Rating: Summary: HAPPY DEATH DAY, JASON! Review: This is a great moment in Friday the 13th. It's also the saddest moment! Because it's Jason's death day! The plot is as good as is possible with this type of film. The actors are really good, including Crispin(Back to the Future)Glover, and Corey Feldman. The heroine, the lovely Kimberly Beck is great and adorable, not to mention spunky. The soundtrack is very spooky and well done(good job Harry!). And Ted White is fabulous as Jason Voorhees. Tom Savini's makeup fx are great, or atleast the ones that the dreaded MPAA didn't censor anyway! This film is funny and interesting and scary in a funhouse way. It's perfect to be viewed by a group of people together for the first time. The ending is tragic but also great. It's tragedy is that the late great Jason Voorhees is finally and permanetly killed! But it's great because his death leads to the return of his ghost in the best film in the series, Friday the 13th Part 5 A New Beginning!
Rating: Summary: rent it before you buy it Review: The only reason I would think that someone would look at the reviews for a Friday the 13th movie is that they haven't seen it. If you are one of those individuals that haven't viewed this movie, then please go to blockbuster, hollywood video, videotime, or what ever other video rental store you go to and rent this movie and the rest of the series. Why? Because the Friday the 13th series is not for everyone. The DVD doesn't have many extras, mostly just trailers and commentary, so if you buy DVDs for the extras, and not the exellecent audio and picture, buy the VHS version.
Rating: Summary: Finally a good sequel for Friday the 13th Review: Chapter four was the best sequel of Friday the 13th series since it began. The original was very good and impressive, Part 2 was stupid and boring(The only good thing was that the killer was Jason).Part 3 was better, but still dumb(But we got the hockey mask). After Part 3 murders, Jason is taken to the morgue.Of course he's not dead.So he scapes and goes back to Camp Cristal Lake.Near the camp, lives a family: The Jarvis. And across te Jarvis, lives a group of teenagers trying to have fun.Guess what is going to happen?, YES, Jason is going to kill them. What I really enjoyed here, was the creative and original deads. They were funny and scary at the same time.In my opinion the best dead was Axel's, the morgue doctor. But Tina's was cool too, it was very well done. The main character was Trish, a nice girl. Her brother Tommy, was a horror fan, he made his own scary halloween masks and liked blood. This is not the final chapter as it's called. We still got 6 more sequels to go.But this was one of the best. FINAL GRADE: C+
Rating: Summary: Funny and Scary at the same time Review: This was such a great movie.I saw this movie at the theater when it came out in 1984.There were so many great scenes I don't know where to begin. When Axel and the nurse are making out and Jason's arm falls down and he jumps up and starts freaking out was hilarious.Ted was so funny throughout the entire movie he had me laughing every scene he was in.He had so many great quotes. He was the only person I didn't want to see get killed.Jimbo was the dork who lucked out and got the pretty girl. But then he gets killed by having a corkscrew slammed on his hand and getting a machete in the face.( a very funny murder scene)Then Paul goes looking for his girlfriend and gets a spear shoved in his groin!! OUCH!! Jason showed enormous feats of strengh in this movie that made him very menacing and scary. This movie has the whole package, gory murders, great one-liners,hot looking girls.Every female in this movie is hot. Buy this!!
Rating: Summary: Friday the 13th IV: The 6th to the Final Chapter(so far!) Review: Yes, a good sequel, could have been better, but good! It stars Kimberly Beck, Corey Feldman, and Crispen Glover(McFly?). It has Jason who comes back and macho [angry]. He attacks campers and the Jarvis family who comes to visit. Jason ends up in a battle with youngster Tommy(Corey Feldman) and his sister Trish(Kimbely Beck). One of the best Friday sequels(Jason Lives was the best) is here and I recommend it for Horror fans!
Rating: Summary: It should have been anyway... Review: This has got to be my favorite of the whole series. This was the end of the era when Jason was more "human" I guess you could say. Up till now, Jason ran after his victims, groaned in pain when attacked, pretended to be dead, made mistakes. This was before he became a robot from Part 6 to present day. I've always found Jason's deformed, retarded look much creepier than his many rotted zombie looks(although he looked great in Part 7). He is also pretty sadistic in this one. He always was, but he's got a nasty sense of humor now, and he's obviously in a much worse mood. Right in the beginning he kills the accident prone guy from the Police Academy movies by slitting his throat with a hack saw, then just decides to twist his entire head around. Great stuff, I had to rewind it numerous times. Same with the corkscrew thing; That has got to be the funniest moment of the whole series! This shows Jason really does have a sense of humor. And that was Crispin Glover who is always a joy to watch. The only silly thing about this one is the whole shaving of the head to look like Jason crap. What inspired him to even think of doing that? If I were looking at Jason news clippings, my first instinct wouldn't be to shave my head and say, "remember me, Jason? Jason, don't you remember?" Remember what? Jason should have said, "Yeah! You're Corey Feldman, ain't ya? Loved you in Gremlins!" This one plays it a little tricky too by giving you two characters that might make it out alive: Sister Trish and virgin Sara. Well, as soon as Sara gives in to her desires, she's immediately axed, so we're rootin for Trish the rest of the way(and she's a pretty badass lady in comparisson to the other ones in the series). So, this is the one that ended an era. The title isn't too far off in this respect because Jason actually dies at the end of this film. A few years later he'd be resurrected and take on a whole new personality and look. So, if you want any of these films in your collection, 1 through 4 are essential.
