Summary: If you love giant bug movies...(and who doesn't?)
Review: Fans of giant monster movies unite. Yes, you. The same people who loved Jurassic Park, Tremors, and Jaws. The same people who (can you believe it?) sat through the sequels to all these movies just to see more movies with cheesy plots about monsters chomping innocent people. Your time has come.This movie doesn't try to be serious. It tries to be ridiculous. It's a perfect parody of every monster movie ever. The toxic waste that makes the spiders grow. The nerdy kid genius who no one will believe. The oh-so-lovely female sherrif. The local consiracy theory freak. The greedy bad guy who's responsible for the disaster. The ordinary guy turned loveable hero. Oh, and the Giant Spiders. Yes, despite all the classic trimmings, this movie is really about the Giant Spiders. And they don't disappoint. They're creepy, crawly, explode nicely, drip ooze, and (I love this) screen when shot and laugh when they think they're going to get you. Some people love the special effects, some people hate them. I love them. But what I love more than the special effects is the dialog in this film. Everybody plays their character well in this movie, but some of the lines they say in this film are really hilarious. I recommend this movie to anyone who loves giant monster movies. It's worth watching just to see Kari Wuhrer again. I loved her in Beastmaster II:Through the Portal of Time (I can't believe I just said that).

Summary: Creepy Crawlers
Review: The attack of big bug films continues into 21st century with the Sci-fi flick "Eight Legged Freaks". In the quiet town of Prosperity, Arizona, a toxic spill mutates the arachnids of a local spider farm to gigantic proportions. Soon, the eight legged terrors invade the town and the community fights for survival. "Eight Legged Freaks" is an amusing Sci-fi romp in tradition of such creature features like "Gremlins" and "Tremors". The campy storyline is predictable with obvious plot holes but it's the eye-popping visual effects and rousing humor that actually drives this comedy/horror tale. The movie contains some effective thrills and pleasing action sequences. The cast is passable with David Arquette and Kari Wuhrer in decent roles. Doug E. Doug and Rick Overton deliver some good comic moments as two of the town's eccentric citizens. Though the movie failed in theaters, Warner has definately given the film a great DVD presentation. The DVD has a fine widescreen transfer with colorful detail and sharpness. The Dolby Digital sound is crisp and quite amusing. The DVD features filmmakers' commentary, deleted scenes, theatrical trailer and DVD-ROM extras. The animated menus are surprisingly clever and well done. Overall, this DVD earns a "B-".

Review: This is a very good movie about giant spiders who wreak terror on an Arizona town and threaten the lives of it's citizens and they now decide to take up arms and defeat these giant predatory spiders. This is really funny movie if you're not looking for anything that makes you 'think'.

Summary: Eight thumbs up!
Review: Eight Legged Freaks will undoubtedly be compared to Tremors or Piranha, which is not a good thing. Those films were standard monster thrillers laced with humor and Eight Legged Freaks is more like Gremlins, a black comedy with scary parts sprinkled throughout its running time. Toxic waste (the 21st century's atomic radiation) makes the exotic spiders at Taft's Exotic Spider Farm in small town Prosperity, Arizona grow to enormous (and quite hungry) proportions. When the attacking arachnids run out of pets and livestock to eat they turn on the only food left, people. What follows is some funny/scary attack scenes and a whole lotta spider squashing. The effects range for passable to breath taking (the giant tarantula is simply beautiful to behold at times) and the movie has several priceless moments - the hopping spiders chasing the dirt bikers being my personal favorite. A great summer b-movie, one I give my highest recommendation.

Summary: 50¿s Sci-Fi Meets 21st century CGI
Review: Do you like 50's scf-fi flicks about giant mutated insects? If so, then Eight Legged Freaks is for you. In the tradition of THEM!, Eight Legged Freaks is the story of a small town in Arizona that is attacked by giant spiders mutated by toxic waste. The movie benefits from excellent CGI effects as several species of spiders ranging from "jumpers" to tarantulas wreak havoc on the town. The film uses just the right amount of tongue and cheek humor and dark comedy to offset the simplistic story line. While not particularly gory, there are quite a few scenes of the spiders attacking people and animals so it's not for the squeamish. Arachnophobes are guaranteed to get the "willy's". The picture of the widescreen DVD is crisp and clear. Much of the action takes place at night and no detail is lost on the dark colored spiders against the black background. Good use is made of the Dolby 5.1 track. Listed closely to the sounds the spiders make. It tended to remind me of "Gremlins". Extras on the disc include a commentary track, an alternate ending, and deleted scenes. I would have liked to have seen a feature on the special effects used to create the spiders. Overall the film is a great example of what 50's sci-fi would look like today. The "shock" factor keeps it from being suitable for very young kids. It is highly recommended for fans of the genre and a must for your creature feature DVD library. Give it a try on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Review: Eight Legged Freaks was a great movie! It is the best monster spider movie I've ever seen. The digital spiders weren't cheap looking at all. They looked very realistic especially the Jumping spiders and the Orb Weavers. It is good for people who are interested in giant spiders (like me who has eight normal size Tarantulas) The plot is good with the idea of normal size spiders digesting toxic waste and growing huge and trying to survive by eating the citizens of Arizona. A good frightening movie for some and fun scientific ride for others.

Review: This a bad movie that is only interesting for it's comedy. David Arquette does a good job(as always) but that is about the only thing worth watching this. There aren't any great features either.

Summary: SPIDER ALERT! 14th april 2004.
Review: HUGE SPIDERS THAT GROW BIGGER EACH TIME YOU SEE THEM. A man owns at least 200 different types of spiders, in which he keeps them closed in tanks. What he dosen't realise, is he left one of the tops open and the biggest manages to get out. Soon after all of them get out, they grow massive and erupt the whole town. It's discusting in parts. And loads of people are in danger well nearly everyone. I saw it and never wanted to eat anything, it is so horrible in parts, especcially when they shoot them and you can see the green. It isn't a scary film, but it is not everyones cup of tea. I hired it first, and i think everyone who isn't sure about it should hire it first.
