Summary: Below expectations
Review: The opening sequence of Lestat's awakening was the best part of the movie (notice the 2nd star in my rating). It went down hill from there. Aside from the previously mentioned departure from the novels (I know books diverge from the books they are based on, but I find it hard to believe that anyone involved with this production did more than skim the novels). It was a weak adaptation at best and hurts the franchise.

Yeah, the soundtrack was pretty good. It fit with the movie and that part, at least, was the same as the books.

What plot there was seemed to be dumbed down for the teenage audience who actually think Stuart Townsend is a better actor than Tom Cruise. Half of the people appearing onscreen are never even given a name.

Some people say the acting was good...did we see the same movie? What was up with the cat-like hissing made by the 'bad' vamps before they attacked someone? And why did they all dress like eurotrash at a biker bar...all the time? It was just ridiculous to watch.

Stick with the books for a much better evening or watch Interview with a Vampire. This is standard B-movie horror flick.

Summary: A fun vampire flick!
Review: Stuart Townsend nails the character of Lestat, playing both the monster and the hero. Fans of the Vampire Chronicles will notice a few big changes such as Marius giving Lestat the dark trick and the notable absence of Louis, played by Brad Pitt in "Interview . . . "

The fantastic soundtrack smoothes out many rough edges that could have detracted from the film. Jonathan Davis of Korn provides the musical voice of Lestat. Hopefully his record label will allow Davis' vocal tracks for this film to be released on cd one day.

The special effects are downplayed for the most part, allowing Townsend and company to be what Ann Rice's fans want to see: Tough, cool, evil, and strangely sympathetic vampires!

If you have any interest in vampires at all, watch Queen of the Damned. You won't be disappointed.

Summary: Not the book defeinetly
Review: Well the movie doesn't hold a candle to the book, of that i don't think many people have a doubt. But, in fairness i did go to see the movie a second time to try and ignore my memory of reading the book and just go for the cinimatic pleasure of the movie.
I liked it better the second time around, without all the nitpicking i did when i saw it opening night. However i dont think this movie deserves the title it recieved, and soon enough will be buried deep in the archives of the old horror movies.

Alyiha did a great job in the movie, she brought out all of the things you came to expect about Akasha from the books. Stuart Townsend also did a very good job i think, though his portrayal was alot different than most people (includeing myself) expected. I also enjoyed the actors that played Jesse, Maharet, and oddly enough Armand. He didn't have the red hair, or the dressings to make him very Armand looking (from teh book descriptions ofcourse) but he had the inocence that Antonio Banderas never captured.

Anyways I plan on picking up the movie at least, but i dont think this will ever make it to becomeing a classic vampire movie. A step above Dracula 2000, but not high enough on the ladder to match Interview with the Vampire or any of the other good genere movies out thier.

Summary: Great Movie
Review: I really liked this movie although it really didn't go along with the series of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicals.
But that really didn't matter to me no matter how much I like the series. I thought the acting was well done and the music was incredibal.
Things I found strange was saying Marius was Lestat's creator when directly in the book, "The Vampire Lestat" (which this movie slightly pertains to) it tells how Magnus made Lestat. It makes me wonder why they would change such a thing, but it's no big deal. And people must remember, this is a movie, not a 300 some 400 some page book.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: This movie was awesome. That's the only way to describe it. The QotD movie was based on two of Anne Rice's books, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned. The movies are never as good as the books because they don't follow the exact storyline so it wasen't as good as it colud have been but it was still great. Great actors/actresses and [kickin] music. This was grossly underrated at the box office.

Summary: Better than I thought
Review: With all the negative critic reviews i went to this movie very ready for [a bad movie], but I was very supprised. I loved this movie. Im a fan of the books and this is no way anything like the novel but they still made a enjoyable movie with an awesome cast. I really liked Akasha and Marius's performances

Summary: Queen of the Damned (theatrical)
Review: I waited for this movie for a long time. There are few movies I really count down until they are out, and this was one of them. I don't know if it's because I'm interested in vampires, or that Aaliyah had the sexiest looks in it, or maybe the fact that Aaliyah was killed and I wanted to see how or if they'd approach this movie entering theatres. Anyways, I was expecting a lot, and when I saw it opening night, I got a little less than I wanted, but I still loved it. Then I saw it a 2nd and 3rd time, and it became one of my favorite movies of all time.

