Spacek was dead-on!

Summary: Read the BOOK!!
Review: The first Stephen King book I read was Carrie..then being the movie freak that I am, I saw the movie right afterwards..THE MOVIE [wasn't good]!! The novel is worth a 2-3 hour movie..not a 90 min teen horror flick that had 10 minutes of useless nudity at the begining..and then because there wasn't much time left, the ending was changed TOTALLY!! The book was perfect but the movie was REALLY bad..for a more accurate movie, watch the NBC TV remake of the movie..it's not accurate either (being in the 1990s/2000s and all) but it's closer than the original movie..In other words: READ THE BOOK!!

Summary: A Classic Horror-Drama From The Master Stephen King
Review: Stephen King's novel, "Carrie" was a successful horror novel, essentially about the psychological terror and hardship that a repressed young high school girl undergoes when she has her first period, is taunted and abused by other students and treated badly by her outrageously religious lunatic mother. The film starred Sissy Spacek as Carrie, Piper Laurie as her mother Margaret and John Trovolta makes a small role as one of the male students pulling a prank on Carrie. The film captures the essence of the Stephen King novel. It is effectively dramatic and horrific.

Carrie has it hard. She is not pretty or popular, considered very strange by the rest of the girls. She is ridiculed when she has her first period and thinks she is dying. Her mother has not done a good job in raising her- Piper Laurie's character is a staunch Christian who thinks everything is a sin. Carrie harbors a lot of anger against those who have abused her. Only her gym teacher is generous to her. When Carrie is invited to the prom by the kind-hearted jock Tommy, things take a turn for the worse. The final scenes, in particular Carrie's explosion of anger through her powers, is very well done. This film is a classic that has been remade (in 1999 the film Rage) and a made for tv film that has aired on NBC. A classic worth having for every horror fan and Stephen King novels/films genre.

Summary: Still one of the best
Review: Stephen King and Brian DePalma? This film is the epitome of what happens when two suspense geniuses of different genres (literature and film) mesh. I still get goosebumps watching Carrie. Both Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie were robbed of Oscars that year.

Summary: They're all gonna laugh at you!!
Review: This is another example of how Stephen King's novels of supernatual occurances can translate to the screen in the hands of the right director (the other being Kubrick's version of "The Shining"). This film may not follow the book word for word, but it certainly works as the story of a girl who comes into her own way too fast!!!

Summary: Carrie is in a class all its own
Review: Let me start off by saying I am particularly biased towards DePalma films. Ever since Blow Out entranced me I can't get enough of them. Carrie is one example of the director showing off his stuff. The film is not a total horror film, although some people still say it scares the pants off them. Rather Carrie is the story of a very misunderstood and shy girl who is repeatedly tormented by her self-tortured mother and her insidious classmates. I don't want to put spoilers into the review so let me leave it at that.
Watch the movie once to be pulled into the story, watch it a second time later to enjoy all the visual effects that DePalma is known for. And don't forget the beautiful score by the amazing Pino Donaggio. Highly recommended film, I don't usually give 5 stars but this one really stands out!

Summary: Im jealous of Tommy Ross.I want Carrie to be mine!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: First of all the biggest celebrity crush Ive had in my life was Sissy Spacek. She looks absolutely gorgeous if you ask me.Its sort of strange to see such a beautiful person to be picked on so viciously. Sue Snell's heart was in the right place at the wrong time. Thats whats so tragic. It looks like Tommy Ross really was falling head over heels for Carrie. Im jealous of anyone who has kissed or even just danced with Sissy Spacek.

Summary: Eeeh.
Review: ...that was disturbing. Very few if any movies disturb or scare me, and this was one of them. It was as if all the popular bitchy girls in school had been magnified by ten thousand times to get Chris's attitude. And I'm not sure why, but I couldn't stop staring at Tommy's hair. Maybe I'm just crazy. I thought this movie was excellent...
