That's the sound this DVD made when I tossed it in the box of "Films I Will Never Watch Again". The acting is miserable, vapid, and unconvincing. The storyline is basically a ripoff of the recently remade Dark Shadows series.

Premise: Man and woman fall in love, jealous husband tries to kill man but kills woman instead. Man through a pathetic contrivance becomes a vampire. 100 years later he finds the a woman who appears to be the reincarnation of the woman he loved, who again has a jealous and abusive husband, and an over-protective aunt. Vampire chases off aunt, kills husband, and vampire and woman live happily ever after, the end.

There. Now there is no reason for you to waste 90 minutes of your life watching this flick.

Summary: Good Premise Bad Execution
Review: In 1800's New Orleans, Jonathan Traverse (James Horan) is having an affair with Caroline (Denice Duff) who has an abusive husband. They are discovered and Caroline sacrifices her life to save Jonathan. Jonathan is heartbroken so he has a Voodoo priestess place a curse on him to sleep in a grave for 100 years. Then he'll rise and have a forte night to reclaim his love or he will die. Caroline (Vickie) has been reincarnated and has dreamed of this past life. Unfortunately she's once again married to the same abusive man whose just been released from prison and is looking for a little revenge.

The premise was very romantic and intriguing; but the execution onto film left a bit to be desired. For a low budget picture, the effects, scenery and costuming were well done by B Movie standards. The Romanian cemetery photographs Denice Duff shot and placed in the opening of the picture are breathtaking. Denice Duff's husband wrote the lullabye used in the picture as the love song. It was simply beautiful!

The acting of the principles, while not Oscar winning performances, was good but the supporting cast made it clear that they were trying to act especially the two police officers. The one glaringly unforgivable mistake was that the microphone could be seen dangling over the actors in many of the interior shots.

This picture took three years to be made due to budgetary problems so I find it difficult to believe that they couldn't recrop the shots to edit out the microphone. There's also one scene where Jonathan slits a man's throat. I can't imagine a vampire allowing all that blood to go to waste. I personally thought the alternative ending was better where the vampire dies. It was changed so that they could make a sequel.

The Behind the Scenes section was really just outtakes of the cast and crew goofing around on the set. There were no actor interviews. Since Denice Duff also directed the picture, we get her point of view on the director's comments but I would have enjoyed seeing an interview with James Horan.

Very disappointing; you're better off renting this one! Seeing James Horan in the buff and the hot love scene made it worth the rental cost!
