Summary: Surprisingly Effective Little Horror Flick
Review: Though I own the movie on videotape, I'll admit to feeling a compulsion to watch at least a few minutes of Silver Bullet every time it's shown on television. It's a surprisingly effective little film, an old-fashioned monster movie with some real shocks. Certainly there have been better werewolf movies, some with much higher budgets, but this one definitely has its moments, and a solid cast of good character actors. The movie is told from the viewpoint of Marty, a young boy confined to a wheelchair, but narrated as a flashback by his now grown sister, Jane. There is an interesting sub-plot that details in a realistic way the relationships between the members of Marty's family and especially the relationship between Marty, Jane, and the black-sheep of the family, Uncle Red. Keeping the budget in mind, the werewolf creature itself is as effective as a man-in-a-suit can be without being able to rely on CGI, and its attacks shocking and gruesome but not quite going over the line in graphic gore. Some of my favorite moments: The attack on a suicidal, pregnant young woman who is literally torn to pieces; the discovery of a young boy's horribly mutilated body (we don't see it, but it so shocks the police officer who finds it that he can only mutter a horrified prayer to the Virgin, while the boy's father is reduced to guttural screams); the first midnight attack on Marty on a lonely bridge; his later helpless confrontation with the werewolf in human form; the savage murder of an officer; the beautiful little scene detailing the crafting of two pieces of religious jewelry into the silver bullet; and the final transformation from werewolf back to man. I like the high-budget special effects blockbusters as well as anyone, but I suggest that you give this modest-budget little horror flick a look. If it's on television I'll probably be watching too!

Summary: A Werewolf, Killings, Lynch Mobs,...A Silver Bullet
Review: A delightfull movie from yesteryear, a very good movie indeed for the time frame and year it was made from. If your looking for all the computer animation, special effects of todays modern movies, tis best to look elsewhere, but tis if a night of fancifull storytelling, a slight scare, and a good story from stephen king tis what is on your mind, than look no farther than here.
A Story of a small town struggling against an unknown menace to most, but the killer is known all to well to a small boy that is lame and bound to a wheelchair.
Gary Busey gives a wonderfull performance in the part of Uncle Red...the uncle that each of us have, the magic uncle, the big brother uncle.
The Narrarator of the story adds a good element in her return of memory and the voice she adds to the movie, in the remembering form of the boys sister.
Overall a good movie to be had and seen, and I reccomend it, for both stephen king fans and those of the horror genre in general.
Watch it on a full moon, and don't forget to buy your silver bullett.

Summary: Sure to please at sleepovers
Review: I had a gaggle of teens over for sleepover, and they wanted to watch Fear.com. After checking with all you marvelous Amazon reviewers, I turned it off. They whined, so I brought out Silver Bullet. Yes, it is an old movie, but kudos to the DeLaurentis (director) and King. The movie has such an impact. Picking a boy in a wheelchair was excellent. You sympathize because he is a child, and the feeling of being chased but not being able to run, classic nightmare stuff. The monster may look hokey at times, but once again, kudos for showing us the monster throughout the movie (in good lighting), and not just in the last few minutes. Blood, yes there is some, but barely reaching an R level. I would not show the movie to anyone younger than thirteen. BUT, it is much better than psycho slasher movies. Also, the victims are not all helpless women. It did the trick at the sleepover, not a peep throughout the movie, and everyone too scared to sleep near a window when it was over. Beware the full moon, especially if it falls in the cycle of the wolf.

Summary: One of the best!
Review: Clearly one of the best werewolf movies ever made! Although people underestimate the number of good werewolf films out there because there really aren't that many werewolf movies to begin with, and so many are bad. First off, if you're looking for more good ones, check out the two American Werewolf movies, and the first Howling movie, and give each of it's sequels a chance, because some people like different ones though most of them are terrible but I can't tell you which you'll like. Just avoid the latest, number 7 I think. And of course there's the Wolf Man, Teen Wolf, Company of Wolves, Red Riding Hood, Wolf, and some other good ones too. ANyway, as for Silver Bullit, one of the best. Anyone who says it's not scary is throwing you off. The scene at night on the bridge is very scary, as is the dream sequence, and the rotting bridge sequence, and the finale. All the acting is great, perfect casting, and you can really put yourself into the characters' places which you must do to get scared watching a horror film. The werewolf itself looks great. The body is a bit bear-like, but the head is wolfish enough and the body makes it quite intimidating. Anyway, it IS scary. And as for the effects, they're not at all dated but rather they are exceptional! As good as American Werewolf in London's effects though you don't see THAT much of the transformation. The scene where the hairs are going back into the Werewolf's skin always freaked me out. These effects are soooooo much better than the computer crap we have to put up with today. It's sooooo hard to be scared by that stuff!!!!

