Summary: The saw is family
Review: Since New Line released their recent re-make of the The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, they finally had the good sense to release Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 on an extra laden DVD. Undoubtadly the best, and sadly the monst infamous, sequel in the series, this installment finds two college students (Kate Hodge and William Butler) stranded on a Texas backroad being stalked and hacked up by Leatherface and his larger cannibalistic family. Ever since this film was released, it garnered a lot of criticism and bad press because of it's many attempts just to get an R rating. Well, here it is in all it's unrated gory glory, but for the life of me I cannot understand how the unrated version never got an R rating; I mean House of 1000 Corpses was gorier than that. The film also stars a pre-Lord of the Rings Viggo Mortensen as a member of Leatherface's family, and Dawn of the Dead's Ken Foree as a survivalist who is all that stands between the kids and the family. The DVD includes a documentary on the film, deleted scenes, and a commentary by director Jeff Burr and crew.

Summary: Only one that lives up to the original
Review: The first TCM was one of the biggest horror hits of all time, inflicting pain and brutal terror upon its viewers. The 2nd installment was awesome, but was nothing like the original. The 3rd TCM actually lived up to the original, but after it's release it was long forgotten. You would think with Tobe Hooper not directing this movie, it would be a huge mistake, but actually, it was a good idea. None of the old family members are here, accept an older, greener grandpa, and of course, Leatherface. The house is different, but the inside looks similar to the original, but not much. Leatherface has a different looking mask, still made of human flesh though. The settings are: The desert, an old gas station, the texas woods in very thick darkness, and Leatherfaces (new) house. This movie has a whole lot of action. Lots blood and gore violence, on the unrated edition, gunshots, and lots of good chainsaw action. This is Leatherface at his best, so look closely, you might miss something bizarre!

R-Rated Version: This version, well, sucks. It has a whole bunch of perfectly good violence edited out. Watch the unrated version for true terror!

Unrated Version: If you are a horror/violence fan, you should know to always look for an unrated version of a good horror movie. This version of L:TCM3 is the bloody, gory, violent version only strong horror fans can view. Weak-hearted people, you have been warned!

Summary: good ONLY!!!and i mean ONLY!!!with alternate ending/unrated
Review: how could the makers of this flick watch the two endings they made for this movie and then release it with the soft everyone's happy and gets away after they use a few heroic cussssss words woooosy kind of an ending? the alternate ending truly SAVE'S this movie!!the alternate ending is good and spooky like the original TCM's ending.the soft ending truly destroys the movie!its already a movie thats trying to live up to the original(WICH WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!) why would you ever try to throw in a soft ending?i bet i can answer my own question"MONEY MONEY$$$$$$$$$$$$$$MONEY BIG STUDIO CHOP FEST!!!they should release a new dvd version with the alternate ending in the main feature!!and they should outwright doooo awayyy with the soft ending!!!WITH THE ALTERNATE ENDING IT TURNS OUT TO BE A DAMN GOOD TRIBUTE TO THE ORIGINAL!!other then that the directing was good, the murder scenes were relentless with that classic spooky TCM atmosphere.everyone did a good job acting with the exception's of KEN FOREE!!!!i just can't stand this guy he is one of the worst actors ive ever seen,im a huge ROMERO fan don't get me wrong, but out of the dead trilogy dawn of the dead is by far the worst of the three and ironicly its for the exact same two reasons this movie only gets three stars from me because of the SAD!SAD!SOFT!ENDING and KEN(beat up the bad guy with my crapppy!fake gung fu kicken machine gun carrying save the girl in the unrealistic end!!!)FOREE'S BAD! ACTING JOB!REAL TCM FANS get this dvd because once you get past KEN FOREE'S bad superman acting and you watch the movie unrated with the alternate ending im sure you will be pleased!!!!!ONLY THE UNRATED VERSION AND THE ALTERNATE ENDING!!!!! SHAME ON THE MAKERS OF THIS FLICK FOR SUCKING UP TO HOLYWOOD$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Summary: Extremely Entertaining!
Review: This is the first movie I ever bought blind. well, actually, I didn't buy it. I got it for Christmas and was happy to have it since I'm a big fan of Parts 1 and 2 (and I really enjoyed the remake, too). Anyway, I axtually watched the R-Rated one first, and I was pretty dissipointed because of the lack of gore and a really bad ending. But, my feelings changed after I watched the Unrated one. Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 is actually very fun and really entertaining. After the black comedy of part 2 (which I liked a lot), part 3 returns to the more gruesome and tension-filled shoes of the original. Of course, it doesn't come close to being the original. It isn't nearly as scary or disturbing, but some parts are very good. The scene with Ryan (William Butler) and Michelle (Kate Hodges) changing the tire is filled with suspense, and I loved the scenes with the family interacting. The acting in this film is surprisingly good, with Kate Hodges especially impressive as Michelle. The man who played Leatherface did a great job, too. Also, future Lord of the Rings star Viggo Mortenson is in this.

