Review: Dark Harvest is a movie about 6 kids visiting a farm inherited by one of their grandfathers, only to be stalked by Scarecrows seeking vengence from what the grandfather did to them. Wonderfully shot and with half of the cheese of your average horror film.

Summary: Painfully terrible horror film in every aspect
Review: Dark Harvest is an incredibly terrible horror film in every aspect. Bad acting, inept direction, poor special effects, horrible cinematography and fake looking lighting.I wanted every annoying character in this movie to die off fast so this movie would end quickly! The scarecrows looked so laughable that it was almost unreal. It looked like they bought skeleton masks at Wal-mart during Halloween and used them for this movie. The fake blood looked more like chocolate syrup with cherry sauce mixed in. The lighting in the movie looked so forced and fake that it constantly reminds you that this is a movie. During the outside night scenes it's obvious that there are high-beam lights (spot lights?) shining on the actors and background. Whoever it was that handled the lighting should quit that business for good. The script for the film seemed like it was written up in one night, seriously. We are talking really bad dialogue and characters here! I can't think of a single redeeming feature for this piece of garbage. If you're looking for a good horror film with Scarecrows get "Dark Night Of The Scarecrow" (1981) or "Scarecrows" (1988). Leave Dark Harvest to the crows......

Summary: NIGHTMARE MATERIAL
Review: DARK HARVEST reminded me of one of those nightmares you have where all kinds of horrifying things happen, in no order, for no reason, and you wake up before you get killed. It's that kind of "Halloween" dream. More stupid young people doing stupid things, with some really funny scarecrow effects. Okay for a night of horror "bees".

Summary: Good first movie
Review: Dark Harvest was well done for a first movie. Yes there were several scenes that could be picked apart as some of the other raters have done. I felt that there should have been more of a bridge between some scenes and more time spent with makeup such as Maggie's mouth. The special effects of the scarecrow being torn in half I thought was outstanding. One must remember that this is a low budget movie. That taken into account I thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to the next movie and seeing what the actors do in future films.

Review: Don't see this crappy SCIFI pictures ripoff of Signs. It's really bad. PS: This movie claims that it stars one of the Baldwin brothers (I forget which one). He's in it for 3 to 5 minutes in the begining and gets fried. Man, is this movie desperate for viewers.

Summary: Not even worth a rental
Review: Funny how the only people giving this movie decent ratings are from Virginia (where the film company is located) or West Virginia (where the film is set); you think they're insiders trying to boost the rating? Any self-respecting UNBIASED viewer can tell that this movie is junk within the first 3 minutes. The only things that made me watch it were the cover art, the fact that it was distributed by Lions Gate (I mistakingly thought this assured a level of quality, but it's actually made by a smaller company from Richmond, VA), and the fact that it seemed to be filmed on film, not video. Of course, none of this helps the horrible high school play acting, the terrible dialogue, the cheesy FX/make-up, and the utter lack of suspense or fright.

Review: I figured you couldn't go wrong since the box art looked professional and Artisan releases some entertaining movies. This is about as bad as it gets, folks!! D grade acting with a solid F for writing and special effects. No thrills to be found here other than from the additional trailers on the disc.

Summary: Great cheesy fun
Review: I found this movie at our local Best Buy and since it was shot fairly locally to me, I just had to have it. I have to say, I wasn't really disappointed at all. Sure, its cheesy and fairly cheaply made, but knowing it was a local production, I wasn't expecting a Lucas production! The acting was decent, the locales great and the script wasn't bad for the most part. The "special effects" weren't high caliber but there were a few "jumpy" moments in it that were enough to satisfy me. I think with some experience these folks could really make a theater-release quality film and I don't feel like I wasted my money on the purchase at all.

Summary: HILARIOUS!
Review: I loved this movie, but only because it was so bad that it was funny. I wouldn't buy it to save my life, but my friends and I rented it one night because we wanted a really bad film to make fun of, and this one didn't disappoint! Terrible actors, even worse dialogue, generic Hollywood slasher plot. However, the funniest part about this film is at the beginning, the subtitle on the screen identifies the location as "West Virgina." That's right. "VirGINA." Not "VirGINIA." My friends and I howled about that the whole time. We knew we were in for a great laugh, and we were indeed. The only good part of this entire movie is the completely unnecessary skinny dipping scene. The rest is sheer garbage, and it's great.
