Summary: Pretty good, but hey, its a B movie!
Review: A group of psychics get together in a spooky hotel to attend the funeral of their dead leader, only to find a group of puppets killing each member off. The first in the series clearly made no bones about who the stars of the movie are - the puppets (a trend that followed in each sequal). Mediocre plot, and very hard to follow at times (another trend that followed in each sequal). Fairly chilling (members find the stiff to be hanging out in varying parts of the house, far off from his casket), but nothing really to be found in the scare dept.. Puppets featured are Pinhead, a big strong puppet with a tinyhead, Blade, with a hook for one hand and knife for the other, Leech Woman, who vomits leeches, Jester, a courthand gone bad, and Tunneler, who a drill on the top of his head. The said puppets make the film watchable, and, hey, thats all your watchin it for anyway. Silly at times, cheesy at others, but it's a B movie, its supposed to be! Make some popcorn, order a pizza, and pop this one in for a night of camp fun.

Summary: Evil Comes In All Sizes!!!!!!!!
Review: Alex Whittaker, played by Paul Le Mat (MELVIN & HOWARD, THE BURNING BED), and three other gifted psychics are investigating rumors that the secret of life has been discovered by master puppeteer Andre Toulon, played by William Hickey (PRIZZI'S HONOR, THE NAME OF THE GAME).
But the psychics quickly discover Toulon's secret of death in the form of five killer puppets-each one uniquely qualified for murder and mayhem.
Tunneler has a nasty habit of boring holes in people with his drill bit head. Ms. Leech regurgitates killer leeches that suck her victims dry. Pin Head strangles his enemies with his powerful vice-like hands. Blade has a gleaming hook for one hand and a razor-sharp knife for the other. And Jester, the ruthless brains of the bunch, is absolutely merciless.
Together, they're an army of skilled assassins, diabolically programmed to guard the deadly secrets of the PUPPET MASTER.
Special effects wizard, David Allen (WILLOW, BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED), brings Toulon's killer puppets magically to life with the incredible flair that earned him an Academy Award Nomination for his work on YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES.

Summary: A Huge Disappointment!
Review: Do any of these reviews actually refer to "Puppet Master : Legacy"? This was a terrible movie. As a fan of the Puppet Master series, I was greatly disappointed. This is nothing but clips of the old movies loosely strung together as some unidentified spy character tries to learn the Puppet Master's secrets. The movie, if you can call it that, is also a mere one hour and eleven minutes, with no bonus features on the DVD. If anything, this is just an extended promotion for the seven original films. I wish Full Moon would buy back the rights to their original Puppet Master films and release them properly on DVD. This poor hack-job of recycled movie clips is just awful.

Summary: good movie...not so good dvd
Review: dvd- this movie didnt improve much over the vhs version. on the movie back, it said 'widesrceen' and the movie didnt have that option and the picture was a little vhs-like in like 2 spots.

movie- this as a movie is a great and fun film. it was funny to see small puppets come to life and kill people. its about a guy who uses voodoo to give his own hand-made puppets life and kill. i really dont know what to say about this movie but get it it is a great horror flick. if you already have the vhs version dont bother wit the dvd but if you dont have it at all get the dvd i guess.

Summary: Full Moon's best effort on a film yet!!!!!
Review: I can't believe it! I finally found Puppet Master! I got it on DVD but, Amazon didn't give me the choice of reviewing a DVD version. I guess they didn't know that there was a DVD version out there but, now you know! It is very hard to find but, once you have found it you will be satisfied! For this DVD includes VIDEOZONE Magazine with interviews, and a behind the scenes look at the making of Puppet Master! It has merchandise, tells you their web site and address just in case you want to mail them! You also get a Trailer! This movie has great acting, great puppets, a great plot, and a great DVD to go along with it!
This is how the back of the DVD describes the Puppet Master!
Alex Whittaker, played by Paul Le Mat (Melvin & Howard, The Burning Bed), and three other gifted psychics are investigating rumors that the secret of life has been discovered by master puppeteer Andre Toulon, played by William Hickey (Prizzi's Honor, The Name Of The Game). The puppets are awesome because, they are these little to toys that you think are harmless but, they turn around and kill your... when you don't expect it! The gore effects are really good! The movie is really good! Also I believe that this is Full Moon's best effort yet! Buy this movie!