The movie isn't crawling with gore like the second movie, but has a fair amount in the Unrated one. The most significant differences between the two versions come in the final half-hour. Just watch that amazing shoot-out! The biggest problem with this movie is the ending, in which two clearly DEAD characters come back from the dead, very unrealistically. The original ending, included on the DVD, doesn't make a lot of sense, but would have been a lot better if it was in the movie.

Anyway, give Leatherface a spin. Watch the Unrated one and maybe you'll enjoy, because I definately do.

Summary: Brilliant,Fantastic,Magnificent,Terrific,Wonderful Movie!!!!
Review: I love all of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies and think they all deserve very high ratings and I recommend you purchase all of them and watch them many times in sequence,(the more you see them the more you see which you might have missed or not understood something correctly etc especially look out for the talk about it being the FBI involvment near the end of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4 that was really very interesting), but must say that this one just comes out on top as my favourite in the series of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Films. I do not like to nit pick or criticise any of them as they are all different and good in there own way and like the rest of them this movie has tons of gore, horror and violence. I would like to mention an interesting point from a previous re-viewer I read regarding him mentioning two dead characters coming back to life? we'll they were not actually dead only playing dead that's something that you learn to do in the forces or the TA, if your in some situation like they were in next to being klled then die before it happens in other words play dead!
A woman (Kate Hodge) & man (William Butler) on their way to Los Angeles stop for gas and directions and get harassed by the service station owner. Then a hitchhicker (Viggo Mortensen) trys to help but it leads to violence and the couple flee the area. Later while being pursued by an unknown truck they swerve into the way of a Jeep driven by a Survivalist (Ken Foree).
They have to abandon the vehilcles as they are being pursued by unknown assailants and they eventually end up trapped in the marshy forest estate of the family of cannibalistic serial killers.
This movie is actually one of my favourite movies, the best two movies I have ever seen and like the best are this one and the original Dawn of the Dead. I think what makes me like these movies even more is because they also have one of my favourite actors in them, Ken Foree. I think Ken Foree is a brilliant actor although I really like other actors like Robert De Niro, George Clooney, Rutger Hauer, Richard Gere, Patrick Swazye etc I like Ken Foree better and would rather see him in a lot more films as many as De Niro or Clooney have been in etc. Some actors like Ken Foree and all of the others I have mentioned and many more just have that extra Charismatic something about them that makes them brilliant and any movie they appear in really good, they have a way of changing you for the better just by looking at them etc, check out Rutger Hauer's official website and maybe this will help explain what I mean. But I think Ken Foree made Leatherface The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 what it was and I don't think it would have been the same without him in it and I don't think Dawn of the Dead would have been the same without him in it either and even though I am from the UK I decided to search for and purchase all of his movies, and TV films etc and eventually managed to get them all mainly from Amazon in the UK and Amazon in the USA and all are brilliant, I like all of them especially Hangfire, and True Blood, most were in NTSC USA format though so I just purchased a Multi-Region DVD player from Amazon.co.uk which was well worth the money and you can play any DVD format on them. I recommend also the original Dawn of the Dead in DVD format. I prefer Leatherface in the DVD format as well especially the one I just bought which has the following Bonus Features:

Choose Between the Cut or The Uncut Feature * Never Before Released in the UK * Including an Optional Directors Commentary for the Uncut Version * Final Original Ending * The Saw is Family - Documentary * Deleted Scenes

If you like these type of horror movies then I also recommend George Clooney's From Dusk Till Dawn it is absolutely Brilliant and also one of my favourite movies one of the best I have ever seen!

Summary: It`s a Sequel but also a Part Remake of the Original.
Review: It`s been years Serial Killer-Leatherface (R.A. Mihailoff) has been missing and he`s the most wanted killer in Texas. When two college students (Kate Hodge & William Bulter) are going to California, On that same day, when they thought, they have taken a shorter route to California. They are stalked by Leatherface and his demented family (Viggo Mortensen, Joe Under, Tom Everett, Jennifer Banko & Miriam Byrd-Nethery), which they are a family of a bizarre cannibalistic clan with blood on their hands and a feast on their mind. But the college students are being helped by a Survivalist (Ken Foree) with enough firepower to blast Leatherface and his family, if they survived the night.

