Summary: For true fans
Review: ...I must say, it was not as bad as I thought, yes, there are cheesy lines, bad acting and terrible directing, but I enjoyed the movie overall. one of those movies you would rent when out on a night when you and friends plan a bad, cheesy movie night. It was laughable really. Basically, Freddy wants to come back, but since his name and anything remotely invovled with his name has been erased and stricken from records and memory, even the kids from the last Freddy flick have been ferreted away to an asylum and hopped up on anti-dreaming drugs. So the only way he can think to be able to comeback is to bring back the oft misunderstood Jason. The poor kid that drowned at Camp Crystal Lake. Hoping people will think it him doing all the new slayings of the Elm Street teens, Freddy is less than thrilled when he is barely spoken of, but then, he does start popping up in dreams with razor tiped fingertips taut for action and soon slicing up sleeping teen dreamers. Though the bigger bloodbaths are due to a giddy Jason, like a scene at a rave where he is hapily slicing upnaughty teens. I enjoyed the scene where Freddy kills Jason's Mom as Jason can only lie there helpless and beaten and just watch. We start on Elm Street and end at Camp Crystal Lake, where in a flashback we see a young Jason being teased and tormented by fellow camp snots who cause his drowning....It is not scary, not even suspenseful, more of a laughable action flick. For those who are Freddy and/or Jason fans, I would recommend seeing this movie, you will not be disappionted.

Summary: Ketchup Anyone?
Review: Yes, I really did not like this movie. The truth is that it really did not have a point. I guess someone might like a movie where nothing gets resolved and the ending is inconclusive, but not me. YOU SHOULD ONLY GO TO SEE THIS MOVIE IF YOU WANT TO SEE PEOPLE GET KILLED! There is no other reason to see this movie. Pirates of the Caribbean is much better, and actually scarier! Don't waste your time or money on this piece of trash!

Summary: Very entertaining...
Review: It cracks me up when people call something like this a "waste of celluloid" and the like. Such closed-minded individuals they are. If they dislike the Nightmare and Friday franchises, why would they go to see this in the first place (if they did in fact see it)? Like Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Freddy Vs. Jason is a movie strictly made for fans. So if you are a fan, and gave this movie one star, then I believe you are full of it; you KNOW there were aspects of this movie that entertained you. You just don't want to look like one of the millions of "nimrods" who enjoy this "garbage." People who can think for themselves know that I'm right.

Anyway, I went to see this expecting a fun hour-and-a-half romp full of suprises, gore and just plain fun, and that's exactly what I got; no more, no less. It was almost dreamlike to see these two horror movie icons finally duke it out for it's half-hour climactic battle. The mortal characters aren't great and some come off as downright annoying (like Kelly Rowland and that Jay rip-off), but who cares? I don't see films like this actually wanting everyone to survive the massacre. I want to see them sliced and diced in the most macabre and hilarious ways imaginable. In movies such as Freddy Vs. Jason, the excitement comes first and character development comes second, so what were the nay-sayers expecting? The ones who enjoyed this know how a modern horror romp works which is why they liked it. They're not ignorant folks who take odd pride in bashing anything that's liked by the masses.

By now, whether you've seen it or have just gone by word of mouth, you know there's going to be a sequel. Any movie like this that stays at number one for four weeks in a row is just tugging at the production company's wallets to invest money in a follow-up. Will I see it? You bet I will. And so will all the real fans who don't dog every post-Scream horror movie for the sheer sake of trendiness in the arthouse cinema circuit.

I commend Ronny Yu for bringing a decade-old rumor to the big screen with style, wit, gore and, most importantly of all, loads of fun.

Summary: Beautiful
Review: This movie should only be seen by true Freddy and Jason fans..if not, it will seem retarded.
I have seen this movie 5 times since it came out. I love the way that they brought Freddy and Jason together. CLASSIC! I'm not really going to tell u anything about the movie b/c if you are a fan, you should already know. Just know that the characters are believable, Freddy is at his best, the new Jason Voorhies(the guy in "Jason Takes Manhattan" who "Jason" throws across the counter in the diner) is unreal. This guy is huge and since he has worked as a stunt cordinator for some of the Friday the 13th films, he has Jason down to a T. Jaw dropping fun, laugh out loud gore, and an open ending for a part 2 which if any one saw Robert Englund on Tom Green he already said that they are making a part 2. Go and see this and if you don't like it, you always have your "Scream" films to watch...lame!

Summary: Well, You Weren't Expecting Oscar Material, Were You?
Review: If you went to see this expecting a fresh, original twist on the slasher genre- well shame on you!

For those of us who know better (but still find ourselves curious), this film is a goofy, gory, funhouse of cheap thrills.

Refreshingly unorginal, the film opens with something that has been long absent from these films: gratuitous female nudity! This tale begins with a shapely, supple young lass going for a swim in her birthday suit. We know what happens next, but that's not the point. You just can't go wrong with naked girls swimming, a fact lost on horror film makers in the 1990's.

