Summary: an entertaining gory unromantic ship movie
Review: The opening scene is way gory, so if you have a queasy stomach you might want to fast-forward this. In 1962, a luxury liner makes it all the way to the Mediterranean Sea with absolutely no one on it, although it was supposed to be full of upper-crust passengers.

In the present day, a team of salvagers find the boat (in international waters so it's theirs, all theirs!) They climb aboard to attempt to repair it and sail it back to their port. Maureen Epps (Julianna Margolies) sights a little girl, who was once a passenger. Obviously no way is a little girl on a creepy abandoned ship from 40 years ago, so Maureen questions whether or not she is seeing a ghost. Others run into similar incidents, and they discuss it and how it affects what they are doing. Despite being creeped out -- and even finding the bodies of the last group of salvagers who tried to fix the ship -- they not only stay on the ship, but explore abandoned rusty passages all alone without any back-up! Other things are stupid -- why are there so many rats when there has been no food on the ship for 40 years? (But then, why are there ghosts trapped on a ship?)

The visual effects are stunning, as in one scene where they recreate around a salvager the destroyed ball room back to its fabulous heyday with the enchanting Italian songstress and her tuxedoed guests. Another, remisinscent of Robert Zemeckis' work on 1996 "The Frighteners", has Katie showing Maureen how everyone on the ship truly met their demise, set in real time and to a jarring modern hard-rock guitar riff. There is so much gore and violence in such quick succession that I was really stunned, and I thought I was a jaded movie-goer.

However, a lot of things that happen with the ship we have already seen in 1997's Titanic (and pretty much everyone saw that movie) so it is not all that great the second half of the movie. Considering everyone on the ship is already dead anyway.

Emily Browning is a stand-out as the young dead Katie Hargrove. Watching her as a young child traveling to meet her parents when she suddenly meets a horrifying scene of mass violence and her own death is gruesome, because she acted it out appropriately, without being over-the-top about it.

Summary: Absolutely a boring horror film, old story line
Review: The film Ghost Ship is just about a demon who lurk as many crews as he could into the ghost ship and then kill them all. So he could collect their souls. Only a teenage girl always appears in the ghost ship to warn those treasure hunter because the soul of this girl is too pure/innocent to be caught by the demon guy! Therefore you always see that girl walking around the ship and sends out warning. I think that by creating a ghost ship to collect human souls is very rediculous. Save your pocket money, pal!

Summary: 'Shock Waves'-Peter Cushing
Review: Reminds me of 'Shock Waves',but doesn't leave you feeling scared at the end of the movie. The ghost of the little girl talks way too much, the 'demon' at the end of the movie gives his whole life story, which in turn leaves you feeling more bored than scared. This movie reminds me of another movie about a female ghost who at the end of the movie spends like 20 minutes giving her whole life story on how she died, which leaves you bored after the first 2 minutes, same thing for this movie. I give this movie 5 stars because 95% of American movies now a days stink with lousy story plots, this 'director' at least gave it some effort, can't condemn him for that.

Summary: Evil ghosts, stolen gold and a bit of gore...a decent movie
Review: At salvage crew sets out for the Bering Sea to locate a deserted ship and to bring her back in. One stormy night, they come across the ship, almost out of nowhere, and it turns out to be none other than the Antonio Graza, an Italian cruise ship lost at sea in 1962. The crew's captain recalls that every salvage crew around the world has been looking for this ship and its cargo of gold bars. Eerie things start to happen, such as the sighting of a young girl, music replacing the chatter on the walkie talkies, a digital watch found in the helm. Soon, the salvage crew is fighting for their lives against the evil forces at work in the ship.

This is a decent movie, if somewhat predictable. Julianna Margulies (as Maureen Epps) and Emily Browning (as Katie Hargrove) are both quite good and wind up being the only characters I cared about. What really stands out in this movie are the special effects and the creepy atmosphere of the ship. The opening sequence alone is quite ingenious and sets the mood for the enitre film. The interior of the ship itself is dark and gloomy, and ranges from narrow, claustrophobic hallways to cavernous, tomb-like rooms.

Also, some of the extras on the DVD are worth watching, such as the featurette about how all the gore sequences were created. There is also a game which, if played correctly, reveals some insight into the events of that fateful night when the Antonio Graza disappeared.

The overall story is a bit formulaic, but with just enough visual candy to make it worth while.

Summary: Not just a formula horror flick.
Review: After the opening 5 minutes of this movie I began to fear the worst, as the director seemed to need to rely on images of visual gore, rather than the macabre in grabbing the viewers attention. What follows however is pleasantly suprising, and has a great deal of well directed suspense, and scary moments.
A seasoned crew of salvage experts (led by Gabrielle Berne) are approached by a young reporter who claims to have found a missing ocean liner (hinted as a contemporary Mary Celeste) and are immediately interested from a financial standpoint.
Once the vessel is found and they are aboard they begin having strange encounters with the ships previous inhabitants (now the Ghosts of the title) and start to rapidly believe they should not have taken the job. The script moves up a notch or two at this point, and really keeps you guessing as to what is going on - one or two "jump" scenes are woven in to the story as it moves towards it's climax and the ending is very cleverly (and unexpectedly)suspenseful, leaving the hairs standing on the back of your neck. Not for everyone, and some of the schlock moments are more than a little graphic, but very polished and well made movie. Enjoy

Summary: A surprisingly decent horror film
Review: Usually one can tell what a movie is about from within the first 15 minutes. Ghost Ship however throws a curve ball in there when the plot takes a sharp twist.

The story is about a group of ship retrievers (for when a boat is stranded) who are hired to pull in a mysteriouse cruise ship that has appeared out of no where. A little reluctant at first they eventually ho out to retrieve the ship. However things get really weird when they board the ship and discover that there is no one on board. There to do their job they set out the repair hte ship a little and pull it back in. However one by one each one dies by a mysteriouse being, and it is not what you would expect.

This movie containse a high level of GOre (especially in the beggining) as well as nudity and language. It is one of the better horror films to come out in a while, but not the best overall.

Summary: Event Horizon by any other name
Review: How can people get away by taking a great story, change the venue and consider it original. Isn't that what so many B-grade movies are? Event Horizon - a classic. The best Sci-Fi Horror to date. This a cheap rip-off.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: NOT the scariest movie ever made.
Review: Scares are few, but this has alot of gore and humor, so I'd definately recommend seeing this. Alot of people hated it, simply because it wasn't that scary, but I loved it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: good movie, very great plot
Review: 1st of all for all those pple who thought it was a terrible movie they hav no sense of a interesting movie....the characters were well develpoved enough any more details and we would be bored. I loved how everything was so peaceful and went into death and horror and left us in suspence and by the end it would reveal the secrets about the ghost ship. And there even was a moral how greed blinds you. If you dont like all tha gore thats ur opinion ,you dont have to go sayin its terrible because off all the gore, all movies have gore and if you dont like it THEN DONT WATCH SCARY MOVIES DUHHHH!
