Rating: Summary: Pretty good but it still has big flaws Review: Giant snake movies have been popular enough for quite a few of them to be made. This one involves a giant snake that is half king cobra and half diamondback rattler. That alone would make for a nasty critter, but there is no explanation as to why the thing is so big. There is also a gap after the snake escapes (before the credits) and the main bulk of the movie. We get a screen with the words "2 Years Later". What has the giant snake been doing in all that time? There was a touch of Jaws added in that the snake comes to a small town that is just about to be in the middle of a festival that spells financial freedom for much of the town (a local brewery is going to go national). Our cast of characters includes the Mayor (Hoyt Axton is great as usual), his daughter who is a police officer, and her boyfriend who is the town doctor but is moving to the big city. Add the scientist whose lab the snake escape from (actually a good guy) and a herpetologist (Pat Morita) and you have pretty much the whole thing. While this snake is huge, it is not bulletproof like Python. It is a normal genetically-spliced specimen. Ordinary tactics will work against it. The film does a pretty good job of adding some tension and scenes that make you jump or flinch (something lacking from most of the snake movies). All in all a pretty good effort.

Rating: Summary: Possible To Like For Different Reasons Review: I am surprised to find that anyone thought this was a scary, well-acted, "carefully crafted" movie - their standards must be rather low. However giving King Cobra a low rating and being critical of its low-budget special effects, implausible action scenes and tired dialogue misses the fun: it's so bad it's good. Seeing Pat Morita seriously try to wrangle a giant snake, going mano a mano ("hand-to-hand") with the cobra spitting venom in his face, while Pat tries to subdue it using a pole is so lame one can only smile incredulously. Upon witnessing Pat saving the cobra's life from a shotgun blast only to then complain, "We've got to get that damn cobra before it gets one of us!" I could only shake my head. When no one bothers to watch where the giant snake slithers off to because they're too busy talking to each other about "the plan" I grinned at the director's failure to even try for believability. It helped that I found this movie in the bargain bin and that I drink alot.
Rating: Summary: This movie isn't that bad Review: I don't understand it. This movie could be "Sssssss 2", a sequel to Richard Zanuck and David Brown's earlier film "Sssssss" starring a very young Dirk Benedict. That duos next movie project, by the way, was "Jaws". ... King Cobra was better acted and had better special effects than "Sssssss" and the writer was obviously influenced somewhat by that earlier film. In this movie, a genetically altered Cobra/Rattlesnake hybrid escapes from a lab because of the head-researchers' "poor people skills" and goes on a killing spree two years later. It's up to Arnold from "Happy Days" to save the day by attempting to kick some serious snake butt, without using any karate moves at all. The scene where the overzealous hunters got their ... kicked by the snake was a hoot. And you can't miss Eric Estradas' cameo role as a... beer distributor. He was very good... maybe a little TOO good. The use of sudden bass drum effects were very well timed and had me literally jumping out of my seat, on more than one occasion! If you're in the mood for a different kind of cheesy monster movie with bits of good old fashioned humor, give this one a try.

Rating: Summary: AweSSSSSSSome, SSSSSSSnake Movie! Review: I got this DVD for X-Mas and watched it as soon as I could! I never got a chance to review it until now, so here it goes:
A group of animal chemists are experimenting with several spieces of snakes, one the ameature docs (who injected himself with drugs before the accident), messes everything up and accidentally combines the DNA of an EASTERN DIAMONDBACK RATTLESNAKE and an INDIAN KING COBRA together!
RESULT: A 30-foot, killer, half rattler, half cobra serpent is created!
This is one of the best "creature features" around. The actors are really good and the snake is terrifyingly realistic! It also gave my Grandmother nightmares!

THE BEAST. 7. CROCODILE (1981). 8. BOA. 9. PYTHON.
Rating: Summary: absolutely wonderful Review: i have not seen such a refreshing and beautifully made movie for years. it is obvious the creators represent a new generation in film-making. the characters are vivid, true and inspirational. the image of the beast is far better than the new star wars immitations. buy this movie, send money to the producers so they can make more films!!!
Rating: Summary: instead Review: I reccommend Komodo instead. I prefer shark movies, but I liked Komodo better than all the croc, gator, snake movies i've seen.
