Summary: Grade B Horror Film's Grade: 2\5
Review: "Ghost Ship" is another grade B horror film that just isn't scary. Director Steve Beck is more interested in mood and showmanship, but unfortunately, he can't even get that right despite some spooky art direction and what looks to be a pretty big budget. And this isn't the first time that Beck has told a ghost story, he directed "Thirteen Ghosts," which, in my opinion, is one of the better horror films in recent history.

"Ghost Ship" could have been fun had it gone in more interesting and unpredictable directions. Instead, we're treated to a fairly dull movie experience with one dimensional characters and very few scares. And it's all capped off by a sequel-ready ending complete with an obtrusive hard rock tune that offsets any sense of terror "Ghost Ship" might have had to offer.

In my opinion, this film should not be purchased. It is an okay rent, but make sure it a 99cent rent, as more would be a waste of your money.

Summary: Good intentions
Review: Right from the start you can see that this film had alot of potintial. For a film that had one of the greatest openings i have ever seen, and a good ending it had a very average middle. The best thing you can say about this film is that they tried. But don't get it wrong, there were those few moments of pure horror gems, in fact the idea of the film is a great idea. The thing is they didn't go in the right direction with it. Mark Hanlon and John Pogue had a wonderfull idea with this film, and you can tell that director Steve Beck tried to give us a worth while movie. Example of that is the scene were the little girl is showing our hero what happend that night on the ship when every one was murdered. That scene alone could make any viewer at least rent this film. All in all we are left wanting more, but the film tried it's best to give its all. Is it a classic...no, but is it worth your time....yes[at least once].

Summary: It's a fun movie- but lacks the scare factor
Review: I am a horror/thriller movie lover, so this movie did not really scare me too much, but for those who can't quite handle too much scare, this is for you. The plot is basic and there is a little twist in it, most of all I just enjoyed the actors, they all had great character definition, which is nice in a thriller. There are no ditzy characters that walk into the scene when they shouldn't. Their actions are more realistic. Especially Karl Urban, whom I like very much. It is fast-paced and thery get to the point pretty quickly, real nice EFX, if you are into that.
Overall a fun movie to watch.

Summary: Ghost Twist?
Review: First of all I dont want to scare anyone away from watching "Ghost Ship." (no pun intended) Fans of Juliana Marguilles who want to know what she's been doing since she left her job at the county ER will enjoy this movie, because she is the star. This movie has apparitions, doors slammings, thunks, thuds, blood curdling scenes of mayhem, and more. Once the stars are stuck on the ship we see some weird behavior start. If you enjoyed Jack Nicholson in "The Shining" (he's not in this) you may enjoy the way the crew of this little salvage ship slowly has their minds taken over by the terror filled ship, just as Jack was taken over by the Overlook Hotel. I'll just say this: What happened in the past is sure to happen again and again on this ship unless our crew becomes aware of the situation. There is a neat little plot twist at the end that could set up a "Ghost Ship II." The price is right, its a fun adventure. On a par with "The Fog."

Summary: Sea Evil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Finders Keepers. Any abandoned ship floating in international waters can be claimed and towed to port by whomever so is and fortunate enough to find it, or in the case of one team of salvage experts....unfortunate enough to find it.
Ghostship is a styleish, eff4ects packed chiller. Salvagers trained for any situation imaginable come face to face with the unimaginable after boarding a derelict luxury liner.
From the beggining of the movie it takes you into a never before seen realm of horror and mass slaughter, to the very end of the movie, where my girlfriend actually cried. A great movie to watch on Halloween or anytime you want the clingyness of your significant other.
LOaded with DVD extras, games documentaries an an very impressive music video by mud vayne...the not falling video. This movie offers all kinds of goodies. Get it, if you dare.

Summary: Very Cool!
Review: First off, this film wasn't scary, but very unpredictable and many scenes were unexpected. I love to watch this movie over and over again. It was great. The wire scene was incredible and cool. This movie had everything-blood,gore,big explosions, violence, good acting and was fast paced. The wire scene is the best opening scene, along with D-Day in SPR. If you are easily scared and hate gore, don't see this. Buy and enjoy.

