Summary: CREEPY!
Review: Sorry, I just do not like to think that a house is alive.
I figure, if it's alive, it needs to clean itself and save me the trouble! OK, I'm dreaming here right, but this movie gave me the creeps! I watched it with a group who could not keep their
eyes off the screen, but I found myself actually getting mad at
the people in the movie. I hate when that happens.
I suppose for horror fans this one is good, as for me, I like
my house without a life of its own and when I want to leave, it
had better let me open that door!

Summary: Mini Series On DVD
Review: This is an excellent Mini Series to see on DVD. It is one of Stephen Kings best Series ever written. Even though at times it doesn't show any killings. Which [is bad],,,,, But it is still a good plot and all.

I dont own it but it is a good one to own.

Summary: Rose Red
Review: For a start, this movie is very long, more than 4 hours. It is definitely not Stephen King's best movie. It's the same old story
and I've got enough of them.As a horror movie fan - it's a shame when you go to video stores and the whole shelf is filled up
with movies with the same story. It's either Friday 13-th's or Haunted houses movies.Shame really because Imagination knows no limits. And for the end I really miss "Twilight Zone"serials.
That's what horror movies should be like.

Summary: That Was Then...This Is Now
Review: When Rose Red first found its way on T.V. as a six hour mini series for ABC, in 2002, I have to say I was initially underwhelmed. When author Stephen King does a mini series, I usually came away with being solidly entertained, this time it was different. I thought it could have been better...

Dr. Joyce Reardon, (Nancy Travis) is an expert in the field of the paranormal, who has obsessed over the Seattle legend of the Rose Red mansion and the wealthy family who built it, for years. The house has been at the center of many disappearances and deaths over the decades. Now dormant, she enlists the help of a group of psychics-and a 15 year old autistic girl named Annie (Kimberly J. Brown)-to go inside the mysterious mansion, with the hope of "waking" it up and learning its secrets. Joyce also asks a descendant (Matthew Keeslar) of the original owners (who is also her lover) to join them.

Writer Stephen King and director Craig R. Baxley have produced a prequel of sorts that goes into more detail about the history of the Rimbauer family and Rose Red. With that in mind, I decided to give the mini series another crack, and because my favorite aspect of it in the first place, was the "history" stuff King came up with. I thought with the prequel airing soon--I should refresh myself. I must admit, upon my second viewing and without those pesky commercials, I enjoyed the film a bit more. I remember thinking the special effects overtook the story. I didn't see it the same way this time. The acting was pretty solid as well. The best work came from Brown, who doesn't say much, and yet still manages to shine Keeslar, Julian Sands, and Judith Ivey make it work as well. For her part, Travis is OK, but I still had trouble with how she played it at the end. And yes the "history" flashbacks were still the best part-very well done Not as good as King's Storm Of The Century, but not as bad as I first thought, Rose Red has enough to keep you watching

The 2 disc set, has the three part story spread over both DVDs, with part 3 on the second disc. The "production" commentary has a handfull of behind the camera paricipants, all edited together, for a fairly interesting track The best extra though is the 50 minute making of documentary, well made, and it gives the actors and King a chance to opine about Rose Red. The 22 minute "mock-u-mentary" tries to take a cue from The Blair Witch, and assumes the legend of Rose Red is real-with mixed results. This extra aired as a special, before the first part came on, and spoils some plot details. It can be fun, if you watch it after you've seen the film though. Production artwork, storyboards, and the television trailer tops it all off. As a bonus, trailers for some other films are present on disc 2

I am glad I decided to pay a second visit to the mansion. Fans of King's should be as well. Not quite the "ultimate haunted house" story, Rose Red still gets my vote with three and a half stars

Summary: Awsome veiwing
Review: This is a great Movie. It can be a little hard to sit thru with it being so long (4hrs) but well worth it! It is the sort of movie you have to concentrate on or you'll loose the plot.So if you are in the mood for a great scary movie this is a must see.
Enjoy!

Summary: What happened?
Review: This was one of the WORST made-for-tv movies I have ever seen. The scripting is fragmented, inconsistent and nonsensical. The acting, with just a few exceptions, was awful. Nancy Travis's career may have been Rose Red's last victim. I found myself wondering what happened during filming that forced them to piece together seemingly-unrelated (in terms of style AND content) chunks of raw footage into what I can only describe as a schizophrenic BORE! I advise you to rewatch one of King's other, very-worthy, productions and leave this one for dead.

Summary: The great deja vu experience
Review: Yes, I've seen all this before. The huge nasty old house, which hasn't been lived in for countless years but is still spotlessly clean with fresh beds, the madman (or madwoman in that case) builder, the whacko psychics, the professor keen on proving the supernatural ... I wonder if the spirits of Richard Matheson, Bentley Little, Shirley Jackson a.s.o did haunt Mr. King for copying so much from their work. The psychics except Annie don't do anything psychic at all, they just walk in, scream and flutter around like chickens with their heads hacked off. The dialogue is horrible, the acting bad, the characters chliché, and half the story gets lost in between (what happened to Prof. Miller? why did no one care about Pams disappearance?)
a.s.0.) Then, when the film runs out of ideas, the big meteorite hail knocks everything to pieces, the light goes on, the film ends, and I woke up from dozing with a start. Yawn.
Two stars for atmosphere und photography.

Summary: really good movie!
Review: I love this movie. I've watched at least a dozen times (pretty major considering it's length). I think it's great that it was done as a miniseries. You get more of the story. I don't think they could have pulled it off in a normal movie time frame. Rose Red is a great scary, atmospheric movie. If you like movies like The Changeling, Woman in Black, and The Legend of Hell House; I think you'll love this one too.
