Summary: Rob Zombie is a genius!!!
Review: If you're going to watch this movie, I hope you are a Rob Zombie fan. If you've never listened to his music or don't know much about him, you probably won't get very far with this movie. If you *are* a Zombie fan, you already know the music and can get the movie!!!!

I really liked this movie! It was so freaking weird and it was Zombie through and through!!!! I don't really know how to explain how I felt. It was more a freaked out feeling than a "scared" feeling. Every time I see that darn clown though, I can't get him out of my head.

It's one of those movies that if you think about it or see something about it, you start thinking of different parts of the movie and they replay till you are freaked out again.

Or maybe I'm insane!!! :)

Summary: Trash.
Review: One word can describe this movie. Trash. My parents wasted their money renting this movie for me. This movie had to have had the worst plot i've ever seen. Take it from me, don't waste your money with this movie. Its trash.

Summary: It's not a 5-star or a 1-star movie....
Review: ....If it were a 5-star movie, where would these people put The Wizard of Oz, Citizen Kane, and The Godfather????? Anyway, this wasn't horrible either. It certainly doesn't deserve the 1-star ratings I see the other end of the spectrum giving it. It falls squarely in the middle.

The story itself is ripped off from Texas Chainsaw Massacre (inbred family in a deserted farmhouse, obligatory hitchhiker that starts the whole thing off, whackos wearing the skin of victims, the survivor getting picked up on the road just outside the house, etc.). The good thing is that the "teens" are really obnoxious and you actually are hoping they get killed (especially the annoying girls).

The visuals are a stand-out, reminiscent of Gregg Araki's earlier work with video and old creepy film clips thrown in. The scenes are lit not unlike Pee Wee's Big Adventure. And there is a perverse/macabre humor that makes the movie more than an exercise in endurance. And the appearance of Karen Black in ANY movie gives it a certain cult cred. The music isn't bad either.

But this is no masterpiece. I don't understand why it was so difficult for the various studios to let this loose on the public due to the gore, as it seemed fairly mundane stuff to me. I get the feeling even Rob held back--the torture scenes are shot erratically and unclearly at best. This was somewhat frustrating, as I had expected these scenes to be truly horrifying due to all the controversy surrouding this film.

It's a fun trip, if you're into the horror genre. Like I said, the visuals will satisfy those with a psychadelic bent. But don't expect to be truly horrified....There is nothing new here, and the ending was somewhat confusing, and therefore somewhat dissatisfying.

Summary: Title says all
Review: Two ill-fated couples travelling across the American country side stop at the off-beat Captain Spaulding's Museum of Monsters and Madmen and learn of the local legend of Dr. Satan. This ultimately leads them to become prisoners at a house full of murderous crazies. Directed by death-metal rocker Rob Zombie, he shows an obvious soft spot for horror films with his consistant homages to genre classics (most noteably THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE), but there isn't a scare to be found, only a showcase of typically expected gore and a flavour of twisted black humour. Most of the fun is saved for the end climax, by then things get really sick! Zombie's insertion of old-fashion film clips quickly becomes monotonous.

Summary: Waste of Time, Money
Review: I made the mistake of ordering this film on Pay Per View during the Halloween season knowing that it would most likely be a bad horror movie. As someone who likes this genre of film (most times, even the really bad ones), I was extremely dissapointed in this movie. I don't mind a bad horror movie now and then, but this was god awful.

The movie plays on everyones ultimate fear, the rednecks living off the beaten path. I am not sure if the director thought he was being artistic (he failed), but there is a lot of that annoying camera work and use of filters that was just annoying.

The gore was vivid, but just senseless. There was so much gore for gores sake that it wasn't even scary. Even the T&A seemed forced and boring.

I like movies that have an element of everyday situations where you really feel like this could happen to you. The victims in this case were such morons that I actually was hoping they died. It is good to have a likable victim so you actually don't want to see them diced up or hope they escape. Not in this case, I probably would have killed the four morons in the car immediately.

