Summary: Howlingly Good
Review: Dont let the snobs of filmdom keep you from enjoying this frantic, fast paced contribution to Lycanthrope cinema. I had to take a cigarette break every half hour to catch my breath. I always thought the four legged American Werewolfs in London/Paris were good but too cutsey. The Howling brought back the Bi-pedal stalking, thinking and plotting Werewolf killing machine that we love. And Dog Soldiers seems almost like a sequel once removed if you imagine that some of those who escaped the burning barn in The Howling have moved to the wilds of the Scottish countryside to practice their "Gift" there.Get it and you wont be dissapointed, but you might be a little scared.

Summary: The best horror film in years.
Review: This is one of the best Horror/ sci-fi / action films I have seen this year, it is also the goriest one out there (not that gory, but gory enough to be called gory). The best thing about it is there is no CGI or any thing dumb like that. Does have a good but not original story line (even the cover says it copies JAWS, ALIENS and PREDATOR, but they are all films I like so who cares any way). The story line is a lot like ZULU meets NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD meets THE HOWLING. Too bad a good film like this ended up premiering on the sci-fi channel, not the big screen. 2001. Summary: Move over American Werewolf in London
Review: I had the opportunity to see this flick on the big screen during a 24-hour horror movie marathon in October, and it was by far the gem of the lineup. Produced by Christopher Figg (of Hellraiser fame), this is the best werewolf movie I have seen since the days of American Werewolf in London and The Howling. A British-based film that aired on the Sci-Fi Channel, the movie involves a band of soldiers practicing war games in the Scottish wilderness, only to come across a special ops agent and what remains of his team and camp. What follows is a brilliant piece of moviemaking that pits the soldiers against werewolves peppered with great acting, excellent one-liners and plot twists that will have you guessing throughout the film. It's definitely a "kick-butt" kind of film with non-stop action that had 300 people in the theater on the edge of their seats and howling for more. And if you like gore, there's plenty to go around. Most of the cast is relatively unknowns, although viewers may recognize Sean Pertwee, who played in such films as Soldier and Event Horizon. Dog Soldiers comes through as a refreshing change to a genre that has seen its recent share of humdrum, repetitive horror films, lacking any style or creativity. I couldn't wait until this baby was released on DVD.

Summary: The Best Werewolf Film in Ages...
Review: "Dog Soldiers" is, quite simply, a fantastic film. Given its European origins, it is quite possible you may never have heard of it - and if that keeps you from watching, you are making a grave mistake, particularly if you are a fan of "creature features" and horror films. "Dog Soldiers" is so good, it feels like a throwback to a bygone era of horror film (and is reminiscent of films like "Evil Dead," "Predator," "Aliens," and "Silver Bullet"). It is soaked in gore and horror film ambience, but packs more than its share of action and suspense, and some great comedic moments as well. What's more, you will actually grow to care about the film's characters, which is a great deal more than can be said for much of today's substandard travesties. Being also an avid fan of werewolves in particular, "Dog Soldiers" delivers some new twists on this classic beastie, but also maintains much of the beloved mythos as well. If you're even remotely interested in films like this, do yourself a solid and make "Dog Soldiers" a number one priority. You'll laugh, you'll cringe, and you'll have bloody good fun until the final frame fades away into blackness. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Summary: Cool, moody film that isn't typical for genre
Review: Dog Soldiers is a movie that provides us with a fresh take on werewolves. It is a British (or rather UK) movie and it really shows in the scripting and the character development - in other words they are far better than your usual fare. And...this is a scary film! Rather than a bunch of half-witted nubile young women with failing ankles, the potential victims here are virile British soldiers who have been participating in routine war games with another unit. While "gaming" they stumble across a massacred "special ops" squadron - but massacred by what/whom? Only one member of the squadron lives - and he isn't divulging his operation's objective. No matter, the werewolves are promptly on their tail! And these are some seriously menacing looking werewolves. Not only is there one, but rather a whole pack of them. The soldiers have the guns and their wits and human intellect, but they just can't get their minds around the concept of "werewolves" until they see them up close. Only a British film would maintain the utmost in gentility in the face of raw fear and horror by having the troops fix a pot of tea to calm their nerves (in an American film, it would have been a bottle of whiskey passed around - how uncouth!). This is a very visual and all around sensory film that is well made and well acted and well presented. It is, quite often, gory and also frequently peppered with expletives - but never as much as any American film would do. Watch this film alone and at night at your own risk.

