Summary: Funny and frightening if you "get it"
Review: I reckon it's not surprising that people are shishkebabbing this movie to death. It's an easy target. My girlfriend sat there totally dumbfounded. I asked her afterwards was it "too much" or "too stupid" (I knew there would be some kind of reaction). She said "stupid", but I think it was more like "uneasy". Which is easy to understand. This flick pretty much tackles every depravity and sends it up to the stratosphere. And I'll be damned if Mr. Zombie hasn't created some new cinematic tricks to keep you on edge and guessing as to when the real bloodletting is gonna fly. And the soundtrack? Holy moley, this is Goth paradise! Personally, I found Mr. Zombie's characters and humor to be pretty dead on. I chuckled throughout the entire thing. But I'm a Zombie fan (not a big one) and "got it". It's hard to say how many people will do the same. At any rate, a great flick and destined to be a classic.

Summary: One of the top three horror movies of the last two decades!
Review: House of 1000 Corpses is an instant classic - but don't listen to me, go experience it yourself. Without giving too much away, the film is a true horror film that is made for horror fans and horror fans alone. The plot is basic, but the dialogue itself is great. The characters are what make this movie... Captain Spaulding and the grandpa taking the cake. Truly funny and memorable characters. And don't forget Dr. Satan and his crew - great, great horror creations, the whole lot! There's a lot of people talking about how this movie didn't live up to the hype... well, whatever their standards are, they're quite unrealistic. This once again is an instant classic and will still be talked about decades from now! I'm not the biggest fan of his music, but hopefully Zombie will continue this director thing - his first attempt was brilliant!

Summary: One of the best horror films i've personally seen
Review: Rob Zombie is a creative genius. I saw this movie on April 12th and everything just came full circle for me. I first heard of this films about two years ago and have been following the news of it up to the day that I finally saw it. I loved every minute of the film. I could instantly tell that it was a labor of love. It had no generic feel to it whatsoever and even though the basic storyline isn't original, the whole story is unlike anything that I have ever seen. I like Rob's vision and if he chooses to make another film, i'm almost certain that I will see it.

Review: Rob Zombie has never pretended to do anything more than entertain. That's it. He doesn't try to pass his music off as high art - just art that gets you high. And it works. He knows what he loves as a listener, a viewer, a consumer - and he creates it. For that, this reviewer will be eternally grateful.HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES isn't new. It isn't particularly inspired. It seems downright familiar most of the time. And it works. Anyone who salivates at the mention of Lucio Fulci, Herschell Gordon Lewis or Tobe Hooper will find lots to love in HOUSE... None of these filmmakers set out to do anything other than turn the stomach and tingle the spine - and Zombie slips into this role comfortably. He takes the tried-and-true formula of four teens on a weekend romp who get lost in the sticks and he opens up the throttle for 90 minutes. A bevy of colorful characters are introduced and many summarily offed. Subplots, legends, and twisted family origins fly in and out and our heroes and heroines are butchered and chased and captured and tortured and trapped and escape and are chased and captured and trapped and tortured again. All to the throbbing beat of a Zombie soundtrack and the twisted visuals and editing that hearken back to Zombie's own music videos. If you love exploitative gorefests - if you love Rob Zombie's music - if you love classic horror films devoid of sitcom stars and who's-the-masked-man mysteries - then you'll love HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES. It isn't original. It isn't intelligent. It isn't art. It is 100% non-stop entertainment.

Summary: IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!!
Review: Well after about three years of waiting for this movie to be released, my moment finally came this week, and I must say, I was VERY pleased with the outcome.
Rob Zombie is a true horror fan, and it shows. This is not a teen slasher flick. This is not a psychlogical thriller. This is a HORROR movie. Good ol' fashioned eyes wide open hand over mouth skin crawling HORROR!!! I loved it!!!
There will no doubt be comparisms to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies, but that is fine with me. I would rather have a homage to 70's horror every 20 years than another Scream copy every other month.
Zombie did a fantastic job in his directorial debut with a great balance of "shocking" imagery and dark humor. His visuals were disturbing and believable. He cast veterens of the genre who did an outstanding job. Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, and Karen Black were all over the top, just as us horror fans would expect them to be. Sheri Moon was the big surprise to me. She was wickedly entertaining and sexy as Baby in her big screen debut. I must add that Rob Zombie is one VERY lucky guy. Hubba Hubba!! What a hottie!!!
This is the kind of torture and mayhem that made me a fan of horror almost 30 years ago. Hopefully this movie gets a chance to shine through the deluted mumbo jumbo that is being considered "horror" these days. By the way, the only reason I didn't give this movie 5 stars is because I know there has been alot cut out of this film to give it an R rating. I'll save my 5 stars for the DVD release with the Directors Cut.

