Summary: this is one of a kind
Review: i bought this dvd and i love every minute of it. this is about a black car with no driver in it that goes around a small desert town and kills everybody in sight. i always wanted this movie since i saw it back in 1977. great flick.

Summary: Jaws on the roadway!
Review: I agree with most or all of the reviews. I also saw it when I was about 7 or 8 years old and it scared the heck out of me. After that bike rider was taken out, I never wanted to ride my bike on the roadway again. The Car was like Jaws on the roadway, just devouring people. The horn, the engine the smile on the grill, just look, you'll see it. I have the DVD and it brings back memories. My wife and I saw it together for the first time and she had trouble sleeping, she's 26 years old. Yea, the acting was bad, but not horrible, the direction was not Speilberg, but the movie has great suspense and action. The car goes right through the home and ends Kathleen LLoyds life. Good vs. Evil, simply put. Just watch it and enjoy or be scared...

Summary: Why did it die ? or did it.
Review: I was 13 when the booger hit the theater, and it was a HOOT . I saw it again at the Drive inn that summer and still took my head for a snap,I have seen it here and there on sci fi over the past ten or so years. I just bought the video at a flee market and also waiting for dvd to come in . My thing is I thought it would come back as the car 2 at the end of movie when scripts are going up the screen you see the tires rolling through a populated city as thow it remateralized as a new mennace and many more victims to bash.

Summary: Guilty Pleasure
Review: Not much to say about this other than it is a cool movie and the car is awesome. When I was young, when the movie came out, I just knew that when I grew up I was going to have a car just like it. Well, I don't, but at least I can watch it on DVD. Anyway, it is a bit cheesy and over acted, but all in all, it is a great movie for any horror/scary movie fan. Once my friends found out that I had bought it, they all wanted to come and watch it again. Even after some 20 years or so, it still gave me some of the original feelings that I felt when I was 7 and saw it for the first time. I highly reccomend this to anyone interested in purchasing it. If I could, I would give it 10 stars.

Summary: I LOVED THIS FILM AS A KID
Review: I loved this film as a kid simply because of the car itself. A heavy , sleek , mysterious black killer car with tinted windows and some serious chrome bumpers driven by the devil.

I enjoyed the opening of the film: A shot of the midwest desert. Then , all of a sudden , far in the distance , a trail of smoke appears. Oh my what could it be? THE CAR! Literally appearing out of nowhere to raise hell on a small town. Flying down the road like a bat out of hell with two unsuspecting bicyclist in his sights.

This car was so "bad" that I actually rooted for it to kill as many of the characters in the film as possible. I wanted to see how many cool ways it would kill a person. I didn't car about some James Brolin. I didn't care about some stupid nerdy-looking horn player , and I didn't care about the dopey bicyclist. I cared about the Car. This was the star of the film.(Although Kathleen Lloyd was kind of cute in 1977)

And then there is the dramatic death of the Car. Flying off of the cliff failing to kill James Brolin and Ronny Cox(Darn it!) and exploding in a towering fire by dynamite and nitro glycerin revealing its true identity in the firey explosion above. That was so cool.

When I saw this as a kid I was blown away by this film from start to finish. Even though this film is basically "Jaws on wheels" it is a sentimental favorite of mine. But I can safely say that "The Car" is more entertaining than "Christine"

Summary: The BOOGEYMAN on wheels. MUST SEE !!!!!
Review: This is the movie to watch if you want to scare [...] your kids. Guaranteed to give nightmares for at least a week for anyone under the age of 12. Not much of a plot, but has cool psycho car scenes where half the town gets run over!! Never could exactly figure out what the make of the car was but must have been an early 1970s wildly-customized full-size Ford. It is refreshing to see a horror car flick that doesn't involve Mopars from hell. A good movie to watch when the wife is at the mall or making you sleep on the couch. Definitely not a chick flick...but a great "B" film from the 70's era. A DEFINITE MUST HAVE IF YOU ARE A CAR NUT!!! Also check out; Duel, Christine or Maximum Overdrive or THE VAN. This film is especially frightening in the very last scene in relation to the September 11th 2001 Ordeal. Check it out....

Summary: THE BEST OF THE B-MOVIES!!!
Review: If you are a fan of JAWS or Mystery Science Theatre 3000 then you will love THE CAR!

The movie is so bad you just can't stop watching it. The acting is horrific. The plot is non-existent. Cliches abound. Night scenes were clearly shot in the day time. The editing is choppy. And even the credits at the end seem more aimed for a TV show than for a movie.

BUT...this is the movie that killed James Brolin's career so it needs to be watched. And, if you watch it with your friends then you'll find that laughter ensues and people will be smiling when the movie is done.

I wouldn't pay top money for the DVD but if you can get a deal and you are a collector of Le Cinema Bad! Then add this BAD boy into your collection.

Summary: This is awful Film Making...
Review: James Brolin who has useually been more choicey of the roles he stars in, was wasteing his time and his acting talents on this turkey horror film made in 1977 where people are being runned down by a car that looks like the driver is not of this Earth. Lacks the terror of Jaws, or the chills of the movie, Duel. Don't bother with it.