Summary: A New Cult Film has been born
Review: As an avid fan of sci-fi and Horror movies its great to see a new movie from Great Britain that in my opinion will gain cult status around the globe. The best werewolf movie ever made. Whats amazing with this film that it was made on a fraction of the cost of one of the Hollywood blockbusters that has been made over the last few years yet matches them for enjoyment and the feeling that I must add this movie to my collection after seeing it at the movies.

Summary: A horror fan's horror movie
Review: I was really surprised that SCIFI would have the guts to show anything this good, especially when their idea of new horror rarely goes beyond CARRIE 2 and other assorted teen garbage. DOG SOLDIERS is stylish, very gory, very funny, and filled with a creepy atmosphere. It's an original mix of classic tropes from other horror movies, and the FX are superb. These are some of the coolest-looking werewolves I've seen since THE HOWLING. The cast is great, especially Kevin McKidd (Tommy from TRAINSPOTTING) and Sean Pertwee (Smith from EVENT HORIZON). I watched this movie practically every time it aired on TV, and its great to see it without interruptions and even less edited for content.

Summary: Avoid at all costs
Review: This has to be on of the worst movies of all time. the acting is really bad, the special effects are hardly special and the plot looks like it is being made up as you look on. I've wasted many hours of my life watching bad movies but this one is really up there with the likes of Bulletproof (the Gary Busey one) for the title of worst movie ever. At least Bulletproof was entertaining and watchable, this movie just isn't. you have to ask yourself not only how did this movie ever get made but why did the writer even bother to finish it. It would have been better for everyone if the writer had just torn the first draft up and become a raod sweeper.

Summary: Hoooooooowling good time
Review: ***Possible spoilers*** This is by far THE best werewolf movie I've ever seen, and I've seen them all (put it down to a lifelong fascination with lycanthropy). Most werewolf movies have left me frustrated and disappointed (the other two personally likeable ones being "An American Werewolf In London" and "An American Werewolf in Paris"), and wanting better. So, it was with more than a little skepticism that I watched this movie for the first time when it premiered on the Sci-Fi Channel. By the looks of it, they didn't cut much out of it (far less "editing" than the networks would have done to it, anyway). And I was very nicely surprised by what I saw: superb acting ("Spoon" rules!!!), a well-put-together story, and over-the-top special effects make-up. The werewolves in it actually LOOK like werewolves -- not werebears like the one in "An American Werewolf In London". I've seen numerous critiques on this movie where the people complain that it's "too gory" or "overly gruesome", etc. Well, guess what, gang -- it's a WEREWOLF movie; it's supposed to be gruesome. In fact, that's been the major problem with most of the werewolf movies out there: they're not gruesome enough, and it renders the movie unrealistic, given the "nature of the beast". If you want to watch a canine movie with no gore or violence, go rent "Benji". I HIGHLY recommend this movie to all horror movie buffs, especially lycanthrope lovers.

Summary: Solid & Suspenseful Werewolf Flick
Review: When I first saw the commercial for this movie on the Sci-Fi channel, I laughed out loud at the title. "Dog Soldiers", what the ...?!! But then I actually watched the film, and I was blown away by what I had seen. This could be, with the obvious exception of "The Howling," one of the best werewolf films ever made. I love the fact that it takes place outside of the U.S., and that the heroes of the film have such strong accents.... The film is quite entertaining, and very well produced. It was ultra-violent, and I was shocked that they were able to show it on American TV with only a TV-14 rating...its a TV-MA at the very least. A fine film from start to finish...and some of the coolest looking werewolves I have seen. Kudos to putting this out on DVD. A must have for fans of films like "Aliens," "Predator," "The Keep," and of course "The Howling." A true diamond in the rough. A ultra-violent, murky, dreary, thrill-a-minute ride that slipped under the radar, and will hopefully take the world by storm on DVD.