It's simply about Vampire Lestat waking Queen Akasha. It's a sequel to Interview with the Vampire, but a long while later. Vampire Lestat has awoken from the sound of the world today - sex, drugs, and rock and roll. It takes the daily life of him and then shows him finding Akashas statue and biting her wrist, which starts getting her pumpin'. What he doesn't know is he just tasted the purest blood of all. The fun starts there.

Notes: I love the title of this movie. It really grabs my attention. I'm glad that they released it even though Aaliyah died; I'm sure she's very happy. The soundtrack is great, the songs fit perfectly.

Summary: Wow........Just wow.
Review: This movie was wicked. Maybe litteraly lol. From the first scene to the last, I was transfixed. Stuart Townsend was an extremely good Lestat. Not to mention sexy. Very Sexy. Lestat wakes up after being asleep for however long, (i forgot) and joins a band called Satans night out. They change the Name to The Vampire Lestat, and become instant rock stars. Lestat's Music wakes up the mother of all vamps, ad she sets out to have him and the world. all the vampires in the movie looked really good, and also very attractive. Then there's Jesse. she works for the talamasca,(a corp. that keps track of all things supernatural) and reads his diary. She falls for him, and kind of stalks him. She asks him to make he a vamp, and he shows hr what she'll have to do (drink blood.) and she backs off. Turns out, she's the niece of Maharet, one of te first vampires. Lestat teams up with Akasha and all the other vampires face off with Akasha. Jesse is killed......or is she? Maybe it's just a temporary death. I won't give too too much away! It's an awesome movie, so go rent it!!

Summary: Queen of the Damned Review
Review: Let me just start out by saying I am an Aaliyah (RIP) fan, and she was the main reason I saw the movie, but she wasn't the only reason and I'm not some idiot-kid who just watches commercially produced, sugar-coated "teen" films. The movie was, to me, a major disappointment. Don't get me wrong, it was still a decent movie, but I guess my hopes were to high after reading the two books that it was based on. The producers and directors were so worried about not making it a sequel to "Interview With A Vampire" that they ruined the plot. They completely changed the movie, which is understandable due to the fact that the book revolved around many character's points of view, but the plot they created was ill-conceived and shabby. The actors were all great, and it's a shame they were given such a sloppy movie to act in. Aaliyah was great, even if it was hard to imagine the beautiful, skinny girl as a bloodthirsty killing-machine. I won't spoil the movie, but I will say that it reflected the bad production of the movie when key characters from the book series were killed off without as much as two lines when they weren't even supposed die in the first place (Don't worry, it's not a major spoiler or anything, you probably won't even realize what I'm taslking about unless you've read the book). I'm even a big fan of horror and vampire literature, films, and shows, but this film still let me down. It would have been a great movie if only they stuck to the original plot with only minimal changes to the flow of the movie.

Summary: Aaliyah's duality
Review: Like many of Aaliyah fans who already knew of her mysterious dark side, if anyone is familiar with Ancient Egyptian Solar Deities, Aaliyah's "other side" is personified in Queen of the Damned. Akasha is Sekhmet whose essence is fire, she is the dark side of Het-Heru. Aaliyah's nature is intrinsically Ancient Egyptian philosophy. Het Hert(Aaliyah) is the loving goddess of music, dance, beauty, and pleasure while her dark side is Sekhmet or Nesert, the flame who is a ferocious killer that annihilates the wicked on earth who lost respect for thier creator and became so self-absorbed and self-indulgent they believed they were gods on earth. Sekhmet is the vengeful Eye Of Ra who slithers towards her pray before she attacks. Sekhmet was crowned with a Solar disc and all whom she saw she slew, rejoicing in slaughter and the taste of blood.
I enjoyed Queen of the Damned because it was simply an entertianing film which the soundtrack plays an integral part of your enjoyment of the film as a whole. Though Aaliyah's first destructive scene when she makes her entrance at "The Club" is worth the price of you owning a DVD copy. I could have wrote better lines than some of the dialogue in the film but I always take a film for what it is-not what it should or could have been. Some Aaliyah fans complained because she was only in the film for a fraction-but for me, as a fan from the inception of her career, that made her scenes all the more poignant.
