Review: This DVD is the first of the Child Play series and is by far the best. Chucky, a sadistic, smart and persuasive doll who has been possessed by the ghost of Charles Lee Ray is the star and is actually a pretty freaky looking doll. The young boy Chucky needs to hurt/kill in order to obtain his body is played by a wonderful (young at the time) actor Alex Vincent, a very intelligent first move.
There are a few good scares in this first one, unpredictable since it's the first, a good start and a must see for horror fans. Chucky will sure be a classic of our times.

Review: I'm the type of person who loves horror movies, but is never scared of them and ends up laughing their guts out during the movie. But when I first saw Child's play 2 when I was 7, I was drawn into this franchise. But then I saw Child's Play on Sci-Fi in 2002, I had a good laugh out of it and fright too. Child's play 1 is probably the best Chucky film in the series, and is a good movie to watch if you like those comedy/horror films with the little freaky dolls running around. Rent Child's Play 2 after you see this one, and avoid 3, Bride of Chucky, Son of Chucky, and the rest of the sequels.

Summary: Chucky Cheese...
Review: Yep, this is the original movie that started the (now ridiculous) franchise! The story opens with serial killer and all around creepazoid, Charles Lee "Chucky" Ray (Brad Dourif) being shot by a cop (Chris Sarandon) in a toy store. With his dying breath, Charles asks the great voodoo gods to allow his soul to enter a doll's body. Sometime later, a mom (Catherine Hicks) buys the doll from a homeless guy in an alley. Chucky soon befriends her son and begins weaving his evil web of terror and revenge. Though I can't take CHILD'S PLAY completely seriously, it does have it's creepy charms. Chucky is at his best when seen running by in the background or when we see a tiny plastic hand turn a doorknob. He doesn't fair as well in close-ups. After all, he's just not that scary! Like the Zuni warrior doll in TRILOGY OF TERROR, Chucky becomes downright silly when over-exposed! That's why the sequels are such a joke. Thankfully, Tom Holland used restraint and didn't have Chucky in every frame of this one or it would have been a disaster! Anyway, CP is a good, cheesy spooker with atmosphere and humor. Worth owning...

Review: Forget Seed of Chucky, Bride of Chucky, and the other two sequels that came after this surprisingly good horror romp. Tom Holland (Fright Night) directed this horror romp, in which the soul of a deranged killer inhabits a child's doll. Child's Play manages to boast a few genuine scares and add some creepy atmosphere to boot, with Brad Dourif doing great work as the voice of killer "good guy" doll Chucky. I won't go into the plot, since everyone pretty much already knows it, but what I will say is that this is about ten times better than any movie to feature the killer doll released since, and surprisingly the film hasn't aged too badly. All in all, if you've never seen the original Child's Play, give it a try; although I wish the DVD were presented in widescreen.

THE STORY: Criminal mastermind, Charles "Chucky" Lee Ray, is in a heap of trouble! A policeman chased him to a toy shop, and he gets shot. The dying Charles knows voodoo however, and, after mumblinng some strange words, he transmits his soul into one of the "Good Guy" dolls. A few months later, a boy named Andy gets a Good Guy doll for his birthday. The doll talks, saying the infamous phrase, "Hi! I'm Chucky! Wanna play!?". Then, one night, "Chucky" tells Andy about who he is and promises that if Andy tells anybody, he'll kill him! Later, Chucky learns that to get out of the doll body, he must "voodoo" the person he confessed his secret to. Guess who?

MY THOUGHTS: Child's Play is a fun ride! Although the worst in the series, it still rocks! For the time it was made, the special effects were excellent! It's a horror movie with a good sense of humor!

Review: Ok when I was younger my biggest fear used to be clowns and dolls. Barbies, porcelain dolls, any clowns at all seemed to creep me out easily. Also, red hair is scary looking too. 16 years ago I decided to see this movie. Thank god it was so f***** HILARIOUS!!!! THis movie was so damn pathetic and stupid and unsensable I just laughed. They purposely tried to make Chucky look tough, evil, and scary (ultimate villain) but it was SAD. I have suddenly lost my fear of dolls after they created this while other gay idiots started to become scared of them. This movie should burn in hell. The new one coming out Seed of Chucky (they should've stopped after one since it was so pointless) says Chucky is mad strong. well, that lil fag calls classic badass villains such as Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers pussy, and Chucky will never face someone in multiple groups. What a f***** hypocrite. He goes flying back twenty feet after one kick and is the weakest sh** ive seen in my life. This movie is so sad and the villain is damn harmless. Thank you chucky for getting rid of my fears off dolls with your gayness!

Summary: By far the best Chucky movie!
Review: Andy is a young boy who has no friends and wants this talking doll who's saying is "friends till the end". It is his dream birthday present and his mom manages to get him one from a bum off the street. The doll just happens to be possessed by a dead serial killer. The boy and the mom slowly realize this. Once they realize that the doll is evil and is killing people they need to try to convince other people including a cop played by Chris Sarandin (Fright Night). Chucky also wants out of doll form and eventually trys to get in Andy's body by chanting some special voo doo words lol. Anyway this movie is far more smart, scary and original than the sequels. The sequels just get dumber and dumber. Actually seeing the doll make these evil faces and cursing the first scene that Chucky reveals himself to the mother is both fun and scary. Now seeing him curse and be mean in the new movies is played out and just not scary any more. All the originality and freshness can only be found in this movie. I mean now Chucky has a wife he got pregnant, dolls have sperm ? lol. So that's about as dumb the sequels got and can get after this smart and scary original.
