Rating: Summary: awesome Review: THE WORLD HAS BEEN SAVED. A GREAT SCARY MOVIE FOR EVERYONE WHO IS ANYONE. BRAVO.
Rating: Summary: One Of The Best Review: This movie has a lot of gore in it but thats not all it has going for it the director obviously put a lot of thought into the storyline. We are introduced to this idea that a cruise ship in the 1950's just disappeared and noone ever found it. Now in present day the ship is found adrift by a pilot. A salvage crew goes out in order to pull the ship in and make a lot of money off it. What they don't realize is that the ship has some plans of it's own for them. This story has an excellent twist to it and when you hear the little girl ghost say "let me show you something" you had better sit back and enjoy the ride. An excellent movie overall it also has some awesome extra features on the DVD, be sure to check them out.
Rating: Summary: G. Mike's Review on Ghost Ship Review: In my opinion, Ghost Ship was a very scary movie. It features a creepy atmosphere (the ship itself) and good characters. Most of the characters were fine with me, except for Santos, who kept talking to a picture of his car (Don't ask me!). There is a lot of blood and gore in this movie. I don't mind gore, but the beginning scene sent shivers down my spine when I saw it. Here's the plot.In 1962, an ocean liner, Antonia Graza is having a party. Everyone is dancing and singing on the dance floor. Out of nowhere, a cord comes whipping around and cuts through everyone. (We actually see the people being slowly ripped to shreds and falling apart!). One girl (small enough I guess) missed the cord and survived. Forty Years Later A salvage crew led by Gabriel Byrne is told of a boat drifting in the ocean (this, of course, is the Antonia Graza). The crew decides that with the ship's past it must be worth a fortune. They find the Antonia Graza and things begin to happen. A shipmate keeps seeing a girl walking around everywhere. Toys begin to move around. Ice is still found in a drink. Finally, our group finds gold and decides to leave the boat with the stash. Just after that, their boat explodes, killing one of them, and leaving the others on the Antonia Graza. From there, we actually see more ghosts. And they just kill the people. Our female shipmate (I think her name was Julie) finds the little girl. The little girl takes her back in time and shows her what happened on that horrific night (the whipping cord). Julie finally discovers that it wasn't an accident and one of her shipmates is an enemy. But who? Why? That's all for you to find out. My Review: Plot - I liked the plot. I thought it was a cool idea. Sure, it was a bit cliche, but who cares. I loved it! Plot - 94 Acting - I liked the characters, but as I said, I disliked Santos. He seemed like he wasn't even in the story. He just talked to his car. He didn't really react to the other characters. Acting - 87 Killings and Gore - There are about 5 killings in this movie with the main crew. In all, I think 50 people die. There is some good killings and others are okay. There is a lot of gore though. The first scene, as I said, will make you cringe. Killings - 95/BEST KILLING = man gets crunched in a turning wheel Gore - 92 Ending - The ending was really good. It was a surprise ending! I don't know if they will make a sequel though. Mabye... Ending - 94 DVD or Video - Get the DVD. Just get it. It has a lot of extras and the picture is so much clearer. Trust me! DVD - 95 Overall - I loved this movie. It had a nice blend of horror, blood, gore, violence, and some dark comedy. So, I recommend you watch it. I still don't know what movie is better though. Th13een Ghosts or Ghost Ship? I think I need to see both again. Watch Th13een Ghosts also after Ghost Ship! Overall - 93/ A great movie! G. Mike
Rating: Summary: The opening Scene Review: Well I watched this film on the pure fact that my friend threatened death if i did not go with him. Anyway the film starts out looking very 50's looking and we were just kinda looking at each other thinking "what the ****" then all hell breaks looses and the rest is history. We came out feeling truly entertained and would recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Cliche' horror film that's not convincing... Review: If you've seen the movie, you'll know what I'm about to describe is the most ridiculous opening to a horror film ever: This movie opens with lightly toned, whimsical music and PINK CALLIGRAPHY opening credits!! I mean, What The Hell? I thought it might be a spoof opening, but it wasn't. I couldn't believe that a horror flick could even TRY and do this. The plot was so-so, but I can't understand why Julianna Marguleise and Gabriel Byrne would have accepted the script? They must have needed the money. Anyway, there were a few cool and new effects and horrific ways to kill folk. I think the most horrifying point of this movie is the overall production.
Rating: Summary: 1 star for the first ten Mintues... Review: This movie was terrible. It was not scary at all. There was no plot to speak of. The only good thing in the movie is a scene with a lot of gore in the first ten mintues or so (don't want to give away what happens). There is a extra of the dvd talking about and showing how they made the gore, etc. The extra is more entaining than the movie was. Do not buy. If you must see it rent it first. You have been warned...

