Rating: Summary: Book? What Book? Review: There is no "Book of Shadows" to be found in this fast and cheap mistake. While the first film was highly overrated, this one received far more attention than it deserved. The result are incomplete ideas and a misleading title. Pray this mediocre effort kills the series. And if you have enough time to rewind through this mess to find the "hidden" stuff mentioned in the mockumentary "Esrever," then you need to go outside and find some friends.
Rating: Summary: A great continuation of the Blair Witch mythology Review: This movie was a truly fascinating sequal, made to be a "reenactment of actual events" which followed the release of the first movie. Shot as an typical movie, with the handheld camera footage integrated in, the movie presents an interesting contrast with the original. Where the first movie focuses on events that happened to the characters, this one focused more on what the characters themselves did, and spotlighted what is, in my opinion, the Blair Witch's greatest power; the ability to control and manipulate others. This was hinted at in the first movie with the Rustin Parr murders, and shown in greater detail in the comic book (the Robin Weaver story). I was also impressed by the presentation of this story as a factual event, a plot device began in the first movie and carried out beautifully in everything else that's followed. If you're a fan of the Blair Witch mythology, this movie will provide some answers, some more questions, and be very entertaining. If not, you still might enjoy it, but it probably won't be nearly as engrossing.
Rating: Summary: Was there a need....? Review: Ok first off I loved the first film "The Blair Witch Project"It wasent the scariest movie of all time but its up there."The Book of Shadows"is probably the worst sequal ever thought up.The story line was weak, the actors wern't all great, and the ending was pretty dissapointing. This was just your average horror movie with out the stupid serial killer.I think the creators TRIED to keep it to the original some what but they dident do a great job at it.Mentioning Koffin Rock, keeping the casts real names, talking about the first movie, and having SOME scenes with a video camera was the only thing that reminded you that you were watching something related to the Blair Witch. Most of the movie they werent even in the woods! They were all just hanging around some guys' "house".There is one thing I liked about this movie, the very begining, the little thing at the end of the movie, and the flashing scenes and how it came together in the end.Even though it wasent that impressive. The movie it self wasent scary, just weird. They should have never made a sequal. They dident need too."The Blair Witch Project" was a new classic.I remember people questioning if it was real, going to the movies and being more scared before the movie even started. But this is like a laugh in your face pure bred Hollywood peice of nothing. This movie almost ruined my love for "The Blair Witch Project" I dident know there were stupid enough people out there who could have thought of something this bad up.I recommend NOT seeing this movie if you are a Blair Witch fan.If you are craving for more Blair Witch fun buy "The Curse Of The Blair Witch"it was a documentry for the Sci-Fi channel but it makes everyone belive the Blair Witch could exist, unlike this so called Blair Witch 2.
Rating: Summary: Where's The "Connection"? Review: I'll be short and sweet about this movie.1. It had nothing to do with the first movie. 2. The acting was shall we say (poor). 3. The film quality was terrible! I know Blair Witch 3 will be better! Let's hope they take it back to the original story line.
Rating: Summary: Mediocre-but not horrible! Review: This movies okay for watching-but nothing memorable. The sound track is poor-but maybe that's just an age thing--I just know I didn't enjoy the "music". A gimmicky special at the end supposedly giving secret clues-no big deal. I lived in Montgomery County Maryland for three years and never experienced anything supernatural and I never saw a Sheriff anything like the refugee from Podunk New Mexico or where ever, that this movie portrays. Still, this is a movie that's enjoyable to watch--once! I may be in the minority, but I actually liked it better than the first Blair Witch.
Rating: Summary: Possibly The Worst Movie Sequel Of All Time! Review: I dont even know where to begin! First off, I am shocked that there are actually good reviews for this movie... these people must be related to the makers or actors of the film! This Film was By Far One Of The Worst Films I have EVER Seen! This will go down in Film History as one of the worst sequels of all time, This film makes Exorcist II look like Casablanca! Even though the acting was bad, these poor actors didnt really stand a chance with such a poor script. This movie made no sense and went nowhere! This film hardly had anything to do with the first film with the exception of some dead ghostly children running around! It looked to me like the director finished shooting half the film and just didnt know where to turn so he just threw anything up there hoping that it would stick! It stuck allright, to the pit of my stomach! If you are a fan of the First Blair Witch and are tempted to see this, Trust me, DONT! Keep your fond memories of the first film because that was a classic and so well done! I was actually angry after watching this mess. I was mad because this was a Missed Opportunity! What A Shame.... DING DONG, THIS WITCH IS DEAD!