Summary: Puppet Master fun every time
Review: I love the Puppet Master movies. The storylines are fun even if they are not completely believable. The puppets are beautiful and loyal. I am forever a Blade fan and that alone makes these movies great. This one is great and the entire series is worth watching.
Keep the faith,

Summary: Puppet Master - LEGACY
Review: Let me sum this up for you in as short a space as possible:

Be FOREWARNED: This is not a full-length movie. It is a regurgitation of the previous REAL installments of the series. I am being generous with 2 stars only for the fact that most of the rest of the original series is either unavailable or very hard to obtain on DVD. It is for this reason alone that you may find it worthwhile to buy this 'story'. Even so, it is not really worth more than 6 bucks new. It can bring back pleasant memories if you have been a casual fan of the series and are willing to check these out on DVD technology. It does however, raise the question as to why the rest of the series has not been released yet or is easily available. The Full Moon trailers advertise other 80's gems such as DOLLS amongst others that should be and have no business not being on DVD...or at least available on here or your average DVD store.

Overall, I would say that if you are an ardent fan of the series, you may spend your time better watching something else. If you dig killer doll/puppet movies from the golden age of 80's horror, and haven't really gotten into this series as much as you wish you could, then pay the least amount for this as possible. I really wish I could say that it can hold you over for widely-released official versions of all the films, but I just can't.

Summary: Legacy isn't on par with previous Puppet Master movies
Review: Most of the reviews on here seem to be for the original Puppet Master. I agree that the first movie was great fun (I enjoyed the first seven films in the series actually) but this review is for Puppet Master Legacy which is the 8th film in the series.

Part 8 isn't as much fun as the previous films. Puppet Master fans may find themselves dissapointed with Part 8/Legacy because it's a "clip show" that uses clips from the previous 7 films! That's right - 95% of Puppet Master Legacy is flashbacks to previous Pupet Master films! It seems that Charles Band has fallen on hard times. Too bad. I'm a big fan of Band's previous work. I know he has a new one called Dr Moreau's House of Pain but the rest of his recent releases are retreads of previously shot footage. Thus in Puppet Master Legacy we get a few minutes of new footage involving a woman with a gun questioning the adult Peter, from part III, about Andre Toulon's secret and the rest of the film is all stock footage from Puppet Master 1 -7.

The heavy use of flashbacks ALMOST works but ultimately the movie doesn't deliver. Legacy might be OK if you go into it knowing that it's far from a new Puppet Master entry and if you haven't seen the previous Puppet Master films in quite some time. As a "clip show" it's fine but it's not what most fans of the series are looking for. Fans of the series who have seen the previous films many times will more than likely fail to find this entry particularly entertaining since they have seen 95% of this film before. The new cast (all two of em) are fine and there are far worse ways to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon in front of the tube than watching Puppet Master Legacy - but that's the highest praise I can give this one. I've enjoyed the 7 previous Puppet Master films a great deal though - so hell I'll be kind to this one and give it 2 1/2 stars.

Fortunately there's a 9th Puppet Master on the horizon! Sci Fi Channel will be showing Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys in December! We've been waiting forever for this so lets hope it's a good one. Even if it isn't Im perfectly happy with my DVD set of Puppet Master 1 -7 so I can't complain. Thanks for the fun Charles Band! I wish you the best with your future film projects and will be checking out Dr Moreau's House of Pain in the near future.

Keep the faith Puppet-heads! Puppet Master vs Demonic Toys is coming! Meanwhile: Take a look at Puppet Master 1- 7, pop some corn, enjoy a cold drink, kick back, and enjoy!

Summary: The End? Sad For So Many Reasons.
Review: You know that feeling you get when your favorite show that's been on for years ends with a clip show? Yeah that sucks doesn't it? "Puppet Master Legacy" takes this idea and applies it in movie form.

The continuity of this series has always been horribly skewed so I was interested to see how they tied everything together. I suppose they did a fairly good job, at least it seems to make sense. Although the explanation as to how Leech Woman died and then showed back up three movies later in perfect condition was still not touched upon. Darn, I was hoping that was at least one loose end they'd tie up!

I understand Full Moon barely had the budget to buy a Big Mac in the later years of thier movies. Heck I'm not even sure they exist anymore! But they at least were still in buisness last year (2003) because they churned out this blasfemous piece of garbage.

I will say that I'm glad the puppets (kind of) got an ending. But I wanted to see them work toward it, not sit passively by while the latest puppet master and some spy chick relived moments from the last seven movies. Not to mention the movie only lasted an hour and ten minutes AND there were no extras on the dvd.

It's sad that such a great francise had to deteriorate completely before it was laid to rest. R.I.P. Puppet Master. At least Full Moon can no longer bastarize your name.
