Rating: Summary: "Vanilla Sky" on bad acid trip minus ending that makes sense Review: "The Attic Expeditions" is a trippy film with an if-you-blink-you-might-miss-something feel that ultimately fails to materialize as either a horror, psyche-thriller or occult flick and withan ending that didn't make me go "aha!" but instead regret hanging in there to the end. There is carnage aplenty, famous faces (a cameo by Alice Cooper, Boxer from 'Xena', Seth Green and the bad guy from 'Re-Animator'), plenty of sex and nudity and a bit of "Groundhog Day meets Vanilla Sky" on a bad acid trip. If you like B horror flicks or are a Seth Greene fanatic and don't mind leavinf your plots unresolved, "The Attic Expeditions" might be worth the rental.
Rating: Summary: Mind warping horror... Review: "The Attic Expeditions" opens with our main character, Trevor, waking up four years in the future with little to no memory of who he is. He is sent to a correctional home where he, along with four others, must recuperate enough to go back to the real world. He gets a buddy, Douglas (Seth Green), who claims to have commited an insane act to his body to get him there. But Trevor is being watched by the mysterious and scheming Dr. Ek, who has motives for Trevor. Meanwhile, Trevor is having strange dreams about a chest in the attic of the house. What does all of this mean? What sort of plan does Dr. Ek have for Trevor? The final result is creepy and very suspenseful. Watching this in my basement in the dark, I was thoroughly frightened and thrust around. This is a great movie for those who like psychological thrillers. I strongly reccommend it.

Rating: Summary: The Attic Snoozes Review: As a lover of the strange and macabre, I thought this movie had real potential. Sadly, it didn't live up to that potential. The initial setup of a young man in an institution trying to piece together his memories of a bizarre ritual gone awry was promising. Andras Jones (Alice's brother in Nightmare on Elm Street 4) does a credible job of portraying the tortured patient. Jeffrey Combs, who I have always liked, is wasted here as the psycho doctor performing off-the-wall brain operations in hopes of discovering the whereabouts of the magic book our hero used in the aforementioned ritual. The rest of the cast, led by Seth Green, are decent as the other residents of the "house". Seth's character is by far the best. Unfortunately, these were the only high points of this film. The rest of this mish-mash is a series of dialogues and dream sequences that leave the viewer saying, "What did I just watch?" And this is by no means a compliment. The ending only suffices in enhancing this feeling. I gave this two stars only due to the acting, and a few interesting visual elements such as an attic trunk with a staircase inside. If you like truly bizarre movies with no real outcome, you may enjoy this. Otherwise, there are better choices out there.
Rating: Summary: he's not crazy...but maybe he is...but he's not... Review: Don't watch this movie alone. Not because it's particularly frightening, but because watching bad movies with other people makes them funny, instead of just drop dead boring and stupid. This movie is pretty bad, the plot line leaves much to be desired, and frankly you don't care whether the main character lives or dies. The main character, Trevor, goes to this halfway house because he killed his wife and he's crazy, there's a blonde girl with strange hair that pronounces "handsome" in some bizarre, otherworldly fashion, whom Trevor will have gratuitous sex with the afternoon after he meets her. Then there's Seth Green, who is the only thing this movie has going for it, who plays another of the crazy people. He's fairly memorable, especially since the rest of the movie is so terrible it makes him shine. Sort of ends with the classic "it was all just a dream...OR WAS IT?!" but by that time, you probably won't care. Stick in a couple more nauseating sex scenes, tack on a few loud noises that will make you jump, throw in a little blood and you have The Attic Expeditions. It's a good life.
Rating: Summary: What Happened? Review: I am an intelligent person and I love psychological mystery/horror stories but this one simply goes nowhere. I cannot recommend this movie to anyone. The acting is poor and the movie has a low budget campy feeling throughout. The worst thing about this movie is that it has no resolution. The ending of this movie simply does not make sense and I have no desire to watch it again to try to figure it out.
Rating: Summary: VISUALLY ENTERTAINING, FRUSTRATINGLY GOOD Review: I found this a very enjoyable, visually entertaining move -- but after seeing reviews that some didn't like it because it was boring to them, I realize that, as with many movies, I cannot guarantee that everyone will like it; rent it first. Confusing? Yes. That's bad? No. Has a very similar approach to other movies -- like Mulholland Drive, Jacob's Ladder, and An Occurance At Owl Creek Bridge (I never saw; only read). I include these because comparisons to movies that others found similar helped me approach a particular movie with a better understanding. Although similar, it definitely has its own style -- well acted, many twists in who the characters are, visually stunning in a very tense way, and very hyper. Continuously coming at you from the very beginning. The sound track didn't quite fit at times, and I found myself thinking of MTV, but it didn't stop me from enjoying; only slightly annoying. When I read some found it slow (boring and taking forever to get started), I have to wonder if we saw the same movie. Slow? It might seem that way; especially if you are impatient and want to immediately understand everything, as you wait to get to an ending that ties it all together, an ending that may make it crystal clear, and confusing for others who might find that the ending wrecks the whole movie for them; even I do not know if I interpreted it right, but I don't think that matters; to some it might. That's why you need to rent it first. I personally wouldn't buy it -- not yet, any way. If you can visually, and emotionally, go with the flow of the movie, you should enjoy it...
Rating: Summary: The Wait Was Sure Wurth It! Review: I have been waiting three years to finally see this movie and I have to tell you the wait was sure wurth it. Seth Green and Jeffrey Combs both give outstanding performances and for a first time director the movie was very well directed. So check this movie out if you want you sure won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Ok, that was a waste of 100 minutes.. Review: I just finished watching the movie, and literally had to come online to see if anyone else made sense of it. Apparently not.. it COULD have been a good movie if they had ended it and provided some closure, but absolutely NOTHING was answered. The only reason I give it one star is because this could have been a good movie, and had some decent nudity in it.
Rating: Summary: AMAZING!!! Review: If you like weird movies, this is the movie for you. It was set up brilliantly for people who enjoy analyzing movies. Some people might find the plot confusing, but I really liked how the movie played with my mind. Although suspenseful, it also had some very funny moments. The actors were all great and convincing. My heart raced with almost every scene. I recommend this movie to all people who enjoyed movies like "The Following," "Memento," and "Vanilla Sky." When you watch the movie you have to piece things together. Don't watch this movie if you are tired.