Rating: Summary: Strange, Visually Stunning Review: "Blair Witch II: Book of Shadows" is a stylish clever horror flick, unjustly dissed. The film opens on a high note, mocking the commercialization of the first film, and its more obsessed devotees. I thought that it was a very daring, clever move especially since we, the devotees of the first film, added to its great profit and success. Like many other recent flicks, this one leaves it upon you, the viewer to try to make sense of the events you are shown. And what bizarre things we do see-an owl crashes through the exfactory window, Trista turns around on her bed, the camera records events that none can remember... The characters in this film are all interesting, but not easy to understand. I especially liked the gothic type girl. Ultimately this fast paced film will leave you with more questions than answers, as you ponder the following: 1. The gothic/psychic girl has a momentary vision of Jeffrey in an electric chair-is he the reincarnation of the serial killer in the first film? 2. Is the Blair Witch even involved in the events that transpire? 3. Has Mass Hysteria indeed grasped the group? 4. Why does the group have no memory of those five hours? Pay Very close attention to the drunken scenes early in the film, and the possible hypothesis's served up. I think the key to drawing your own conclusions to this film lies there, if anywhere. Sure the film is gory, but luckily most of it is kind of dreamlike rather than in your face gore. I would highly recommend this film if you can appreciate a film for the artistic visual impact alone, and if your ok with drawing your own answers. A winner on all counts.
Rating: Summary: Gives a new meaning to term "bad movie" Review: I heard all the reviews and though "How bad could this movie really be?" BW was such a success and BW2 was really something I looked forward to seeing. Well let me tell you - BW2 is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Talk about misguided!!! This is clear proof that some movies do not warrant a sequel. The acting in this movie is horrible and the writing is straight out of junior high. If you must watch this film, please know that is has little to do with it's predecessor. In fact, little mention is even given to the first film. Can I give negative stars? If only I could!
Rating: Summary: One great movie, one great DVD! BW2 Book of Shadows ROX! Review: What can I say, this sequel of the cult hit, ROX! I saw the movie in theaters the day after it came out and I was amazed! When I read what the DVD content was (a DVD+CD combination, plus optional commentary with the director and the music composer, The Secret of Esrever documentary featuring hidden images.) I was shocked. I have seen the documentary and it's shocking! I saw the 'doc' on the video version, which has a preview for the DVD version and it said there were some songs from the soundtrack (I REVIEWED THAT ONE ALSO) and the entire music score. Don't hesitate buy this DVD! I know I will! WHAT IS THE BOOK OF SHADOWS?!. I have to warn you this movie is nothing like its predecessor, (THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT), the plot line to this one is more complicated, some will say this is stupid, don't take THEIR word take MINE, see it!
Rating: Summary: A Scary DVD Classic Review: I really enjoyed this movie even though most people did not. Its very eerie and is a totally different type of scary than the original. Its about five people who are obsessed with The Blair Witch Project movie who decide to spend the night in the woods where the movie and legends took place. They also decide to film what they see and plan to stay up all night, but they mysteriously fall asleep and their footage is missing the next morning. When they finally find the film, they realize they weren't asleep all night and they weren't alone. This was alot scarier to me than the original which is a horror movie classic. Instead of hearing mysterious noises and finding sticks on the ground however, these characters are seeing things - not knowing if what they are seeing is real or if they are going crazy. Strange markings appear on their bodies, they see dead children haunting the neighborhood and the Blair Witch turns the five characters against eachother making them look guilty of things that none of them actually did. If you like eerie, creepy, scary movies that leave you creeped out long after you've seen them, this is the perfect movie for you and a perfect sequel to a classic horror movie.
