Summary: Classic, quality made movie
Review: King Cobra is one of the most enjoyable, well made independent horror thrillers that I've seen in years. For me, one of the most important elements of this type of film are the jump-scares and the directors have carefully crafted several in the film that are just great. I love the back story of Filmore and the microbrewery. Eric Estrada's bit part is hilarious. Knowing a fair bit about snakes, I can tell you that, almost all the details in the film about this 30 foot snake and how they go about capturing it are accurate. The way in which Hashimoto, the character played by Pat Morita cpatures/fights the snake is so cool. His wrangling sticks are completely accurate, just made larger for the size of the snake. It is obvious that someone did their homework and this accuracy make the film believable, scary and effective. Rent it, buy it. A must for any true collector of this genre. By the way, the filmmakers have a new horror/thriller coming out called Pinata - I checked out the website http://www.pinatathemovie.com recently - I can't wait for it to come out.

Review: King Cobra tries to be a monster/ horror movie but it just doesn't work. The special effects and the story are weak and the snake looks ridiculous. Combine this with below par acting and you have one bad movie. If you must see this, rent it, but I must advise you to save your money, this one is not worth buying.

Summary: Its Bark is Worse Than its Bite...
Review: King Cobra

I didn't know this was a sequel to the 1997 sleeper "Anaconda" until I looked it up on IMDb. Needless to say, it's worse than the original.

"The Karate Kid" star Pat Morita (yeah, the Chinese guy) stars as a snake hunter who must track down a genetically-altered King Cobra python-whatever when it escapes its super-duper high tech prison: a tin cage. Wow, the government must really be cutting down on containment these days. Anyway, Pat goes after the snake with the help of Scott Hillenbrand (also co-director of this journey) and Casey Fallo, who do, of course, fall in love and kiss right after a snake is about to chomp their heads off. But that's okay - it's in the script.

There are countless things in this film that are truly laughable, including the scene where Pat Morita tells Hillenbrand that he injects himself with snake venom to acquire an immunity to it. You can see the regret in Pat's eyes. He knows this is a stinky movie, and he hates having to say what he's saying. He's been around in the Hollywood circuit long enough to know that saying that kind of thing can get a film - and an actor - killed. But directors can be very picky about their films. I just thought of something that rhymes with 'picky,' as well.

Pat Morita is in the low-point of his career. Actually, let's face it: He doesn't have a career. He got lucky off a few 'Karate Kid' movies, and his fame disappeared instantaneously. He tried to get back in the acting showbiz with 'The Next Karate Kid,' but his plan backfired, and his apprentice in the film became the one to gain worldwide recognition AND an Oscar (Hilary Swank). Too bad for Pat.

Scott Hillenbrand is like scraping the bottom of the barrel. His acting talent is niltch. He can't direct or act, which leaves me to wonder...how did he get his big break? I can't imagine he gained anything from the 1997 thriller 'Hostile Takeover'.

David Hillenbrand, Scott's brother, is the other co-director of this film. And quite frankly, they both share the family gene specialty, which is being manager at a McDonald's somewhere out in Oklahoma. That's their specialty, and they should stick to it.

Saying this movie is bad is like saying "Anaconda" was sort of bad. The original was awful enough, but this sinks even lower in the depths than the original.

Sure, it's great for a Friday or Saturday night when you've got nothing else to do. But in all honestly, I'd rather waste 93 minutes of my life on something good than something below-average, even if it has a campy quality to it (and not much at that!).

Worth avoiding at all costs. Well, almost all costs. It's hard to keep a straight face when Morita says he injects himself with snake poison. What a pathetic way to make the hero immune to venom. B-A-D is written all over this straight-to-video flop.

Review: Ok lets get to the point. This is clearly a rip off of anaconda wich wouldnt be so bad if had been pulled off well.i realy wasnt expecting a great movie here but i at least thought it would be watchable....to bad it wasnt the script was weak (a giant snake being caught in a big plastic tube get real)the acting was terrible( oh no! its a big snake)...get the idea the effects were really bad the whole thing was done with a cheaply made animitronic snake that looked like the rubber ones you had when you were a kid the snake attacts consisted of this snake standing eye levle with people makeing single strikes at them it looked like a big hand puppet.i knew it wouldnt be great but this was horrible if you want a decent snake movie get anaconda

Summary: king cobra-another low-budget snake movie
Review: overall this movie is pretty feeble. there are loads of this kind of movie around at the moment and this continues the trend of being rather bad. originality-what i think is the most important thing in any movie- i'd give about 25%. yes, it really is that bad.
the effects are poor too, escpecially all the cutting views of the snake when that man dies (that really fobs me off!) and the snake itself needs improvement. the tactic of keeping us from seeing the snake until near the end while not being original wroked quite well, it's a pity the snake itself is so disappointing. i expected better from this, perhaps i shouldn't have. it has 'made for tv' virtually written all over it. it really wouldn't be hard to find a better movie than this to waste your time. acting is awful, i can't name any of the actors at all, and above all this movie is forgetteable. the production design on the box is quite good though.
my view on this is if you are under ten or really, really bored rent this, but otherwise don't.