What follows is a semi- interesting plot, one that is full of obligatory holes. The story is this; Freddy wants to kill again, but everyone has forgotten about him. To make people remember, he calls Jason forth from the grave to be his attack dog.

Jason then mysteriously ends up in Springwood, former home of Fred Krueger. How far Jason has to walk in order to get there is never really explained, but what's a slasher movie without plotholes?

The rest is pretty standard, except for new and improved visual effects not seen in any of the previous films. If you like high-gloss, B-movie entertainment, then check this one out. If you want oscar caliber stuff, well. . . .

Summary: Freddy Vs Jason Was Great And Very Creative
Review: It Had That Horror Action Feel To It With Great Music To Back It Up. Everything About This Movie was Creative And Original. No Skimping On The Gore And Sex And The Fight Scene Between Freddy And Jason Was Awesome In More Ways Than One. I Definitely Got Every Cent Worth When I Went To See This.

Summary: This is for the fans...
Review: Call me silly - I know this movie got mostly bad reviews from the major critics, but I enjoyed it. It is the first movie in forever that is in the tradition of the old Universal Monster Movies like Frankenstien vs. The Wolf Man. It was a diverting theatergoing experience and I felt that I got my money's worth.

Summary: Better than I expected
Review: I am a fan of both the friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street films and was a little hesitant about this film but it did surprise me. I enjoyed the tiny insight into Jason's mind and the menacing demonic looking version of Freddy. There is some gore such as severed heads and bisected bodies but mostly gushing torrents of blood which actually surprised me since I figured they would screw it up misjudging their audience as they did with such films as Resident Evil. There are also more [body parts] as well as blood in this film than the comparatively disapointing Rob Zombie film "House of 1,000 Corpses".For fans of the Freddy and Jason franchises I would recommend this film.

Summary: Freddy Vs. Jason ...
Review: WOW! AFTER A DECADE AND ALL THE HYPE, YOU'D THINK THAT THIS WOULD ACTUALLY BE A GOOD FILM! YEAH RIGHT! THIS MOVIE WAS UNBELIEVABLY BAD!

Where does one start with a mess like this? The direction:[weak]. The acting: [weak]. The story: [weak]. Most of the Nightmare and Friday 13th movies are cheesy, yet there is some redeeming and entertaining aspect in most of those movies, whether it be the dialogue, the gore, the scares, creative killings, or the "acting is so bad its hilarious" theme. This [weak] and cliche, notably Robert Englund's opening historical recap (so unnecessarily embarrassing and dull). The acting was oh so terrible. It was ridiculously over-the-top and truly absurd...

Ok, I confess there actually was one redeeming quality about this film and that was Jason Ritter. The son of the brilliant Jack Tripper or John Ritter, was so off in this movie, that it truly was remarkably funny. This guy just couldn't stop smiling throughout the film. A rave slaughter: smile. Talking about someone's dead mother: smile. Freddy standing over you and about to attack: smile. A truly unforgettable, unintentionally, comedic performance. I applaud Mr. Ritter for taking after his Dad. But to be taken seriously he should probably concentrate his efforts in an actual comedy.

Back to the movie, the story itself was wretchedly tired and boring. Someone's mother is dead, only one person knows the truth besides the killer, another killer comes into the picture to do his own murders. Hmmm, never heard of this concept before! With a bad story, the direction usually can't be much better, unless you have a talented director, in which case, the movie could turn out to be decent. Unfortunately, New Line chose a director who knows nothing of horror and is basically [weak].

Ronny Yu destroyed a very good horror franchise, Child's Play, with his ridiculously bad, vomit of an ogre flick, Bride of Chucky. But at least that piece of trash had one or two funny lines. In F Vs. J, the lines intended to be funny are not even close, especially Freddy's, whose dialogue was always at least decent in the Nightmare films. There is virtually no focus on building any kind of suspense or "spooky" atmosphere that is present in good horror films. The competition between the 2 icons doesn't even really begin until an hour into the movie, so unless you enjoy worthless, unentertaining, inconsequential events in a film, you'd probably find yourself staring at the ceiling of the theatre by this point. The actual fight is not nearly worth the wait. Nothing creative; its more of a karate vs. wrestling brawl, which is not surprising considering that the director is Asian.

Besides just being a really awful film, it's even hard to identify it as simply an American film. Yu's vision of horror is really warped and truly pathetically uninspiring and uninteresting. I suppose he thinks using neon lights, karate, awkward camera angles, and actors who are on the brink of hysteria makes a good horror film. Well he's dead wrong and any self-respecting American horror fan should agree. What Yu has made here is a calamitous, Chuck Norris action film, at best. Yet such a comparison is much too disrespectful to Mr. Norris, whose movies are infinitely superior to F Vs. J.

If you contribute to [weak] films like this and make box-office smashes out of them, then quality horror films will never make a resurgence. ...
