Summary: Pretty bad
Review: This is probably not worth your time. I think it is worse than "The Haunting," which I gave a "C" to. This is more like a "C-" or a "D+." The best part is the beginning at the amusement park. After that, it's all down hill. It has an interesting premise, thanks to the Vincent Price original film, but the execution is particularly bad. It just goes for a shock effect, with plenty of blood and guts to go around. It's very dark, and difficult to make out certain parts. This is not an entertaining film. You'll regret seeing it.

Review: When i went to go see this movie in the cinema, i wasnt expecting much, but when i started watching it really drew me in, it was so much creepier then any of these horror movies released lately and it actually kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through the movie, the only little regret about the movie is in the final scenes, the special effects start to take over and they just arent scary at all!

Review: A shocking, intense, and fairly scary ride, but the ending was a massive dissapointment. If a force was in total contol of the house, wouldn't it simply surround them, rather that chasing them as it does?

Summary: A rough ride with a rather predictable, sweet-n-sour ending
Review: This film follows the odd revenge of a disused psychiatric hospital. Five decendants of former workers of the hospital are mysteriously invited to a funtion at the 'house.' This "found only in films" unlikely bunch of five have the daunting task of staying the night in the house for one million dollars. I had trouble coming to terms with the backgrounds of the owner's of this house-hospital. The owner, a manager of several amusement parks and his wife add confusion to the plot. Will any of the unexpecting guests escape by morning? I think you already know the answer! The bulk of this film sees the house's 'dark energy' play havoc with the guests - and some scenes are candidly gruesome. There should be a health-warning for one scene which features 'strobe light overkill.' Not being a big fan of horror, I probably would recommend this film to any fans of the genre. Its 'scare' rating is average and there's some genuine suspence between the mottley crew of characters. I don't think a viewer's to take this film too seriously. Rather, enjoy the ride! And... excuse the pun.

Summary: Classic Horror Film
Review: This movie kept me on the edge of my seat, all the way from the beginning scene in the asylum where the sadistic doctors are operating on a conscious patient, to the final scene. I will keep it a secret for those who haven't seen the movie. If you love true horror, then this one is for you. I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could. :-)

Summary: Could have been a great modern horror
Review: I had awaited a film that the Times reviewer had called, "so scary I actually had to look away". I didn't look away. It starts so promisingly I was thinking modern horror classic. Unfortunately, producers Joel Silver and Robert Zemickes did not have to courage to see it through. 1931. A glorious art-deco Asylum stands at the top of a hill. We watch as a nurse operates a hand cranked camera. It is trained on an operating table as a doctor operates on a still conscious patient. They notice a growing mass of faces watching from above. They continue the operation. Suddenly the patents burst in. The doctors are overrun and there the violence and imagery is quite shocking. The camera falls. The doctor screams as the knife is turned on him. Present day. Four limousines wind their way up the hill. We see beautifully framed shots of the participants as they glance at their invites. I'm thinking film-noir here and it fits perfectly. And here we must leave the narrative. For after setting the tone, the story and giving the audience some very unsettling images already, the film takes the downward turn that will continue to its conclusion. It backs away from a what could genuinely have been one hell of a ride. The set-up, the setting, the tone, the classic story (5 strangers must stay alive 'till morning to claim $1 million) was perfect; the execution is not. And who do we have to blame for this? Simple: the studio. Apparently, Warners wanted a sweet little horror/comedy. The director did not and with producers with the power of Silver and Zemickes, no pushovers by any means, it looks like they were in spilt minds themselves. What we get is a cheap, simply bad CGI finale. When will filmmakers learn that computer graphics can never be scary? But the original ending was indeed shot and all we do see, one brief shot of the mad doctor, provides one of the most effective moments of the movie. Alas, it was all ripped out. What we do have here is an initial 20 minute grounding that could have provided the basis for one hell of a creepy, very effective addition to the horror genre. What we do have is a disappointment. Roll on the uncut DVD version. * This is a title that can only be said as they do in the trailers: gravely voice and with a fast tempo.

Summary: Below average Horror movie.
Review: This film is about 5 Pretty people got a invite to a haunted house to spend a night, and who ever can survive the night will receive a million dollars. This film try too much to be scary, but never managing it. You will pretty much knows what's going to happen next from the start to the end and knows who will die and so on. The film is pretty light on the gore, the opening sequence is the scariest part of the film, and the rest rely too much on the special effects. The film itself looks good and the horror sequences are well done but they've all been done before, but there's no major shocks or twist to surprise the audience. Overall, the film is pretty average on the verge of being bad. I suggest you rent it out first before you buy it.

Summary: A Fun and Spooky Ride!
Review: "House on Haunted Hill" is a fairly decent horror flick based on the classic from 1958. It suffers from predictability and overdone special effects, but the cast (mainly Geoffrey Rush and Famke Janssen) is superb and convincing. There are lots of good scares in this film, as well as some cheap and expected thrills. The ending is ruined by overly ostentatious special effects that kind of nullify the good thrills throughout. All in all, "House on Haunted Hill" passes as a horror film.

Summary: Better than the original
Review: In comparison to the original version this is far better because of the special effects(excellent) and more modernised than the Vincent price original. The plot is basically that Mr price has a party in this house which used to me a mental asylem and is apparently haunted. Mr Price decides to offer people 1 million dollars each if they stay in the house all night and are around in the morning to collect thier reward however the Invitations are mysteriously sent out to the wrong people it begins from there. Saying anymore will spoil this great film which when I wathced it I thought that it would be superb on DVD with dolby 5.1 ! Buy it soon.

Review: This film was without a doubt the most pathetic attempt at horror I've ever seen in my entire life. The acting was indescribably poor and it lacked any entertainment value what so ever. If you haven't seen it, never see it.
