Summary: A Classic of Incomparable Crap
Review: If I could, I'd give this movie 10 stars! It provided more screams of hysterical laughter per minute than any other film I can name. The effects are indeed special - so amateurishly lame they deserve special note. You folks who haven't seen this jaw-droppingly bad film are in for a treat as James Earl Jones lights up the screen as a giant locust, buzzing his way into movie infamy. This film has everything, including chinzy, backlot "exotic" locales and natives that the director couldn't seem to place on the globe (are we in India, Africa, East Mudwhump? Who knows!)
Name the category and this movie falls below the minimum requirements for even a mediocre production: no plot, no acting, no direction, and the dumbest dialog you've ever heard.
Once again the movie moguls decided that the masses will swallow anything and they shoveled it our way with the help of has-been actors. Buy it as a joke or rent it - but don't miss this mess!

Summary: A grotesque bomb!
Review: I had the misfortune of actually seeing this bomb when it was released into movie theatres in 1977. I still recall endless streams of people exiting, muttering, "what garbage!" and complaining about how chillingly dismal this film is. Now, re-watching it after 25 years, I can affirm positively: this is one of the worst films ever made.

Linda Blair is a blowsy, boring, catatonic actress. Her scenes are beyond wretched. But the absolute clincher of bad is Richard Burton, delivering an incoherent performance in which this notorious over-actor overacts to the point of hilarity. There are several scenes which call for him to use subtlety in dealing with the fragile Blaire. Well, subtlety and Burton simply do not mesh on the acting screen and he screams lines which should be phrased delicately and demurely. You will laugh out loud at how pathetic a display Burton puts on. His scenes with Blair and Fletcher will cause you either to wince or double over with laughter.

If you are one of those types who revels in large budget monstrosities, this is your baby!

Summary: Bad Movie Heaven (or should that be Hell?)
Review: If you revel in watching big-budget bombs like me, then this movie is for you!

To this day, it regularly places in the Top 5 worst movies of all times, even after Ishtar, Heaven's Gate and Madonna's last movie!

Immortal dialogue, grade-school level special effects, a plot beyond comprehension - and Linda Blair and Richard Burton competing for who can chew the most scenery! (To the guy above who wrote glowingly of both the movie on an artistic level and Linda Blair on a gorgeous actress level - get yourself some much needed help, pal.)

Summary: Skip it, see Exorcist III Instead
Review: You won't miss anything in the storyline and you'll see a much better movie than this awful thing. Richard Burton must have really needed the money to do this.

Summary: Boring.......
Review: I can understand why William Peter Blatty did not do this film. The plot takes FOREVER to develop and I had to fight myself to stay awake. Exorcist II is poorly done compared to the original. Do yourself a favor and take a nap instead of wasting two hours sitting through this movie!

Summary: Disappointed
Review: Exorcist 2 is nothing compare to the first sequal. Performence of the actors is excellent but the script is awful. I bought it out of curiosity to see what will happen next.
Rent it before buying it.

Summary: This is why movies are great!!!
Review: When the whole world tells you a film is absolutly awful and you take the time to watch it and are hypnotized from fade in to fade out. This is what happened 20 years ago when I took the time to watch this film because I admired Boorman's POINT BLANK so much. Unbelievable!! If Boorman had just made a movie called THE HERETIC without the pretense of being a sequel to THE EXORCIST it would have a bigger following then it does now. This film is a delirious flood of images and ideas about the collective subconscience, good and evil, and is more a critique of Blatty and Friedkin's documentary approach to the original film then a sequel to it. Just as Boorman's films ZARDOZ and EXCALIBUR are dreamlike abstractions where the acting and plot are secondary to the visuals THE HERETIC does not play on our expectations of things that go bump in the night. BOO! He is more interested in the things that connect our dreams to our souls and our souls to the dreams of the rest of mankind. Pretenious? Maybe. Absurd? Certainly in spots, that is undeniable. But this movie is original, daring to be original when making a dull rehash of THE EXORCIST would have given Boorman the biggest audience of his career. Forget THE EXORCIST when you watch this film. Watch it for what it is. One of the greatest fantasy films ever made and one of Boorman's best.

Summary: Linda Blair made me do it!
Review: Exorcist 2 is only a masterpiece of Schlock, but it succeeds on that level. Linda Blair, while retaining a bit of baby fat, at 17 is drop dead gorgeous! Every scene shes in, she manages to inspire breathlessness! What a doll. The plot is laughable, something about locusts, and some demon named Pazolo or something. Who cares! Richard Burton and James Earl Jones co-starred and embarrassed themselves in this turkey.

Summary: Unleash the demon in you!
Review: Regan MacNeil is back to fight the demon Pazuzu in this thriller sequel to the scariest film ever made, The Exorcist. Although "The Heretic" does not have any spiderwalks or blood in it, it still is pretty good. However, this film was unnecessary. The Exorcist had a pretty good ending, however, did not leave you feeling scared and astonished like in "The Others", "Hannibal" or "Sixth Sense". John Boorman (director of "Deliverance") brings us the story of what happens to Regan after her possession. However, it leads us through many African trips and wild dreams. After purchasing "The Exorcist: Version You've Never Seen" and "Exorcist III" on DVD, I just had to get this. But at the time, it was only on video. So I have the 1999 video release version. But, since Videos and VCRs will eventually become obsolite, all VHS tapes must be converted to DVD. I have never seen the alternate ending to this movie but I hope that if you get this DVD, it is really good.

Summary: Gotta pinch those cheeks lol!
Review: This moive is amazing! a little scary but not that. Linda Blair is totally georgous in this movie! She still has her baby fat "chubby cheeks" but she is beautiful! Richard Burton is a little bit cheesy in the movie. Kitty Winn is really sweet and cool in the movie, she was a great actress. Only scaring part was flashbacks of Regan possessed. but a real good movie
