Summary: MORE DISGUST THAN FEAR
Review: A dentist is obsessed with his work and, as a result, withcleanliness. He thinks that cleanliness and moral integrity are thesame thing. He has a young and sexy wife, but just in the weddinganniversary he discovers his wife betrays him with a young workman(and naturally, the mouth is very important, in thisbetrayal...). We cannot understand if he really sees this...orit's only an his hallucination. But the effects are very real! Hewants to have a turnout by torturing or killing his patients, and thisis a terrible idea in the mind of a dentist. Surely this is a notimportant film, but who searches for hard emotions can find them here.Sometimes, you will close your eyes because you fear another hideousscene. But...when you have to go at your dentist, you will want toknow how does his marriage.

Review: Anyone who has always harbored a fear of the dentist will certainly cringe at the goings on in this over the top, but effective, horror thriller. Corbin Bernsen sinks his teeth (no pun intended?) into the role of Dr. Alan Feinstone, a dentist who seemingly has it all, including a beautiful wife messing around with the hunky poolboy; an IRS man on his tail; and a history of some kind of mental distress. Once he discovers his wife's cheating (on their anniversary, no less), Feinstone goes off his bean, and takes revenge not only on his wife, but on anyone who happens to cross his path, including his staff.
Brian Yuzna directs with a keen eye on the gore, punctuating it with the sound of drills and teeth crashing, etc., etc. Bernsen is perfect for the role, and so good it spawned a sequel which I've yet to see. Notice talented actor Mark Ruffalo (You Can Count on Me) as the studly advertising man paired with the delightfully inane April Reign.
Although a low budget film, it carries itself with dignity and a fine sense of tongue in cheek. It is bloody and disturbing, so be warned. And get out the Ipana now!!!

Summary: This movie will make you squirm in your seat
Review: At first I was reluctant to see this movie. Now I see why I was so reluctant. This movie has scenes that will make you squirm in your seat. It turned out to be a pretty good horror flick.
After seeing this movie I might think twice next time I go to the dentist for dental work. It makes me wonder. If my dental hygienist is having a bad day, am I going to end up like Dr. Fienstone's patients???

Summary: IT'S TIME FOR YOUR CHECK UP!!!!!
Review: Corbin Bernsen stars as a wealthy dentist who begins losing his mind after catching his beautiful wife cheating on him with the swimming pool cleaner. He knows that if he divorces her, she'll take half of everything he has. His intense fear of losing it all causes him to lose his own mind. So, he begins taking out his frustrations on his unsuspecting patients. The result is a chilling bloodbath that'll make you think twice before going back to the dentist. This movie is definetly not for the easily offended. The scene in which Bernsen rapes a female patient is in bad taste. But gorehounds will not be disappointed! This movie would've been even better if the conclusion hadn't of fallen short. This movie is still cool though. If you got the 'nerves' to watch this, then get it. You'll like it.

Summary: Corbin Bernsen's campy romp as a psychotic killer dentist
Review: I first stumbled across this 1996 film on late night cable while on a debate trip and was able to get much mileage out of making the sound of a dentist's drill and making students cringe (always a worthy goal). Stephen King once made a sort of fundamental distinction between terror, horror and the gross out. "The Dentist" is a textbook example of the gross out that is so over the top that you just have to laugh (assuming you have not already ejected the tape). The story is about Dr. Allan Feinstone (Corbin Bersen) who has everything from the big house and the beautiful wife to a great job as the friendly upper class neighborhood dentist. But then he discovers his wife is having an affair with their pool boy and he goes right off the deep end. In some sort of perverse Pavlovian twist, after taking care of the offending couple every time he encounter any of the normal dental problems of his patients, such as tooth decay or plaque, he decides to teach them a final lesson on dental hygiene. Meanwhile, Dr. Feinstone is being stalked by an even greater evil: the I.R.S. The idea that your dentist is fiend from hell is not exactly new. If you did not already know this from personal experience then you have such classical examples as "The Little Shop of Horrors" and the pilot for "Alias." Then there is "Marathon Man," where Laurence Olivier confirmed our worst fears: to wit, your dentist is a Nazi. However, "The Dentist" is in a class by itself as a tongue in cheek splatter flick. The people who put this movie together know that as soon as that dentist drill starts whizzing they have 99% of their audience cringing and they just pour it on. I think this film is clearly intended to be more camp than legitimate horror. This film won the Jury Grand Prize at the 1996 Sweden Fantastic Film Festival. Mull that one over for a while. This is not everybody's cup of tea and you cannot say now that you were not warned.