Everything that was redeeming was so obviously ripped off from better movies, nothing original here. I am honestly shocked that there aren't more negative reviews on amazon.

Summary: All American Horror
Review: I just finished watching Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses for the fourth time and was once again amazed by just how good a movie it is; amazed enough to write a review. I remember seeing this in the theater a few weeks after its initial release. The few people that were in the audience walked out of the movie either completely traumatized or screaming like a bunch of demented Kiss fans. There hasn't been a true horror movie like this made in years. What has passed for horror over the last decade has either been gory Clearasil commercials (Scream and its clones) or ghosts-just-need-to-be-understood melodramas (the godawful Sixth Sense and its clones). It seems movie makers have forgotten that horror needs to be horrific. House of 1000 Corpses is not a perfect horror movie. It doesn't even come close to the terror induced by a movie like the Shining. However, it is one of the few horror movies out there that has what you could call a "vision". Rob Zombie took a generic plot (actually, he just stole it from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and beefed it up with some of the best mix of imagery, sound and emotion ever put into a horror flick. This movie didn't give me nightmares, but the images did linger in my mind for weeks after first seeing it. It is filled with an insane amount of detail that really holds up after repeated viewings. What seperates a good horror flick from a great one is atmosphere and this movie has it in spades. Every set from Spaulding's road side attraction to the lair of Dr. Satan reinforces the sense that we, the viewer, have come for a freak show and by God we are going to get it! This movie comes from a long tradition of disturbing and shocking movies that may not make you scream but are guranteed to get under your skin. In it you will find none of the elements that ruin modern horror: there are no digital images, there is no polished dialogue with clever refrences to other, better movies and the killers are about as far away from glamourous as you can get. What this movie does have is an incredible sense of artistry, an excellent pace, great camerawork and a complete disregard for good taste or moral boundaries. The villains embody everything that is disturbing about evil. They hate you, they'll hurt you and hurting you gets them off. The only way I could think of improving the movie would be to make the victims a bit more sympathetic. Excessive character development isn't necessary in a horror movie but I think that I would feel an even greater fear if I like the victims. The victims in this movie are complete jackasses and I almost enjoyed seeing them suffer. I think a villain is nastier if he preys not only on innocence, but on likeable, attractive innocence. This minor gripe doesn't ruin the movie though. I highly recommend seeing this movie, especially if you plan on watching it with someone easily offended....you'll have a field day trying to calm them down. Word around the campfire says that the sequel will pit the depraved Firefly clan against a new set of villains, hopefully nastier than them. I can't wait.

Summary: I never stopped laughing, this movie is great
Review: This movie is hilarious, what a wonderful script and the character casting is perfect from the stereotypical 70's scifi dorks who always get slaughtered, to the comical killer clown selling fried chicken and gasoline (that guy is so funny). I even liked the T-shirts with funny slogans on them.

But for a horror film, it wasn't scary what so ever. It did have some awesome costume design and a great sadistic conclusion. But it was more funny than scarry.

Summary: Best Horror Movie of late
Review: House of 1000 Corpses is by far the best horror movie to come out recently. It's filled with classic horror movie motifs: evil clowns, zombies, canabalism, satanism, rednecks and a good dose of psycho-sexual blood letting. To anyone who's confused: this is not meant to be a 'classy' or 'intelligent' movie, its entertainment, pure and simple. The plot line is simple, it's supposed to be shocking and bloody, not thought provoking and profound.

House of 1000 Corpses harks back to the 'golden days' of horror movies: exploitation, over the top special effects, characters that are far from realistic and a good bit of humor to boot. Zombie does a great job of utilizing these elements in a sort of modernized homage to the grotesque .

Come to think of it, I actually could have used more Satanism, cannabalism and zombie action but all in all this is a great movie.

Summary: God awful blood vehicle
Review: Zombie attempts to glamorize his gore-fest by saying it's a tribute to '70's horror flicks, but the movie is the trashiest, most god awful waste of film I've ever seen. I regret even thinking Zombie had made a decent film.
