Summary: Another Favourable Review, But the ending what up with that?
Review: Ok I was really expecting this movie to be bad, I enjoyed the Blair Witch and because of this I wanted to see the film which "Influenced" the making of TBWP. Apart from the Footage and the whole woods thing (which there isnt a great deal of in Broadcast) I found this movie more like The Curse of the Blair Witch. I enjoyed this movie, it gave out a somewhat eerie vibe, and although the acting wasnt great, the format looked like the cheesy "In Search of..." type doco's. The only problem and the reasons for the 2 stars is *shock horror* the ending, something I didnt get at all, and have spent hours debating with friends over (I wont elabarate). Being in Australia, and not having the Hollywood Video chain, I on a crazed Amazon.com shopping spree I add this want to see film to my cart, and I did actually think it was well worth it, in saying that I wouldnt recommend it either, if you wanna see it try and try to rent it first. Over all I think TBWP and TLB both stand up as their own, and well made films in there own right, I would have to say TBWP is a far better film, was it the $50,000(well depends what sorce you read) compared to $900 maybe, Was it the Blair Witch took you on a more hightened emontional level, Yes I think so, was it the fact that the Blair Witch didnt try and tie all the ends? Yes. Some will agree with me, some wont, the only thing I can say is check it out, see what you think, Its up to you.

Summary: Good, but the ending sank it.
Review: This movie turned out to be nothing like what I expected. The directors do an excellent job of capturing the feel of a PBS-style documentary, and the atmosphere is suitably creepy. The ending, however, really put me off. The first hour and a quarter is in documentary format, then it switches to third person, and what is revealed by this removes all sense from the movie. If that is indeed the case, then why would the documentary have even been made, and why analyze the lost tapes? Mind you, I don't mind being suckered by the directors, but this was too cheesy.

Summary: A lot better than BWP
Review: I liked The Blair Witch Project but I found this film a masterpeice. It was very well thought out. The man making the documentary was totally beliveable. I was watching it with some freinds and they thought it was for real. Now a word or two about the ending it needed work, it was kind of silly espically when you are supposed to be watching a movie your supposed to beleive is true. Even so I thuoght it was great.

Summary: worst ending in history...
Review: I really wanted to love this movie, and for almost the entire length, I did. I have to admit, it was very intriguing, and had me on the edge of my seat.. until the last 5 or so minutes. Do yourself a favor and stop this movie before the ending. It's how I'm going to watch this one in the future. What a completely horrid way to end the film. To the directors, all I can say is that they had a good thing going, and then blew it. As for the comparisons to Blair, there are a lot of differences. Judge for yourself.

Summary: Shameful filmmaking
Review: From start to finish, this is a ham-fisted and amateur production. Not that low budget films can't be forgiven their technical shortcomings... "Stranger than Paradise" and "Clerks" come to mind... At least they had sincerity and heart.

But the problem here is that "TLB" plays out like a juvenile demo reel put together to land a job as a line producer for "Sightings".

Avalos and Weiler have nothing to say and, as storytellers, lack the ability to mutter more than the simplest pop culture fart-belch.

Uninspiring premise (the whole "discovered footage" idea was old before TLB *or* BWP), boobish dialogue, uninventive camera work, and smugly pretentious faux-avant garde attitude make this clunker a sure-fire loser. I'd rather get a root canal than sit through this stinker again.

Summary: An excellent film that got forgotten in the BWP shuffle
Review: For any amount of money, $900 or no, the Last Broadcast is an impressive feature, and the DVD is PACKED with extras that big studios don't typically include (besides the commentary, there's trailers, "making of" featurettes" and a featurette on the Jersey Devil).

The film itself bares passing resemblence to the Blair Witch Project, which it actually predated by almost a year. But unlike it's more successful descendant, the Last Broadcast not only scares but it has something to say about the media and the effects it has on reality -- not just news and TV, but the very existence of consumer video devices. Much of the film (particularly the climax) is particularly chilling in light of Klebold and Harris and THEIR use of a video camera to document themselves. The use of tying the internet and IRC (internet relay chat) into the narrative is particularly chilling as it forms the catalyst for the events of the film.

The film was assembled on a PC using Adobe Premiere (and Photoshop for certain gore effects), and looks incredible. There's a sequence that looks like it was shot on 16 mm film, but was in truth shot on Hi8 and then doctored in Premiere to look like film. And to be honest, it fooled me.

Not only is this a good film, but the DVD gives excellent insights into the filmmaking process, and how with the advent of technology, it's quite easy for talented individuals to do it themselves.

On a final note, I think the wrong movie got the attention last summer. The Blair Witch Project amounted to nothing more than a "fictional" snuff film with nothing to say. The Last Broadcast is a real horror film with postmodern commentary that's actually relavent and engaging. Not only does it resolve itself (and give us glimpses of what we're so afraid of), but it also comments on itself.

Summary: Alittle slow, but overall good story
Review: The Last Broadcast is a little shoddy in it's presentation, but it did scare me and it was a good story. The plot development was pretty slow, and I could definetly see people turning this movie off halfway through..... but don't. The story does get quite interesting towards the end. Being from New Jersey, I have camped out in the Pine Barrens and it is a pretty spooky place. It was a perfect setting for a movie of this kind. I'd give it 3 1/2 stars overall

Summary: almost a good movie
Review: When the film first started up, I was quite impressed. I had always wished The Blair Witch Project had followed the format taken by The Last Broadcast, a documentary which extensively utilizes the footage shot by the three filmmakers (i.e., The Curse of the Blair Witch with the important footage of The Blair Witch Project cut into it). Unfortunately, The Last Broadcast did not deliver. I agree with those who say that the lack of explanation about the Jersey Devil is a bad idea. There were, however, quite a few places in the film where I was rather creeped out, plus a few spots in which they claimed important footage would be shown had me on my the edge of my seat.

The biggest problem with the movie is that it suddenly decided to turn pretentious within the last few minutes. It wasn't enough the filmmakers make an entertaining film, rather they felt they needed a message, so they shoehorned in a statement on the news media. Of course, that isn't the worst of it. The ending twist comes from out of nowhere and makes absolutely no sense when taken in context of the rest of the film.

I also listened to the commentary on the DVD and found that the filmmakers had a very self-important attitude that made me like the movie even less. People who say this movie is better than The Blair Witch Project are probably just too eager to embrace obscure arty films, no matter the quality.

Summary: Creative..
Review: First of all..let's get one thing straight: This movie came out BEFOORE the trashy Blari Witch Project. In fact, I think they are suing BWP for ripping it off. The movie was cool, creative, and ACTUALLY LOOKED LIKE A DOCUMENTARY. The only problem it has was that it was too short. It had a nice edgy feel to it. It got good reviews from the critics, but lacked the advertising hype that BWP had. And I've read this film was made with only 900 bucks! So very nic job guys!

Summary: Don't waste your time on this garbage
Review: I waited for months for this movie to be released on video... what a disappointment! How people can say this is better than Blair Witch is beyond me. This movie was horrible in every aspect, from storyline to the ending. The poor acting almost made it unbearable to watch. As where Blair Witch seemed to be real, this film was totally see-thru. One of the worst films I have ever seen, don't waste your time or money on this junk.
