Summary: Great movie, but be on the lookout!
Review: Let me just start by saying I truly enjoy this ghostly tale more and more with each and every viewing. It is intelligent, visually stunning and both warmly heartfelt as well as chillingly frightening. I do not have the DVD yet but do plan on purchasing it in the near future.
Just a quick word of warning...
Before purchasing an expensive new or used DVD (as this title is out of print), be aware that it is scheduled for re-release sometime in the near future (future undated). I am still debating myself weather to float the cash for this release or wait indefinately for the new one (sometimes it pays off to wait for a new transfer, as I sometimes wind up buying discs twice). Just thought I would key everyone in.

Summary: A spooky film with real horror
Review: Lukas Haas is a very talented actor and this is one of his best movies. This is a movie that parents and children can watch together and then sort out what could be real and what was someone's imagination. This is a good film any time of the year.

Summary: Some terrific moments, but...
Review: Maybe this is one of those movies that plays better the first time you see it. I've carried a warm spot in my memory of this film for years. It contains one of the single scariest moments I've ever seen in a film -- not the cloackroom scene, which seems to be everyone's favorite here. This (other) scene alone makes the movie worthwhile, definitely a must-see for horror fans. It's enough to make me go up right now and up my rating to 4 stars.So do I love it, or what? Well, no. I saw it in its entirety for the second time last night, and I was disappointed. It really is a muddled mass. Way too many plot threads, some of which seem to be abandoned as soon as they're mentioned. Way too many emotional moments that don't work well together...this may be the only film I've seen that tries to make slapstick work next to a child murder plotline. Most of the child actors are poor, and the grandparents were absolutely insufferable. There are a lot of great ideas in the film -- too many, really -- and there are moments where the execution is superb. I DO recommend that all horror fans see it once, but don't go in with overblown expectations. It's not great.

Summary: YAY! This movie is good!
Review: OMG I watched this movie like every halloween when i was a little kid, i thought it was like sooo scary, but not scary enough to scar me for life like "chucky" did. it's a really cool movie and now that im older i still like it! It's a great movie for kids like 6 and up and for adults!

Summary: A good old fashioned haunt!
Review: One of the scariest movies I've ever seen. It still scares me even though I've watched it a dozen times!! I love sharing it with new victims. I like that it's not gory and young teens can enjoy a good scare without the mayhem and destruction that most films today include.

Summary: A truly scary movie - without the graphic violence
Review: Other than two or three profanities and a couple of scenes, this movie might be appropriate for the whole family *BUT* it is scary. And it is a great flick. And the setting is a small town in 1962, where Dad is a small business man in his own ornamental iron shop and the streets are filled with people that you know and the downtown district is quiet and the school is clean and, well, it really takes you back a few years. The plot is so very sad - Frankie's mother has recently passed on and it is a loss that cuts him to the chase. He tries to help another child who has lost her mother. The movie was frightening and suspenseful but it didn't rely on slasher scenes or violence or gore. Good old fashioned suspense where the scariest stuff is what's going on in your head - because you're trying to figure out WHO or WHAT is after Frankie. My 20 year old daughter, who has sat through some contemporary violent flicks without batting an eye, could hardly watch "Lady in White." When it ended, she said "Mom, that was the scariest movie I've ever seen." And we all loved it!

Summary: I watched it 3 times!
Review: The directors cut of this film is excellent. Frank LaLoggia must be a genius. He wrote, directed, produced and even wrote the musical score for this film. The film is genuinely frightening. Even more interesting to me was watching the director's commentary. This new version has added on several minutes that were missing from the original film. Lukas Haas is the anchor of this picture. He is an extremely fine actor with a very wide range.

Summary: A quality suspense film
Review: The Lady in White is a quality film for all those that like ghost movies. This film is less of a horror film and more of a film that leaves you guessing about what is going to happen next. The plot deals with a young boy named Frankie who, while locked in the coat room at school, sees more than he was supposed to. The remainder of the film deals with Frankie and his brother trying to untangle the wed of mystery that results from Frankie's observations. Along the way they discover the Lady in White who adds fright and suspense to the story.
This is a very good movie that is proof that you don't need a huge budget to make a good movie. The film is blessed with good acting and a very good story that is almost never slow. The film punctuates the suspense with humor, so you are sure to experience a wide range of emotions over the course of the two hours or so. I would recommend this movie to people that like suspense and a good ghost story without all the gore and foul language that goes along with many films. It is a ghost story that will entertain almost anyone.

Summary: Not completely unbiased
Review: They don't make movies like this anymore - the closest mainstream one lately might have been 'The 6th Sense' - only because its in the same genre. Moreover, since the director went to my high school in Rochester, NY, he gave all the students (including myself) dibs on the small extra parts. So, unless you are from western NY, odds are you probably won't enjoy this film.
Its a thiller, not terribly scary - and not terribly accurate in its dipiction of 'The White lady' (Basically, the legend is nothing more than a Rochesterian version of Lizzie Borden). However, for nostalgia purposes, most of the movie was indeed filmed in upstate, NY (which really is the only beautiful time of year), thus, the cinematography is magnificent, if only to save the flawed plot and expected ending.
NOTE: If you happen to catch a young version of Zach Braff (the guy from 'Scrubs') don't blink - it's only me.