Summary: From a true horror/gore fan....this movie sucks
Review: I say beware because this movie is literally one of the worst I've ever seen. I love horror movies and always willing to sit through just about anything but this movie offers nothing to anyone.
As Rob Zombie robs from the greats (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, one and two mind you, Motel Hell, Funhouse, The Hills Have Eyes, Last House On The Left, etc) he has no clue what to do with what he has plundered.
To begin with, this movie is not scary. There's no tension, no dynamics. Any spare moment is filled in with dull visuals of Sherri Moon dancing to really bad synth sounds. With a girl that hot you'd think you could stomach it but it just comes off as poor filler. Once you realize that everyone is going to die there's no real reason to invest interest into anything that's happening...unless! of course they die in an interesting or very gory way .....WHICH DOESN'T HAPPEN EITHER! With the exception of one scene there is no visual flair or REAL GORE to speak of! The only people who are going to say this movie is gory are lightwieghts. Basically I'm trying to say this movie fails at everything it tries. Its not scary, its not gory, its not funny, its not even kitschy. Its story is a nonsense collage made up of pieces taken from good horror movies. Its edited poorly, the sound quality is horrible (keep in mind I've watched tons of 3rd generation mono videos). Even the seasoned actors can't polish Rob Zombies dialogue turds. Even the sets look boring in the movie. Strange, considering Rob Zombie's video sets and stage shows are usually chock full of cool visuals.
I really wish this movie didn't get released. If not for the fact that its a total carwreck, for the fact that movie studios will probably turn down any 70's style horror that comes their way for a long time. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!

Summary: Isn't our world sad enough? NO STARS
Review: oh my God?! This movie was awful. I am a person who loves horror movies, and Halloween, scaring people and being scared. But, what the hell??? Seeing someone tied up, and tortured and mutilated is not my idea of a scary movie. In fact, I wasn't really that scared watching it, I was rather sickened and disturbed. I usually loves movies with gore and blood, but someone being mutilated and tortured, is not my idea of a horror movie. It was very hard sit through. I feel as if Rob Zombie should stick to making music, seeing the acting ... in this movie. Also, it was like he took a bad Ed Gein movie, The Texas Chainsaw massacre, and and bad 70's TV show and rolled it into a movie. THIS MOVIE IS NOT FOR EVERYONE, GRAPHIC TORTURE, AND DISTURBING VIOLENCE. I also thought that this movie would be more like EVIL DEAD... you know, a little campy, and a little funny...wear you could route for the bad guys, because it was fun. This movie was not like that...I actually almost got up and walked out...
Also, You know how when you watch a scary movie and sometimes at the end, you want to route for the victims, and have one of the killers or psycho people offed? well, it didn't happen.
The movie was very moody, and I was very disappointed to say the least. I do not have a week stomach, but I don't think I could sit through it again. I usually don't get grossed out ever...but, felt a very sickened! This movie should have never been made... no wonder other countries hate us, look at this piece of ... entertainment. No plot, people being killed and mutilated is not entertainment, I almost felt less humane after seeing it. I wanted to save those poor kids... Can you imagine how you would feel if you were the Dad who found his daughter hung up in a house, still alive and cut up with razors and mutalated while she was still alive and hanging there. SHAME ON YOU ROB ZOMBIE!!!!

Summary: High Camp, Twisted, Not for Everyone.
Review: I just saw House last night. I firmly believe that it will be thought brilliant or total garbage. Anyone familiar with Fulci, Argento, Bava, and other 70's Italian gore flicks will probably like this flick. The basic synopsis:
4 kids on a road trip, looking for strange exotic places, arrive late one night at 'Captain Spaulding's Museum,' seemingly an amature freak gallery, with things like 'Alligator Boy' and so on.
The curator/owner, Captain Spaulding, is played by Sid Haig, who steals almost every scene he is in, takes the kids on the museum tour known as the Murder Ride. The following is campy and funny if your watching (make sure to catch the existentialist joke with the skeleton in the graveyard). After the tour, which featured a local legend, Dr. Satan, who did nasty things to mental patients, and was hung by the local populous, only to disappear, never to be found again. The kids ask for directions. They get them. What they find is not Satan's tree, but a family of psychopathic lunatics (great performance of MOM by Karen Black/AKA "Stiffler's Mom), who set upon them with delight and gusto not seen since Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It's a horror movie, so you can guess what happens. What followes is a lot of interesting editing, sort of shooting for atmosphere as opposed to "boo" tactics, though it has it's fair share. For you film buffs, Note the use of rapid light changes, showing fluctuation in mood, internal conflict. Also note, how the 'video' sections are used to make the audience uncomfortable, and during scenes of particularly nasty violence, how this technique is used as a buffer between the act and the viewer. This movie is definately NOT something you will have seen before. Imagine a horror movie, like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, where brief clips and images (like in 'The Ring') are interspersed in the film and used as buffers, transitions, and subconcious tweaking of the audience. The plot: simple. The dialogue: bad. The Cinematography: Interesting. Overall product: Fascinating, Funny, and mildly Disturbing. Think Texas Chainsaw, directed by Rob Zombie. NOTE: The film is obviously cut down, violence wise, and feels incomplete and jerky. Even so, it is quite violent and bloody, violence intended to harm physically and mentally. Adult language is pervasive, beyond Pulp Fiction or Big Lebowski. Nudity/Sexuality, some, quite a bit in the interspersed clips. FINAL: If you laugh at movies like TCM or Friday 13th, or NOES,go see this movie, you will not be disappointed. It was great in a wierd way. RATING (Out of 5):(horror lovers) 4.5

Summary: Rob, Please make more horror movies
Review: I have always loved Rob Zombie's music, and I have always loved horror movies. Once I heard he was making a horror movie, I knew it was going to be [messed] up...I like his Directing style, it's not like a normal movie. I wasn't scared, but I mean I'm use to [it.] It was up to my violent standards, and I was surprised nobody got up and left the theater. What I really liked was that it didn't have the typical ending. Good didn't triumph over evil, Evil triumphed over good. In the end I just have to say, if you ain't into bloody movies, then don't see it.
