Summary: SALEM'S LOT
Review: I AM WRITING THIS REVIEW IN DEFENSE OF THIS MOVIE.
ANY PERSON (PERSON UNDER 28YRS OLD) WHO HAS WATCHED THIS MOVIE PROBABLY WON'T BE TO IMPRESSED. BUT THINK ABOUT IT!... IT IS 24 YRS OLD AND A BIT OUT OF DATE.. BUT WHEN I SAW THIS MOVIE AT 10YRS OLD IT SCARED ME TO DEATH..... NOW WATCHING HORROR MOVIES OF TODAY'S GENDRE, I WATCH SALEMS LOT AND IT DOES NOT MEASURE UP TO TODAYS' SPECIAL GORE AND EFFECTS, BUT I STILL LOVE IT, THAT WAS YESTERYEAR INNOCENCE, AND YES, IT DOES STILL GIVE ME A CHILL OR TWO. (BUT MY KID LAUGHED HER A** OFF!!) HA.HA!! I HATE WATCHING OLD HORROR FILMS WITH TODAYS YOUTH, THERE SO JADED.

Summary: A Horror Classic
Review: This miniseries works on so many levels. Originally I saw this in black and white on a 12 inch screen back in the 70's. Works well that way too. Extremely well done and atmospheric!

Summary: This Movie Bites
Review: Bad acting, bad directing, bad dialogue, bad cinematography, bad sets, bad lighting, horrible music. It even has bad make-up. This is bad all the way around. Not even campy fun. It is just boring. When the vampire jumps up and they play a very loud minor chord, you know that you are supposed to be frightened... but you just aren't. You just sigh. Amazingly, they managed to write out ALL of the really horrifying and creepy moments from Steven Kings book. Try any other movie. If you want something scary, this ain't it. If you want something entertaining, this ain't it either. It is difficult to describe how bad this movie is. Steven King fans, try the Shining. This just might be the worst movie I've ever seen.

Summary: True Horror!
Review: It's hard to believe that I was just 3yrs old when this aired on tv. I've always heard about this movie but I've never seen it until recently when I purchased the DVD. This film actually scared me without the use of excess gore. It's more so the atmosphere used to create the sleepy town of Salem's Lot. The vampire make up was ahead of it's time. I found myself comparing this movie with Silver Bullet, but I'd have to say that this was a significantly better film. Scared me more than "IT".

Summary: Remarkably memorable even after all these years.
Review: It's been at last 10 years since I've seen Salem's Lot. This is the best story King ever wrote, although there was a time when I thought otherwise. I read his books regualarly up until about 10-15 years ago. However I guess I've changed, and none of his recent stories appeal to me. Strangely even his old stories are unappealing to me now--except for this one. The trouble is I'm not sure if it's more because I've changed or because his writing style has changed. Regardless, this is the only Stephen King dvd I'll ever purchase. The visuals are quite memorable: That menacing master vampire, the town's eerie night scenes, the feral eyes of the newly minted vampires; and perhaps most memorable of all the little-boy vampire with glowing eyes scratching on the window pane outside of his former friend's bedroom window. They managed in the teleplay to sustain a consistent mood and atmosphere. I especially appreciate horror flicks that can still do that, for one's consciousness literally gets immersed in the story--the sign of a good one I think. David Soul was merely adequate in his role and same with the boy. The antagonist was VERY European and seemed believable in his role. The master vampire and pals were, like in the Night Stalker, chilling parasites without any redeeming qualities whatsoever--pure evil incarnate. But in this context that type of evilness works admirably. I suspect they could have cast a better actor than Soul to portray the protagonist. It's hard to get past that "Starsky and Hutch" thing I guess for me at least. So despite some nit-picky literary shortcomings that others have appropriately pointed out, I'm still getting this one. Perhaps I saw this one at just the right age to make the necessary good impression. I wouldn't view this one again as often as some others I have though, but I may view it once or twice a year.

Summary: Scariest Made For TV Movie Ever!!!
Review: All movies are different from the book, however, that doesn't change how much good scary fun is contained in this flick. If you like the genre, get this movie, and cover your neck!!!

Summary: pretty damn scary if you ask me...
Review: can't decide whether it was those kids with glowing white eyes scratching at window panes in the middle of the night... that freakish bald vampire with the two centered fangs... that one female vampire(once housewife) that comes to life within the hospital morgue all blueish and hissing/screaming all the same... or about one of the town vampires rocking away upstairs in one of the vacant rooms with eyes aglow... or the witty gravedigger that decided to jump into the hole he had just dug to re-open the coffin of the boy he had just dropped in... (Imagine his surprise/horror when the boy sat up and hissed in his face with the all too familiar glowing eyes)... even the Marston House itself gave me chills.
BOTTOM LINE: LOCK YOUR WINDOWS - WEAR GARLIC - GET OUT THE CRUCIFIXES/HOLY WATER & ENJOY THE MOVIE... (ONE OF MY FAVORITE HORROR MOVIES TO THIS DAY)

Summary: THE SCARIEST VAMPIRE MOVIE EVER MADE!...
Review: This does have a rather grainy look and some acting is a little hokey, but this movie has a great atmosphere and packs a huge punch, and right now it is the SCARIEST KING MOVIE!... The 2nd scariest king movie is The Shining, ... Yes it is a rather long movie, but its suspense and authentic scares last all the way through. I recommend this movie to anyone in need of a great scare!

Summary: A terrific scare
Review: First aired in 1980, this TV production of the Stephen King best-seller made a smooth transition from book to screen, and it's still a great scare after more than 20 years. Pretty faithful to King's vision of the town cursed by vampirism, there's some pretty good acting, though David Soul is somewhat annoying with a probably unintended self-righteousness. Beyond that, the supporting cast is stellar, from the late James Mason as the villianous protector of "The Master" to the late Lew Ayres and Kenneth McMillan as witnesses to the evil they cannot (nor want) to understand. The real scare, though, is the small town locale in which no one of the townsfolk can escape being affected. There are apparently two versions on the market, one so badly edited (apparently for time considerations) that the continuity is so discontinuous that all we get is a muddled maze. Go for the longer version. It's a great three-hour spook.
