Summary: Scary and Funny
Review: Hitchcok masters the art of horror, not by using gore, but by using morbid suspense and anticipation.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A chilling, surprising and heart-stopping horror classic.
Review: What is there not to be said of Hitchcock's BIRDS? The Master's subtlety is explored as never before, the silent repulsions, innovatively terrifying angles, and the revolutionary oscar-nominated special effects (By Ub Iwerks) grip the viewer's attention mercilessly, not releasing until the film's close. Tippi Hedren's raw, but vulnerable Melanie Daniels, is, at worst, an impressive commencement for an underrated actress. Though critics like Pauline Kael have described the characters as "cardboard cutouts" refined ones like Maltin have called it "Not for the squeamish; A delight for those who are game." Indeed, a malicious delight.

Summary: The Birds is classic Hitchcock
Review: To those of you who have tride to review a Hitchcock film at least try to spell right. This movie is an all time classic that will scare you IF you let it into your mind. Those of you who want nightmare on elm street, STAY AWAY. Hitch was the master, just do what he wanted, leave your so-called intellect at home, GET INTO WHAT HE WANTED YOU TO BELIVE!

Summary: ALRIGHT ALRIGHT, ENOUGH ALREADY!!!
Review: This is the 5th release of this film on video. The only difference is the cover. The films transfer is the same. This film deserves the restoration treatment that Hitchcock's "Vertigo" recieved. This strange film about the dark side of nature is a terror to watch, and deserves a makeover.

Summary: One of Hitchcock's best and most unusual films
Review: Much has been written and said over the years about the ending of "The Birds" (in which the Brenners and Melanie slowly drive off through a vast sea of birds). Audiences in 1963 were by and large disappointed and frustrated by it.

Hitchcock told Francois Truffault in 1965 that he had scrapped his original ending (the Golden Gate Bridge covered in birds) in favor of the more ambiguous finale, unwilling to let the psychological complexities of the characters take a back seat to a mere end-of-the-world story.

Whether Melanie's arrival (with the lovebirds) in Bodega Bay set off the attacks, whether she is "evil", whether there is something sinister about Mitch's relationships with his mother, and with Annie, whether they (or we) survive the bird-war are all questions left unanswered.

"The Birds" was Hitchcock's attempt to "top" Psycho in the most audacious way possible - with sound effects instead of the moody, evocative music scores he favored - with visual effects decades ahead of their time almost seamlessly giving the illusion of multitudes when he had pitifully few birds to work with.

"The Birds" is one of Hitchcock's bravest and most outrageous pranks, an edgy mix of bravura style, leisurely pace and sudden shocks (literally) out of the blue. Several sequences are simply masterpieces of direction, photography and editing.

I suspect that critics and film lovers alike in the next century will consider "The Birds" among the best and most influential films of Hitchcock's career.

Summary: still scary after all these years
Review: Watching this movie, you have to consider the period it was filmed(early 60's). No, you can't compare the special effects to what we see today, but the technology wasn't there. Nevertheless, it's a great film, very creepy and well made, and it stands up to most of what the studios are putting out these days. Hitchcock proves once again that he is a master director and storyteller.

Summary: This movie STILL haunts me!!!
Review: A few years back I visited the San Francisco area and upper most in my mind was a visit to Bodega Bay where "The Birds" did all their damage. I saw the school where the children ran for their lives (tourists are not allowed inside building). The "school" is located miles from the downtown Bodega Bay community....so the children running downhill from the school was merely an illusion. This movie still frightens the heck out of me. By far thee scariest flick of its type made at that time. The ending was rather unsettling...did it end??? Rather like "Blair Witch".....much room for conjecture....why....why.....WHY??? I still get the creeps when I am in a bunch of birds flying around me.....what if??? Did the birds have a problem with Melanie? Was it because she bought those love birds for Mitch? None of the bird attacks had happened until she brought these love birds out to Bodega Bay.....I've always suspected that fact. Cathy taking the love birds with the group at the end of the flick always gave me the jitters.....since I still suspect that they were the cause of all the problems. Hitchcock at his very....VERY best!!!!

Summary: one of hitchcocks best movies
Review: I think this is the best horror movie ever made. I don't think this movie is weird, stupid,or dumb. Tippi Hedren is a great, sophisticated, and pretty actress.Rod Taylor was great too.Compared to the trash we have these days. Here's what I say TRASH GO TO HECK.Now compare that to Sesame Street.Beleive me folks ,this is a great thriller.

Summary: This movie could have been better.
Review: I thought this movie,The Birds, was pretty stupid.I think this because it wasn't really a horror movie, after all,how many people have actually been killed by birds? That is the main reason that I didn't like the movie. The films special effects,I'm sure, were good when the movie was made, but compared to the movie's we have now,the special effects in The Birds, were pretty lame. The actors and actresses did a very good job with fitting the roles that they were playing.I think even the little girls did a good job in their roles. I thought that the end of the movie was pretty weird. The reason is,are the birds happy because they have a village to themselves?,are the birds going to follow the Brenner's? I think the film ended like it did so Hitchcock could possibly make a sequal. When you compare this movie to a modern day horror movie, this movie would look like Sesame Street. This film might still be considered a horror film, but it's not scary to me. The rating I would give this movie would be a 2.I give it this rating because there's no action, and it wasn't scary.
