Rating: Summary: A surreal, scary and grotesque masterpiece.A classic. A 10.A+ Review: Despite the junky sequels, Nightmare On Elm Street will haunt your dreams. Its gory and surreal. The images accomplish the nearly impossible feat of looking exactly like something out of your dreams.Although it would have been even scarier if they had Freddy kill someone in a cemetary(cemataries and corpses rising from the grave are my biggest phobias)it really accomplishes the goal of being scary and haunting. I had to watch Ren And Stimpy to humour myself up so as not to have bad dreams after watching this movie but a couple nights later the infamous Kruger haunted one of my dreams. Its a good thing that its impossible in real life to get killed from having a bad dream. This is unforgettable and ranks right up there with Texas Chainsaw Massacre,Night Of The Living Dead,The Exorcist,The Shining and It(the book not the movie).
Rating: Summary: The beginning of your nightmares! Review: This is the first Nightmare on Elm Street and it rocks! How many people out there have been scared by Freddy? Millions! In the movie Freddy attacks you in your dreams, and he makes your life miserable. I first watched this movie when I was seven and it scared the living daylight out of me! Ofcourse going to sleep is hard after you watch this movie cause you think Freddy is after you, and he is.... nah, Im just kidding. So anyways, if you want to enjoy a good movie, A Nightmare on Elm Street is the one, I mean, look at all the sequels it has, its a great flick!
Rating: Summary: Freddy ROCKS!!! Review: This is the first in the series, and the best! A very clever idea that Wes Craven thought of! Freddy was based on a bully that picked on Wes in school. I loved the fact that if you die in your dream you die in real life! The cast is pretty good with John Saxon, Heather Langenkamp, and Johnny Depp in his first role! This was a great movie all the way up to the chilling climax!!! Wes Craven did a great job in creating this dream monster that became so popular!!!
Rating: Summary: One Hell of a Horror Movie!!! Review: Even though the sequels to this movie are completely pathetic, A Nightmare on Elm Street is hands down one of the greatest slasher movies of all time! Wes Craven is a genuis! It also has very intense and bone chilling music, which is a big part of scary movies!!!
Rating: Summary: whatever you do, don't fall asleep Review: The movie that started it all. A child killer freed on a technicality it burned to death by the parents of Springwood. Now he is after all the children in their nightmares. Excellent murder scenes and you can never really tell if Nancy is asleep or awake. Watch this one first, or you will not understand the rest of the series.
Rating: Summary: Freddy, you got love him Review: I really like this movie. It's about a girl, Nancy who starts having nightmares of a hideously burned man with a charred fedora, green and red striped shirt and a deadly, knife-tipped gauntlet. After her friend gets horribly killed by the fiend, everyone assumes it was her boyfriend, who was in the locked bedroom with her when she died. He soon gets arrested, but Nancy has a strange dream during school, in which she bruned her arm, and when she woke up, the burn was on her arm. She later goes to the police station, but sees through a back window, the bruned man go into her friend's cell, but this was all a dream right? Nothing happened to him. Wrong. He's found dead shortly after Nancy wakes up. Nancy presses on, desperately searcing for the answer. And then her mother tells her. Many years, all the parents of Elm Street took the law into their own hands and burned a child murderer to death. This murderer was Nancy's nightmare man, Freddy Krueger. Nancy tells her boyfriend {Johnny Depp} not to go to sleep, and does the same herself. But then Depp goes nap nap, and gets brutally murdered in his bedroom. Nancy instructs her father to wake her up in twenty minutes and goes to slepp, a plan in her head, to pull Krueger out of her dream, and into the real world. She succeeds but not until he kills her mother. Nancy confronts him and sends his vile spirit straight back to hell. But this was all a dream, happy days, until it comes to a very strange ending. Robert Englund did a fantastic job at playing the despicable monster Freddy, and he also managed to reprise the role in the sequels. THe strange ending had a very bad effect in there, and that forced my rating down to four, instead of the fantastic five I was planning to give it. I really want to see the others soon.
Rating: Summary: Real Horror! Review: This is a real horror film! This tells about nightmare that may be real. The nightmares cause real dammage. But you can only see nightmare when you're sleeping. A monster is in the dreams. How to escape when every time you sleep, he is after you. There's good chasing. The end is really horrible too. There's much blood and dead bodies in this film.
Rating: Summary: Horror Fans Will Rave Review: Robert England is an evil mastermind as Freddy Krueger in this killer DVD! The kids of elm street don't know it yet but something is watching them. As night time strikes he comes out to enrage your scariest nightmares, and then you will never wake up again! So what ever you do don't fall asleep!
Rating: Summary: A NIGHTMARE THAT YOU WON'T WISH TO END. Review: The original "A Nightmare On Elm Street" is better than the best moments of all the sequels combined. Also, is the introduction of a charismatic villain: Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund). Director Wes Craven managed to create a surreal horror film, with imaginative situations and creepy atmospheres."A Nightmare On Elm Street" is the story of four teenagers that suddenly are visited on their dreams by a strange guy with a brown hat, black & red sweater, and a gauntlet with razors, that guy is Fred Krueger; one night when the four teenagers fall sleep, Freddy decides to show up for real, and murders Tina (in an incredible sequence, by the way); naturally everybody blames her boyfriend Rod for the crime, so he escapes; but when Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) discovers that the real killer is a spook that inhabits in the dreams, she decides to fight him on his territory: the dreams. Nancy (the cute Heather Langenkamp) is perhaps the best heroine in the horror genre, she is not as dumb or as annoying as most of the girls in the horror films; also we can see the screen debut of Johnny Depp. The atmosphere on the movie is just amazing, thanks to the creepy music and the surreal world that Wes Craven created, and of course we have the charismatic Freddy. After this movie, the sequels were merely spoofs or inferior copies of the original, but this 1984 horror classic remains very effective. After seen "A Nightmare On Elm Street" you will think twice before going to sleep.