Directed by Jeff Burr (Stepfsther 2) made a entertaining, at time darkly humour Sequel/Remake of the Original film. Which this film was supervised by Kim Henkel (Co-Writer of the Original Texas), which he was a Creative Consultant for the film. It`s also the better acted in the series until the 2003 Remake. The DVD has a terrific Audio Commentary by the Director, Screenwriter:David J. Schow, Make-Up Effects Supervisor:Greg Nicotero from KNB Make-Up F/X Studio, New Line`s Film Production Executive:Mark Ordesky, Actors:R.A. Mahiloff and William Bulter. DVD Extras are Terrific, which included:Documentary on the Making of the Third Film-Deleted Scenes-Alternate Ending and Theatrical Trailer. Features also for DVD-ROM Content. DVD has an clean anamorphic Widescreen (1.85:1) transfer and an strong Digitally Remastered-Dolby Digital 5.1 Expanded Surround Sound (Also in DTS 6.1 Surround Sound). Although the real treat watching this film is now seeing Cult Star:Ken Foree from Dawn of the Dead (Also in the Original and the Remake) and Viggo Montensen from the Popular-The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Also who knew by watching the Documentary that New Line`s Production Executive wanted Oscar-Winner:Peter Jackson to direct this film ! and this film was submitted at least 11 times to get an R-Rating for the Motion Picture Association of America ! DVD Features also has the R-Rated Version and the Unrated Version. Unrated Version has Four Mintues of Additional Footage, which makes the film stronger. Fans of Texas won`t be disappointed, while anothers might take a look. Written by David J. Schow (The Crow). Grade:A-.

Summary: Leatherface Voorhees
Review: The reason I titled this review Leatherface Voorhees is simply because I think they tried to mimic Jason too much in this one. They gave Leatherface a brace on his leg (which he didn't have in any other Chainsaw film but this one) as an excuse to walk and stalk and be more Jason like.
I did, however, give the dvd four stars, because even though they tried to sell the movie, by making Leatherface more like Jason, it was still a great slasher film, and although it dropped the origional Sawyer family, it was a great stand alone Texas Chainsaw flick and a fun thrill ride and a half.
Leatherface The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III was scary in some spots, and it tipped the hat to the origional. It was funny when it needed to be funny, but sick when it needed to be sick.
The acting was pretty good, with Ken (Dawn of the Dead) Foree as one of the lead characters.
As far as the dvd is concerned, the extra features are awesome! Both documentaries are most informative and have great interviews with the cast and crew. It is very cool, as well, how the documentaries go over Ed Gein a little.

Summary: the best sequel by far......Sick DVD!
Review: This does not capture the same suspense and horror as the original obviously, but it is deff. by far the best sequel out there in the series. Whats more interesting is the dvd itself, the dvd comes with an insightful commentary, along with the making of documentary. This documentary gives a little backround about the real murders in Texas and some real authentic crime scene photos which is pretty cool. The first TCM dvd didn't even have cool stuff like that. Leathereface also comes with the R and unrated version, alternate ending, and deleted scenes. All in all new line cinema did a great job on the dvd. Did I also mention the dvd is transfered in 6.1 DTS and 5.1 surround ex. !!!

Summary: Not the Best One in the Series, but better than #2 and #4
Review: I bought this movie last night dying to see it,but wondering if it was gonna be trash like "The Next Generation",but surprisingly it wasn't bad at all.The movie follows two college kids driving cross country and then stumbling into a gas station meeting a hitch hiker named Tex (played by Viggo Mortensen in his pre-lord of the rings day) who tells them to go down a back road, before he supposedly gets shot. The two kids stupidly take that way eventually meeting Leatherface and then crashing into a marine sort of guy named Benny, who has enough firepower to blast Leatherface and his sick clan away. Now although the movie is nothing like the original or #2 it is a good film with a very creepy Leatherface.I also like how the films have a narration at the beginning explaining what had happened to the character Sally Hardesty from "TCM #1" and explaining how a man named W.E. Sawyer was supposedly Leatherface and he got the gas chamber.
Problem is I don't know who W.E. is.There's Drayton,Chop-Top,and the freaky hitch hiker who got hit by a semi in the first one.But the film is a great movie that I would recommend to anyone who likes horror films.Enjoy!!!
