Rating: Summary: This one will chill you! Review: This is a very low budget 1972 horror flick concerning the return of a Vietnam vet to small town America after his parents had been notified he was dead. He acts very strange, won't eat or sleep, but has a strange craving... Bob Clark, who would become a huge cult icon with Black Christmas, Christmas Story, Porky's and Murder by Decree, cut his teeth on this low budgeter. His talent shines through. He was lucky enough to get a young Tom Savini to do the bloody effects. Richard Backus plays the young soldier. He is quite restrained and very creepy! This is one of the first anti-Vietnam War films. You've probably only seen it on late night TV. Now, Blue Underground releases the film in all it's glory: included are two commentaries (writer and director), an interview with Backus and a short about Savini. This is a must for early 70's horror freaks, and all others are invited to be creeped out!!
Rating: Summary: Old Fashioned Horror with no CG nonsense Review: This is one of the best Horror Movies ever made. By today's standards, it is a bit slow in spots, but try to visualize how it was back then during the Viet Nam era - things were slower; people were drafted into the Armed Forces and didn't have much of a choice; your Family hung on every word from Radio broadcasts, TV, and mail, to find out about their loved ones; the world was larger and people were more isolated, unlike today. Your Family wasn't "whole" until your Son or Daughter was home safely. If you didn't have a relative in the Service, you surely knew a close friend who did, and you knew their pain. Now, watch the movie and visualize hearing your Son was killed in action, but, he then appears at your doorstep. Watch his strange behavior and see his deterioration, and visualize how you would have felt. A very real movie with lots of emotion, if you know how to watch it.
Rating: Summary: 4.0 Stars! Dated but scary! Review: This movie is relatively cheap and the acting is a bit awful at times, however, the movie does succeed in scares. There's also some good comedy. The son's character is especially spooky.
Worth seeing for sure!
