Rating: Summary: A Copy is a Copy is a Copy Review: This film is in good company with "A Star is Born" and "Mame" - in as much as the remakes do not improve on the original. I think we all know by now that the blood used in the shower scene in the original was really Hershey's chocolate syrup. And that is the difference between suspense and gore.I knew this was a cheesy remake as soon as I saw the stolen money. This was supposed to be $400,000, yet it only showed Ms. Crane with two stacks of 50 $100 bills ($10,000 last time I checked.) Perhaps her boss was committing insurance fraud by telling everyone it was the larger amount. If a film can be improved upon my remaking it, then I say go for it. If the only purpose is to provide an updated color version, then forget it. Who want to see a paint-by-number version of the Mona Lisa anyway?
Rating: Summary: Don't Bother Review: Hitchcock is rolling around in his grave. Definitely. Because Gus Van Sant has taken Hitch's PSYCHO (an absolute masterpiece) and turned it into this pile of dung. William H. Macy couldn't even save this film. Vince Vaughn wears flashy shirts and giggles like a little schoolgirl, while Anne Heche seems much less innocent than Janet Leigh in the original (and I didn't care to see her rear either). Pointless.
Rating: Summary: No where near as good as the original Review: Why would anyone in there right mind want to remake one of the greatest films ever made . Why not remake some god awful film that does need improving . William H. Macy is perhaps the only good thing to step out of this pile of rubbish . Its a shot by shot remake so why settle for this when you could rent or buy the original .
Rating: Summary: The original had style, class, finess... Review: and the list goes on and on. I'm so ashamed that I spent two dollars to rent this movie. This remake was so bad, I almost wept. If you thought this was a great movie, you must not have seen the original. It isn't the fact that it's in color, it's just terrible. Hitchcock would be ashamed, I bet. And Vince Vaughan played Norman Bates like a hillbilly pervert. When Hitchcock only SUGGESTED that Norman would masturbate, van Sant actually had the gall to SHOW it. This movie was a real bummer.
Rating: Summary: Another useless remake Review: In the original Pycho, there was suspense, intrigue, and shock. In Gus Van Sant's remake of the excellent original, he merely mimicked camera angles, dialogue, and positioning. Yet, he missed the fealing of the film by a longshot. Vince Vaughn (Normand) was horribly disguised as an old woman. It was obvious that he was "mother" by his quick, agile movements. The only fun part about watching this movie is comparing it to the original, which is a BIG laugh! However, the actors/actresses are minorly interesting to watch. With the exception of Viggo Mortenson. He does an awful job of pulling off his character
Rating: Summary: piece of crap!!!!!!! Review: This movie was suppose to be the remake of one of the greatest movies ever.It turned out to the biggest pileof horse **** ever!!!!!!! If you would like to be scared get the first oneand the book
Rating: Summary: No showers. Review: I saw the orginial Psycho and I believe that this one is good, too.Vince Vaugh is great as Norman almost as good as Anthony Perkins. Anne Heche is also very good she adds her talents and makes the movie. If you have seen the orginial you should really see this one. The upgrade to the 1990's is also very good. I wish I could trade my car and only add $700 as the orginial Marion did. This movie can stand on it's own, you cannot compare the two and be satisified. You have to watch each one separate.IT"S WORTH THE LOOK!!!!
Rating: Summary: pretty good video Review: I wouldn't say it's the scariest video but it was pretty scary.I't was weird that when norman stabbed the private investigator a couple times in the face that the knife skipped it's eye.I would rent it again. It was pretty good.
Rating: Summary: Huh? Review: I haven't seen the old version, so I can't comment on that part. The problem that I have is that the ending goes way too fast, and it left me with a feeling of "that's it?" Basically, I don't like incompleteness. The P.I. did the best acting job out of the whole cast. It's too bad he had to die fairly early on. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but it was annoying at times.
Rating: Summary: You'd have to be 'psycho' to pick this over the original. Review: There is NO--I repeat--NO reason to remake a movie that has earned its place as one of the best films in American cinema history. Some people say to give a chance, but it's really about principle. When will they learn that creativity is more important than greedily copying what somebody else has done, all for the sake of money? Curiosity alone isn't worth the money of this DVD.