Rating: Summary: Better than I expected !!! Review: I really thought this movie was well put together. It may not be the greatest horror ever but it certainly was entertaining (How do I class entertaining ? You can sit spellbound for an hour and a half without fidgeting). I must say that the picture and sound quality is stunning on the R1 version which I bought. The picture was really detailed considering that most of the movie was shot in low light conditions. The special effects were superb and not overly done. The score was well chosen too. To appreciate the movie to its max though, you need to watch it on a top notch 5.1 hi-fi system. There is a great deal of bonus stuff as well. You should enjoy this movie if you enjoyed House on Haunted Hill ...
Rating: Summary: I don't even know why I liked this movie, but I did. Review: Ghost Ship is one gigantic cliche. The group of people I watched it with had everybody pegged for their fates long before anything happened, but yet, we all still enjoyed it. In a superficial, let's eat popcorn and have a non-cerebral evening type of way, this movie was A LOT of fun. My advice? Don't think too much and just go with it. Ghost Ship will take you for a predicatable thriller ride. It's about a group of people that specialize in recovering shipwrecks and pirating their contents. They learn of a mysterious ship that disappeared back in the 60's and they go seek it out at the recommendation of the newest crewmen. Needless to say, they find it. From there, the story spins out of control - people die, people live, people drown. A couple of interesting points . . . *The first few minutes of the movie get you interested right away. In a macabre, gross, OH MY GAWD THAT DIDN'T JUST HAPPEN sort of way, the opening scene sets the whole mood. *There are quite a few scenes reminiscent of Kubrick's The Shining (my friends and I kept screaming, "Don't do it Jack!") I'm not sure if it's a style thing or a plot thing or both, but Gabriel Byrne's character was a throwback to Jack Torrance. One way or another, the script writer and director had some inspiration. *Ghost Ship has one of the BEST action/horror sequences I've seen in years. The little girl onboard is helping Julianna Margulies' character, and she 'shows' her what made the ship go all spooky-like. It's a solid few minutes of gore, but it's intense and the soundtrack is perfectly played in time to the actions. We squealed, we laughed, we winced. It was great - the highlight of the entire movie. So all in all, I liked this. Yes, I know I shouldn't have, but I did. It's not the highest quality thing you've ever seen - not even close - but for a no-brainer, this fits the bill perfectly. Happy Viewing!
Rating: Summary: Not bad, but it's not really about the ship Review: There's enough reviews here that talk about the story in a lot of detail, so I won't go there. But the thing is, it's not really about the ship. The commercials, and some reviews make it sound like it's an evil haunted ship. Well, that's the half of it. Who's controlling what happens on the ship? Is it the ship itself, or the hanuted people on board, or maybe the devil? Basically, a ship that was lost some 40+ years before is found abandoned and (somehow) still floating in the bearing straight. As soon as they get on the ship wierd things start happening. What's frustrating here is the lack of characters ability to notice that something isn't quite right. Even when they notice wierd things, they keep it to themselves for the most part, which isn't very realistic. The movie wasn't what I thought it'd be about, which I think just about everybody who sees it will agree. It was more like a sea-dwelling "Event Horizon" then anything. ...). If you liked ghost ship, you may like Event Horizon, but yet I digress. So, in the very end of the movie everything makes sense. I won't give it away, cause although I thought the movie wasn't so great, and that it dragged on, I really got a kick out of the very last 10-15 seconds of the movie. It's funny how one image can make it all make sense. Now, if they could have only made the rest of the movie that interesting. There really isn't a lot of horror in this movie. The beginning 5 minutes is the grossest part, and from then on, it's pretty much PG-13 if I remember correctly, other than some [breasts]. Now, for those who have actually seen this, this section of my review will make more sense then for those who haven't. I'm not sure the point of the beginning scene. I mean, if you wanted to kill a bunch of people all at once, and you actually had a bunch of guys with machine guns, wouldn't you just line them up and mow them down, what's the deal with the dramatic "death trap" device? Seems kind of far-fetched to me. Seems like an awful lot of trouble. Not that I'm an expert in killing mass amounts of people all at once. :) So anyways, if it wasn't for that last 10-15 seconds, which are brilliant, I'd rate this a 2 star cause the movie is long, doesn't have a lot of action or horror, and doesn't really get to the point until the very last seconds. I don't think they set this up for a sequal like some have speculated, but rather the final seconds explain really how everything works. So, a good renter, but I would have been upset had I paid to see this in a theater.
