Summary: PICKS UP WHERE NIGHTMARE LEFT OFF
Review: FOR A SEQUEL IT'S OKAY. FREDDY IS BACK, SLASHING IN YOUR DREAMS, SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE WELL-DONE. FREDDY'S HUMOR IS STILL INTACT. STILL SCARY BUT AFTER A WHILE YOU WONDERED WHY THEY BOTHERED.

Summary: Nightmare 2...Good or Bad?
Review: My subject asks the questions, good or bad? Well, Nightmare on Elm Street 2 has been labeled, by many people, the worst of the Nightmare series. I agree. All the other sequels were more entertaining, but there are some good points to Nightmare 2. The plot was a great idea. With Freddy trying to possess a new resident in Nancy Thompson's (from Nightmare 1). The longer the dude resides at the house, the more he notices what is happening. The plot was an awesome idea, but the directing is what made it such a let-down. I would say the acting, but the acting was real good (besides the guy's father). Back to the directing. Things just seemed to move a bit fast at times, and at other times, a bit slow. The ending wasn't all that great, and the final show-down between the female character and Freddy turned out to be, to me, a resemblance of a twisted soap opera episode. But if you're like me, you've bought this one to complete your Nightmare on Elm Street collection. Although it is possible you can just skip this one and go on to the awesome Nightmare on Elm Street 3 without missing any major plot details.

Summary: The ugly child of the series
Review: People love to cite this movie as the worst of the series. And honestly it does lack the terror of the first one, but unlike the next few sequels it doesn't simply rehash the first movie. This is probably why people hate it. It tried to take the Freddy Krueger character into a completely different direction. People didn't like the new direction and later directors simply stuck to the formula and tried to forget that this one ever existed.

A teenager is being troubled by those dreams again, only this time instead of actually being harmed, he is slowly being possessed. As the struggle of wills between Freddy and the real world progresses you see that he is losing and that Freddy will once again be real.

There's also a Beauty & the Beast type love story happening too. This movie is a little silly, but it should be commended for actually trying to make something original out of a concept that was done right the first time. Later movies would only vary the Freddy-kills-people-in-dreams formula without the sense of mystery from the first movie. This movie actually builds some suspense and does something besides Robert Englund one-liners.

Summary: The Nightmare continues
Review: In my opinion, "A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 - Freddy's Revenge" was a pretty good sequel. In this sequel, Freddy Krueger terrorizes a teen named Jesse by taking over his body and making Jesse think that he is the one that is murdering people. It's up to Jesse and his girlfriend, Lisa, to try and solve the mystery of Freddy Krueger in order to find a way to fight him off.

"A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 - Freddy's Revenge" isn't as groundbreaking as the first movie in the series, but it's still a good movie in its own right. Parts of it are scary and suspenseful, the storyline goes along at a steady pace, the special effects are decent, and it has good acting by Jesse and Lisa. If you liked the original movie in the series, I would recommend seeing this movie.

Summary: The least effective sequel in the series
Review: I do not know what the people at New Line were thinking when they gave the green light for this movie to be made, but it is pointless. I think they realized that when the third installment came out because there is no mention of this one even existing. Anyway, the horrid plot, if you want to call it that, is Freddy returns to the kids on elm street, via the main character's body, played by Mark Patton. Thankfully, everything gets back on track with Elm Street 3, and believe me you do not need to see this one to watch the third one. GRADE: D-

Summary: When you make a sequel, please watch the original first...
Review: Quite possibly the worst sequel of all time. The first movie is not AFI Top 100 Material but at least it had more style and intelligence than 99% of the other horror flicks being made. There was a LOGIC to the story: there were rules for Freddy, who had to be beaten within the context of those rules. The original film is one of the top 3 slasher flicks of all time (and it certainly holds up better than "Halloween" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre").

Well, boys and girls, forget about those rules in this sequel. You have to wonder if the people who made this looked at anything from the first film besides the trailer and the grosses. My educated guess would be: GEE, NO, THEY DID NOT. Rarely have I been so disappointed in viewing a film.

Artistic integrity is as important with slasher flicks as any other genre. The simple elegance of "Halloween" was replaced by the graphic gross-outs of "Halloween II" and you simply can not have high expectations for the "prequel" of "The Blair Witch Project." In retrospect, it is pretty amazing this sequel did not kill the franchise that ended up developing.

My advice: Watch the first one again and skip to the third one. You will not be missing anything. Wes Craven really is much more than the one-eyed king in the land of the blind. No wonder he exercised much more control over the rest of the series.

Summary: A Cool Nightmare Movie
Review: I Thought A Nightmare on elm street part 2 was a realy cool movie in it`s own way. I thought some of the stuff in the movie was kind of stupid but of course it`s a slasher film. But probly the best part of the movie is the Party scean when Freddy comes to the real word and kill`s like 15 people in one scean which I thought was realy cool.

Summary: What the hell was this
Review: I am giving this movie 3 stars because of Robert Englunds excellent performance but the plot and story was dull. The first nightmare was highly succesfull but, why the hell did they call this nightmare on elm street there were barely any dreams. Overall good acting and special effects but the story needed to be more well developed. I reccomend the original nightmare on elm street as it is the scariest.

Summary: 'freddy's revenge' not exactly that
Review: nightmare on elm street part 2: freddy's revenge...what wentwrong with this one? well first off, the title is somewhat misleading because it would tend to have someone think freddy takes revenge on who beat him last time, which isn't the case. the whole concept of freddy re-entering the real world through someone else's body is pretty awful. not only does that break the rules that wes craven set with the first one, but it's just totally unbelievable. the first one had some small sense of believability to it with the concept of dreams and all, but this one simply does not follow in those same guidelines at all. and homosexuality seemed to be the theme for nightmare 2. the main character, jesse seemed to have a feminine side to him as well as his friend grady. and nightmare 2 just took the scary side away from freddy. towel slapping a gym teacher to death in the shower? i mean, c'mon...what's supposed to be scary about that? besides the horrible concept of freddy re-entering reality through a host body, the other reason this film failed was the fact that, other than freddy himself (and the house of course) there was absolutely NO CONTINUITY from the original. no returning characters or anything. i can tell the writers were trying to break new ground with this one but they simply went about doing it the wrong way. the reason i gave it 2 stars instead of one is robert englund. he is always a good sport about nightmare movies, and you can't exactly blame him for the horrible script. bottom line is this: "nightmare on elm street 2: freddy's revenge" doesn't really fit in with the rest of the series due to continuity (or lack thereof). it really is more on its own than part of a series. there were just too many mistakes here and i wouldn't recommend buying it unless you feel you absolutely must have the whole series. if you want to see the sequel to nightmare 1, then go get nightmare 3 (dream warriors). that's more a sequel to nightmare 1 than part 2 is.

Summary: The worst Nightmare
Review: By far the worst of the Nightmare sequels. Elm Street 2 definitely falls into the myth that sequels are never as good as the original. While an argument might be made for Elm Street 3 breaking this trend, there is no excuse for old # 2. This movie virtually ignores the plot of the first movie and has Freddy hopping in and out of bodies like he was starring in the Matrix. The decent treatment given to the DVD edition is more than this movie deserves.