Summary: Scary but Not Creative
Review: Ghost Ship was the single most frightening movie I have ever seen. I was absolutly blown away by the scene with the maggots. I will never view canned beans the same way again.
However, my praise for this movie ends there.
Was this haunting inspired by the theft of the valuables or the devil or the food poisoning or some combination of the three? Its anyone's guess!
One very insightful reviewer explained that The Ferryman is a biblical reference. Even if someone could get out of hell by bringing souls to the devil, it wouldn't endear him to God and he wouldn't make the cut for heaven anyway.
I also dont understand how The Ferryman {even with a different name and face} could keep luring victims. Sooner or later, even the most greedy treasure hunters would catch on!

Summary: Bashful's DVD Summary #039
Review: Best:

1) It was scary and unpredictable. If you examine the whole story, it's pretty packed even though it plays very simply.
2) They did a lot with practical special-effects without resorting to many cgi graphics.
3) The opening gore scene is very memorable and something you'll want to replay over and over.
4) You get good acting from well-chosen star talent.
3) There are a few worthwhile behind-the-scenes shows that augment the movie well.

Worst:

1) The hip-hop music track was completely inappropriate at times (especially when they were flashing back to the 1962 scenes).
2) The story is a little hard to understand, so you might have to rewatch it to really get it all.

Recommendation:

This is Halloween great that you can easily watch once a year and notice something new each time. It's got suspense, ghosts and lots of bloody deaths (that weren't overdone) - what's not to love.

Summary: Definitely need someone to cling on to during this!
Review: This film has a very creepy cover, and I've wanted to see it for a while. It's done by the same producers who did House On Haunted Hill (seen), and Thirteen Ghosts (next up to see!) I enjoyed House On Haunted Hill, and I ended up enjoying this!

It starts off very much like a cheap and tacky soap opera, judging by the severely dodgy music and even dodgier curly and PINK font on the credits! I was quite shocked at this, as this isn't your stereotypical way to display all the lovely people who were involved in a movie. And definitely not in PINK!

Starting off in 1962, we're soon transported forward in time to the present day, a tried and tested trick in films these days. We're introduced to Gabriel Byrne, the appropriately named "Murphy" - even though it makes me think of Jack Nicholson's character in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.

Full of scary ghosts, and a bratty little girl, who keeps appearing alive and scaring Julianna Margulies shipless. Either I didn't get it, or it never really explains why all the other characters on the ship are dead, and she appears seemingly alive, although she is a ghost. I probably didn't get it, knowing me.

A lot of scenes featuring the ghost ship and other certain parts seem stolen from another great film about a ship - Titanic of course. One particular scene at the end, where Julianna Margulies is lying on a piece of wreckage, is very similar to Kate Winslet lying on a piece of wreckage! The whole storyline made little bells start ringing, as it's the story of the Marie Celeste (the ship which disappeared and then reappeared, with no crew or passengers on it), just extended. Murphy even mentions the Marie Celeste during the movie.

The finale is just simply unsatisfying. It's left almost hanging, and it ruined the whole movie for me, and it seems that there may or may not be a sequel - it seems as if the underlying storyline could keep recurring. I'd rather it wouldn't seem that the whole story could recur. You'll know what I mean when you see the film. It's a favourite in film, particularly in horror movies, for people to be shot, burnt, blown up - and then appear alive.

This is one of the scariest movies I've seen this year, and although I like scary movies, it's not one I would watch again - simply because it was too scary for little frightened old me. It's definitely a keeper though, to watch again when you're in the mood for a toe curling scary film.

Summary: Good suspense!
Review: When I first saw this one out, I wasn't sure I was going to watch it. It seemed like one of those that had been done before, if you know what I mean. Imagine how pleasantly surprised I was to find it a really great adventure! There are some nice twists in this movie that I actually didn't see coming. Great acting, too!