Rating: Summary: FRIDAY THE 13TH - THE FINAL CHAPTER MONO SOUND AGAIN Review: AGAIN NO 5.1 SOUND NO SPECIAL FEATURES JUST A THEATRICAL TRAILER AND THATS IT BUT THIS IS STILL A GOOD FILM THE MASTER OF HORROR EFFECTS TOM SAVINI YOU KNOW WIN YOU SEE THIS NAME IT'S A GOOD DISTURBING FUN FILM I LOVE IT BUT PARAMOUNT STILL MISTREATS FRIDAY THE 13TH FILMS IT'S JUST SIMPLY WRONG
Rating: Summary: The Infamous Part 4!!!! Review: THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL END TO THE SERIES WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT END.IT HAS THE USUAL SEX CRAZED TEENAGERS GETTING HOCKED OFF BY MY FAV JASON.BUY IT NOW IT'S A GREAT MOVIE
Rating: Summary: BORING! Review: Obviously I didn't like the movie, but the film is pritty dull and the plotline is very empty. It makes you just want to fast forward to the death scenes(it's that bad!)Although I did think the ending was "cool". Only for serious fans of the Friday the 13th movies!
Rating: Summary: "Hey Ted, where's the corkscrew?" Review: This may have probably been the most anticipated of the Friday sequels as it promised to be "The Final Chapter" in which Jason finally got his. Of course, once Paramount counted the box office bucks they realized they'd be fools to kill the franchise. This may also be the most "star-studded" of the Friday films, featuring not one but 2(!) recognizable actors. Corey Feldman, he of future Goonies and Stand by Me fame appears as Tommy Jarvis, who is also the most recurring main character in the series. (Part V, "A New Beginning" and Part VI, "Jason Live" both continue his story). We also get Crispin Glover of Back to the Future (McFly(!)) and The River's Edge. Glover provides perhaps the best reason to see this film, and that is his dancing. More on that later. The movie picks up right after Part 3 with Jason being carted off to the morgue along with the rest of the cast of that film. We're immediately introduced to an obnoxious doctor who you just know is going to be the first victim. And, as Jason somehow walks out of the cold storage drawer, he gets it with the surgical saw along with his nurse friend. Jason then presumably walks out of the hospital and makes his way back to the Crystal Lake area where--ta da!--another group of young and very stupid vacationers (not even camp counselors) is headed. Jason even manages to take out a hitchhiker on his walk home. This movie attempts to add a few more story elements to the formula, including a guy who is out camping by himself. Turns out the guy is seeking revenge for the death of his sister at the hands of Jason. We get the happy family of Jarvis, pretty sister Trish, and mom. We also get plenty of murders. Of course, yet again, the blood and gore had to be cut by the filmmakers in order to secure an R rating. It's still gory, but nowhere near as it should have been. Even though the bulk of the film takes place the day after the murders in Part 3, NO ONE here has heard anything about it, even though they live and vacation on the same lake(!) All the better for Jason to crush a guy's head, throw a girl out the window, spear-gun a couple of others, axe a girl nicely, corkscrew and then cleave someone else, etc. And of course, no one hears anything strange going on while they try and hook up. (I would think you'd hear someone being thrown through an upstairs window, but hey, that's me). Then we get all psychological again by having the young Tommy try to fool Jason. While his sister is being chased around by the machete-wielding maniac, Tommy shaves his head upstairs and in what I'm guessing is some weird attempt to look like the young Jason. He confronts the killer and confuses him. This stalls things long enough for Trish to deliver the death blow. The payoff is makeup master Tom Savini's great machete-in-head effect! Savini agreed to do this film since it involved killing off Jason and he'd been there on the original film. Nice effect, quite grisly. Then of course we get the twist at the end for yet another sequel. All in all, a very dependable entry in the series. Exactly what you're looking for. As a film, it's complete garbage. As a Friday movie, it's quite good. As for Crispin Glover, his dancing is worth the price of this DVD alone. Trying to impress a girl, Glover spins a very, very cheesy 80s metal record that I would love to know the name of. Watch in jaw-dropping horror as Glover contorts and spasms like he has bottle rockets in his pants. Watch it on DVD slow-mo and you can study these intricate moves. As usual, we get shafted in the extras department. A trailer, that's it. To be honest, it's an extremely cheesy trailer. ("He doesn't even seem to breathe!") The picture is much better than I've ever seen, and the sound is okay, not great. I would recommend this film for fans, but I'll mention that the DVD is underwhelming. However, if you're really tired of that old VHS copy, pick it up. Oh, and try to do so before they reissue it with one of those awful cover art pictures that they're putting on the Friday releases now. And yes, this film does actually feature the line, "Hey Ted, where's the corkscrew?"
