Summary: Based on a good novel ("Legion"), this film is a mess...
Review: Based on Blatty's fine novel "Legion", this film starts off well and quickly disintegrates before one's eyes.
First: George C. Scott is simply not in the same league as Lee J. Cobb, who played the character of Det. Kindermann so well in the original "Exorcist". Not even close.
Second: Any film which has to rely on literally dozens of pages of expository dialogue to make some sense is doomed from the start. Kindermann and the Gemini simply talk too much, where's the action, ANY action? Someone DO something !! BORING !!!
Third: terrible ending, simply awful. One of THOSE endings, and I won't elaborate. Suffice it to say that not only will you be disappointed, you will want to sail the DVD, frisbee-like, out your window.
Fourth and most shocking: William Peter Blatty DIRECTED this mess!!! HUH ??? WHAT WAS HE THINKING ???
To the buyer/renter beware. Do yourself a favor and read the novel, which is a true metaphysical treatise.

Summary: Redeems the series
Review: This effective thriller was directed by novelilst William Peter Blatty, who adapted his book. What an imagination! Some of the most unsettling moments in screen history are in this movie. I'm not talking about gore; I'm talking about strange, dark moments of dread and flashes of terror. It's a police investigation with demonic overtones, and the tone might remind you of 'The X-files.' This is one of only a handful of thrillers that have made me turn on the lights while I watched them.

Summary: Boring, lacks momentum
Review: Quite disappointed about this sequel. The story and the screenplay both have some ambition, but the whole film lacks momentum. Too many scenes took in the jail chamber, too many "philosophical" dialogues. It's a pity to waste the mysterious feeling of the hopistal.

Summary: Uh, It Was..... Wierd.
Review: OK Just for a warning. I just finished watching this movie, so maybe my opinion isn't the best. I usually watch a movie and don't like it, but then when I watch it again I like it. However, I don't want to watch this one again. I found it quite boring and it unfortunately departed from the story set by The Exorcist and Exorcist 2 The Heretic. To be perfectly honest, I LOVED the 2nd film, and I think this one should have followed where that one ended. But, William Peter Blatty's The Exorcist 3 goes in a completely different direction. Not like Halloween 3 Season Of The Witch (which I loved), but it doesn't have Kitty Winn, or Linda Blair, and that's unfortunate.

The film begins confusing enough (only to get more confusing in the end) with some weird "Dream Sequence" and then goes on so that we can meat Lt. William Kinderman (George C Scott), the officer who knew Father Karras (Jason Miller). It is now the 15th anniversary of Karras' death, as he fell out a window while exorcising little Reagan. Kinderman begins to investigate a handfull of deaths that are in the exact same way "The Gemini Killer" murdered his victoms. Meanwhile, there's a paitient in room 11 who looks just like Karras, and claims to be The Gemini Killer. The movie then starts to fade as "The Gemini Killer" starts babbling about rturning from the dead and it all gets very confsing just to lead to a dissapointing conclusion.

...the moment it began, I got bored and went to take a nap (a 3 hour one) and the next day I watched THE WHOLE THING. Despite my hearts protests to turn the movie off and ditch it. Well, after watching it, I thought "Wow. The biggest waste of time movie EVER. And I just watched it". Well, I haven't gained anything from watching it as I did watching the firstand second.

If you ACTUALLY DID enjoy William Peter Blatty's The Exorcist 3, I'd recomend the first and second film, as well as the Omen Trilogy.

Summary: The Best Scare Ever!!!!!
Review: This Exorcist definitely stands on its own and contains some of the most horrific scares I have yet to see. For me the all-time most chilling scene comes from this movie, when the sheet clad killer charges up behind the nurse in the hospital corridor. No matter how many times I see this flick I still get goosebumps!!!!

Summary: The Exorcist 3
Review: I think this film is better when not compared to the Exorcist. This movie is along the same lines as that classic. The plot involves Dective Kinderman and Father Dyer 15 years after the origanal. Brutal killings start popping up int the style of a killer that was put to death the night of the first exorcist. Jason Miller returns to the fold as Patient X.The movies is intresting and more in the tone of the first film.

Summary: Not as good as the original
Review: The first Exorcist was a total classic, and any sort of sequel will never live up to the original. This film is pretty good though, seeing as how it features the original director and writer from the first film, and blows the second Exorcist away with ease.

Summary: It ain't The Exorcist I know and love
Review: I will never understand why people insist on making sequels. They are NEVER as good as the first one, and they are usually complete bombs. Well, The Exorcist was disgraced with two sequels; unfortunately neither of them were good. The second Exorcist wasn't as bas as this one, but still. Obviously, the only reason sequels for The Exorcist were made were for money purposes. A sequel to The Exorcist is pointless; the story has been told, now leave it alone. I say the same for the 2000 version of The Exorcist. They (William Peter Blatty & William Friedkin) should have left the film alone - it was perfect! The added scenes ruined the pace and didn't fit in at all. I give The Exorcist 3 two stars: one for having the word Exorcist in the title, and two because William Peter Blatty was involved with it.

Summary: Quite possibly the scariest movie I have ever seen.
Review: If you take this movie seriously, it will scare the hell out of you. This is the kind of movie where you turn off all of the lights, turn it up nice and loud, and do not take your eyes off the screen for one second, not even to drink or munch popcorn. Also, do not talk to others if they are watching with you. This is a great murder mystery with a big supernatural twist. A superb performance by two of my favorite actors, George C. Scott and Brad Dourif, academy award calibur indeed. The original was good for it's day and still is, but this is scarier with less dead time. If you don't pay attention, it will seem like there is more dead time than there actually is. It's a lot a little subtle things and a few big memorible scenes that add up to make this one of the best serious horror movies ever made and deserves far more recognition than it has ever received.

Summary: A TRILOGY ISN'T ALWAYS BAD
Review: When people here the word Exorcist, they think horror. They also think that the first one was good but the rest were horrible not even knowing anything about the rest of the trilogy. Now I know everyone probably agrees that Exorsist 2 was definently one of the worst movies ever made. People think movies get worse as they go on. Yet, Exorcist 3 proves them wrong. This movie touches on religion and lots the worlds problems. This movie is definently a thinker. You must listen and learn. If you haven't seen the first one that dont see this. You need to see the first one to get a clear understanding of the third. For the first time in many years, the last of the trilogy might be the best. This movie will definently top the first one. See it with someone else!!
