Summary: Warning: Movies Can Suck
Review: Watching a bad movie is a far from pleasent experience, but watching a bad movie that had the potential to be good, or even great, is just plane sickening. Perhaps I'm jaded from years and years of horror films that managed to transcend the B-nature of their genre and become true art, perhaps I'm spoiled from masterpieces like Scream and Halloween or even Curse of the Demon (going way way back in the day), perhaps I've just seen so many of these slasher pics that it is impossible to impress me anymore. . .or, perhaps this movie just sucked. [] Lets get specific, the acting is at best, mediocre, and at worst, well, hideous. Ringwald has demonstrated in other films her abilities as an actress (just one example being the plodding Fresh Horses in which she gave a stunning performance in an otherwise monotonous film), so, when you see someone who is a professional giving a spotty and strained performance where do you point the finger? The Director: the direction of this film is just non-existant. Its as if all the actors just showed up and some randome person yelled "action" and they all began to struggle their way along with no perspective or guidence. So, superb actors become mediocre and otherwise mediocre actors become wretched. [] The cinematography is clumsy and uninspiring, unimaginitive, uneducated, amatureish (and not in an arty way), and just plane unforgivable. The best comparison I can come up with for how poor the cinematography is is an old episode of Starsky and Hutch, if you've ever seen one you can imagine what I mean. The editing is confounding, things are out of place and unclear, vague, obtuse, frustrating. [] And the writing, oh dear, I don't think I've seen such a gulf between a really cool idea and really terrible writing since Phantom Menace. Dialogue is so stilted and cliche the film might be better with the sound turned off (trust me though, it's just as bad). The characters are cardboard cutouts; unengaing, lost in a sea of empty moments, you never ever get to know them, and so you don't get to care for them, and so you feel no stress, no apprehension, no empathy, no fear, you don't care if they live or die, you have no investment in the film. [] Ever see a preview/movie trailer for a film, then see the film, then wonder what the heck happened? The slick super keen trailer with wonderful editing and film effect technique and great use of background music made me want to see this movie. But once I saw it I realized why this film was not released theatrically in the States, and why Blockbuster only had one dvd up for rent and none for sale, and why no one I've talked to has even heard of this film. It isn't for lack of advertising, its for lack of quality. Don't see this film, don't waste your time, don't breathe underwater, and by all means, never ever ever turn a great idea into a film that might be better burnt in a car (which refuses to explode and is inexplicably void of the bodies it had moments earlier). [] As a last little note, in addition to the cool trailer, I rented this film mainly for Molly Ringwald as I'm rather a big fan. But even die-hard fans of Molly might do best to just forget they ever even heard the name "Cut."

Summary: Awful Aussie Flick
Review: When I first heard about Cut, I was excited. For one, Australia was finally making a horror film of it's own. I couldn't wait to see it. I heard promising results. Then, after seeing it, I was VERY dissapointed. I allowed myself to buy the DVD before seeing it, and I instantly wished I had my money back. The acting is terrible. Molly Ringwald's character is the only one fit to watch. Don't waste your money on this one, folks. I regretted it.