Summary: By the light of the moon
Review: A cycle of terror ... Every month, when the moon is at its fullest, the usually quiet town of Tarker's Mills is visited by what the townspeople think is a homicidal maniac. Mutilated corpses begin to turn up and a curfew is administered upon the residents of Tarker's Mills. One crippled boy nevertheless decides to ignore the curfew - which led to the cancellation of the Fourth of July Fireworks - and meets the mysterious murderer face-to-face one night. So begins a quest to discover the true idenity of this monster. Daniel Attias has produced one of the creepiest Stephen King films ever with 'Silver Bullet'. The screenplay (written by King) is an adaptation of his novella, 'Cycle of the Werewolf', about a lycanthrope who hunts down the townspeople of Tarker Mills. The film is well paced and has a 'whodunnit' feel, as well as plenty of extremely scary moments that will ensure you do not head for the 'eject' button, feeling you have wasted your hard earned dollars. Moreover, there is a great cast here, headed by veteran actor Gary 'Point Break' Busey, Corey 'The Lost Boys' Haim, and Terry 'The Stepfather' O'Quinn. I first watched this film when it came out for rental in the mid-eighties and it scared the bejezus out of me. So, take the nightmare ride of your life through the fog shrouded woods of Tarker's Mills, but beware the moon. 'Silver Bullet' also stars Everett McGill of 'Twin Peaks' and 'The People Under The Stairs', and Megan Follows, star of 'Anne of Green Gables'.

Review: I want to make this clear !.To those who are familiar with the current trend in horror,this movie may be too childish ..but when we watch movies which used to scare us when we were kids it is nothing but a great pleasure.This movie frightened me like
anything especially the scenes in which Brady and Tammy get "torn to pieces" by the Werewolf.This movie is an adaptation from the Stephen King's "Cycle of the Werewolf"..But
certain hallmarks of King such as the origin of the evil and it's reason for killing etc..are missing ,neverthless it is a treat .
To movie each movie has something to say or conversely I watch movies which have something to say...
In this movie one can find,as in most of the SK's novels,a crippled boy fighting and finally beating the Werewolf inspite of all the difficulties!
Anyway to sum up,this movie is a wonderful treat for those love

Review: I've seen alot of werewolf movies and this is by far the scarest for me. I think the special effects were great. It's alot scarier then American Werewolf in Paris or The Howling. I loved the Howling but it doesnt scare me quite like this one. I can barely watch it. That too me makes a great horror movie.

Summary: great fun!
Review: "Silver Bullet" is proof that you don't need great werewolf F/X to have a great werewolf movie. It's not that the werewolf looks particularly bad, just... average. But the fun is in the story.
Corey Haim (before he got famous and became an irritating joke) stars as Marty, a wheelchair-bound youngster who, midway through the movie, has an encounter with the beast that has been murdering townsfolk, including Marty's best pal and (in a very amusing scene) his sweetheart's drunken father. The beast is clearly a werewolf, but who will believe him? Surprisingly, only his snotty sister (Megan Follows) does, and this is the bond that carries the movie. The rapport between Haim and Follows is excellent, and their scenes together are often touching. The rest of the energy in the movie is provided by former (?) cocaine fiend Gary Busey as the siblings' alcoholic Uncle Red. Busey, whose career peaked in the 70's with his excellent work in "The Buddy Holly Story" and has been declining ever since, rebounds slightly in this movie with his highly entertaining character. Although Uncle Red is not the greatest role model for Marty, they clearly adore each other, even if Red's skepticism regarding the werewolf sometimes borders on the hysterical. The siblings discover the werewolf's human identity and try to come up with a plan for killing it, while Uncle Red struggles to swallow their story. It all builds to an exciting conclusion as the trio confront the beast on Halloween night.
The supporting cast of colorful townspeople adds immeasurably to the movie's enjoyment factor. The viewer is also treated to some genuinely touching moments, a few decent scares (like when the vigilante mob goes werewolf-hunting and winds up getting slaughtered by the crafty beast), and a thrilling chase scene between the werewolf (in human form) and Marty in his souped-up wheelchair.
While there are certainly better-looking werewolves out there, "Silver Bullet" can't be beat in terms of pure fun. It would even make an excellent family movie (except for the gore), because of the love and trust shared by Marty, his sister, and their uncle, which provides the movie with its strong moral center. Check it out. You won't regret it. If you do, you're just a boring, cynical person, and I pity you.

Review: this film is based on the Stephen King novel "Cycle of The Werewolf". there have been so many films based on Stephen King novels. a couple of them have been good, for example ("1980's "The Shining" starring Jack Nicholson and(1979's "Salem's Lot" starring David Soul). there have been some that have been mediocre including (1983's "Cujo" starring Dee Wallace Stone), (1984's "Christine" starring Keith Gordon) and 1993's "Needful Things" starring Ed Harris).And there have been many terrible film's , they include( 1984'S "Children of the Corn" starring Linda Hamilton), ( 1989's "Sleepwalkers" starring Brian Krause) and (2003's "Dreamcatcher" starring Morgan Freeman). But this film "Silver Bullet" takes the CAKE ! (Corey Haim) stars as a wheelchaired bound 11 year old who is the main obstacle for a werewolf that is terrorizing a small New England town. you instantly know who the werewolf is right at the start of the film. (Gary Busey) does his best with the crummy role that he is stuck with and that is being Corey Haim's drunken uncle and (Megan Follows) does a decent job as Corey's sister. But the rest of the acting in the film is totally garbage. Also the make - up for the not so scary looking werewolf appears to have been done by a 3rd grade student. if you want to see a couple of GOOD WEREWOLF FILMS , THEN CHECK OUT "AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON" AND "THE HOWLING" , THEY BOTH HAVE GOOD ACTING AND THE MAKE- UP AND SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE VERY WELL DONE.

Review: What the hell is this crap? A kid in a wheelchair outrunning a werewolf?! I think not! And that dumb souped up bike thing. And the preist is a werewolf?! God...Teen Wolf with Michael J. fox was scarier! Spend your horror bucks someplace else. This just sucks.
